Mt 4, 18-22

GospelMT 4:18-22
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers,
Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew,
casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him.
He walked along from there and saw two other brothers,
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John.
They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets.
He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father
and followed him.

"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Meditacion:
Amen

Today began my day with this phrase that I liked very much: "The first reading is a well-known fragment of the letter to the Romans." In the context of a reflection on the saving role of Christ, Paul introduces a primitive kerygmatic formula: "Yes you proclaim with your mouth that Jesus is the Lord and you believe with your heart that God has raised him from the dead you will be saved ".
In the second part of the fragment the itinerary that leads to this invocation is reconstructed. To invoke it is necessary to believe. And to believe, we must announce the gospel. No ad without shipping That is why the task of the evangelizer is so necessary. The feet of the one who announces the good news are beautiful. Faith, in short, springs from the announcement of the message "
Without a doubt, today's first reading (a fragment of the letter to the Romans) is perfectly linked to the second one that tells us how Jesus summons Peter and Andres to follow him.
And I use the word "summon" and not to call ... when you summon, you gather, you add, you join forces. Jesus summoned by the strength of his spirit and people simply followed him; their families and their jobs went into the background and that spirit of knowing more became present. I do not believe that the apostles were fully aware of what it meant to follow Jesus; His knowledge was then released by the Holy Spirit but they were aware that they should leave "everything" for this man who attracted and dragged them.
The convocation is the same today as yesterday and without a doubt those signs that we saw in the first apostles are still the same: a sudden shift of what is family and work towards a deeper knowledge of Jesus usually marks the beginning of the total surrender of a soul to its divine destiny.
"Holy Spirit, teach us to be true disciples of Jesus, and desist from everything that prevents us from bringing the good news of salvation to the world that needs you so much."
