Integridad

Mt 1, 16. 18-21. 24

GospelMT 1:16, 18-21, 24A

Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary.
Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ.

Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
"Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins."
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home.

Meditacion:
Amen

In the gospel of today, the festival of San Jose, there are two readings, that of Jesus lost and found in the temple or that of Mary's motherhood. I chose maternity because I think it reveals the great personality of San Jose.
Jose, carpenter, builder, prudent man, tells us the writing that "was a just man" that is the expression used for people integrated in the ancient texts.
An integrated person is one who always does what he should do, regardless of his interests.
San Jose had each and every one of the reasons on his side to repudiate his girlfriend, Maria ... the law was on his side, the evidence was in sight ... he did not need more.
But an angel comes and tells him not to do it and not only that ... to welcome the child that Maria had in her womb as her own because she will be the savior of the world.
Jose could have ignored this and, simply, repudiate his girlfriend ..
But he does not, even without fully understanding how, takes Mary as his wife and Jesus as his son.
He does what he has to do, without looking back and without taking into account what suits him.
Being integrated in today's world is very difficult sometimes ... people have lost their integrity to live simply, common lives where the norm is "do what is good for you, even if it affects other people".
Today in your day we look at San Jose and the powerful simplicity of its decisions, we ask that you intercede with your son to be able always and on every occasion, to be integral people of heart. Amen
