Jn 1, 47-51

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús vio que Natanael se acercaba, dijo: "Éste es un verdadero israelita en el que no hay doblez". Natanael le preguntó: "¿De dónde me conoces?" Jesús le respondió: "Antes de que Felipe te llamara, te vi cuando estabas debajo de la higuera". Respondió Natanael: "Maestro, tú eres el Hijo de Dios, tú eres el rey de Israel". Jesús le contestó: "Tú crees, porque te he dicho que te vi debajo de la higuera. Mayores cosas has de ver". Después añadió: "Yo les aseguro que verán el cielo abierto y a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar sobre el Hijo del hombre".

Meditacion:

Hoy es la fiesta de  los Arcangeles Miguel, Gabriel y Rafael.

Leyendo el evangelio de hoy yo me preguntaba qué estaría pensando Natanael aquel día cuando estaba sentado bajo la higuera? Conocía muy bien las Escrituras así que es posible que estuviera recordando las palabras de Miqueas, en las que el profeta promete: “Cada cual podrá descansar a la sombra de su… higuera” (Miqueas 4, 4). Tal vez Natanael rezó diciendo: “¡Señor, haz que llegue pronto ese día!”

Encontrándose en medio de sus reflexiones, su amigo Felipe lo llamó para que viniera a conocer a Jesús, que ya se había fijado en él y conocía muy bien su corazón. Al ver a Natanael, el Señor le prometió que un día vería el cielo abierto y “cosas mayores”, incluso los ángeles (Juan 1, 50).

Así como Jesús vio a Natanael cuando éste estaba sentado bajo la higuera, así nos ve a nosotros también, y tal como conocía el corazón de Natanael, también conoce nuestros pensamientos más íntimos. El Señor nos ve cuando rezamos y también cuando lo que menos se nos ocurre es hacer oración. Conoce los anhelos más profundos que tenemos y quiere concedérnoslos, y así como lo hizo con Natanael, también nos promete abrir el cielo para que un día también lleguemos a ver “cosas mayores”, cosas que jamás nos habríamos imaginado.

Hermanos, hoy celebramos la fiesta de los Santos Arcángeles, por eso te invito a que recuerdes que Jesús te está mirando. Él sabe cuándo te sientas y cuándo te levantas; desde lejos puede ver tus pensamientos (Salmo 139, 2) y sabe qué es lo que más anhelas y cuáles son tus temores más profundos y te ofrece su gracia y su ayuda divina. Él te dará fuerzas para hacer realidad tu vocación, tal como se la dio a María cuando envió al arcángel San Gabriel a anunciarle que ella sería la Madre de Dios (Lucas 1, 28). Él te abrirá los ojos para que lo veas más claramente, así como curó la ceguera de Tobit por medio del arcángel San Rafael (Tobit 11). Y luchará a tu lado contra el pecado, al igual que envió a Miguel a combatir contra Satanás y defender al pueblo de Dios (Apocalipsis 12, 7; Daniel 12, 1). Today is the feast of the Archangels Miguel, Gabriel and Rafael.

Reading the Gospel today, I wondered what Nathanael was thinking that day when he was sitting under the fig tree. Brothers, today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Archangels, so I invite you to remember that Jesus is watching you. Lc 9, 18-22

Meditacion:

Uno de los problemas que nosotros tenemos es que leemos la biblia sabiendo mas o menos como terminara... al cabo de 3 años de predica, Jesus morira y resucitara...

Pero para los apostoles, reconocer como lo hace Pedro en el evangelio de hoy dia que era "el Mesias de Dios" es un logro extraordinario.

Jesus sigue con el tercer anuncio de la pasion y les dice que no digan nada sobre El

En el Antiguo Testamento, el Mesías debía salvar al pueblo de Dios de sus enemigos y restituir su heredad. Jesús era el Mesías prometido y enviado por Dios para liberar a todos de sus enemigos, para hablar y realizar obras con la autoridad de Dios y hacer sentir su presencia en medio del pueblo. Pero mientras los discípulos no entendieran el sufrimiento y la muerte de Jesús, no estarían en condiciones de hablar acerca de él.

De modo que, en lugar de darse a conocer como Mesías, Jesús prefirió usar el enigmático título de “Hijo del hombre”. En el Antiguo Testamento, este título fue usado tanto para hacer resaltar la condición humilde del ser humano (Salmo 11, 4), como para referirse, en los escritos apocalípticos, a Aquel que se identificaría perfectamente con Dios, es decir, uno investido de gloria y poder celestial y digno de ser venerado (Daniel 7, 13-14). Meditacion:

Leemos del Evangelio de hoy"

Al menos Herodes mantenía la curiosidad, quería conocer a Jesús. La verdad es que su motivación no era demasiado buena ni sus intenciones muy caritativas. Su frase empieza con un “A Juan lo mandé decapitar yo.” Así que debía tener una manera un poco especial de tratar con las “novedades” que aparecían en su reino.

Lo nuestro no es una novedad. Lo nuestro es una tradición de más de veinte siglos. ¿O no? Tenía un profesor en teología que decía muchas veces que a los cristianos, a los seguidores de Jesús, Dios nos espera en el futuro, nunca en el pasado. Quizá eso forme parte del hecho de ser “seguidores”, que Jesús va por delante de nosotros y que no le alcanzamos nunca. Él va abriendo camino, desbrozando el terreno. Allí donde nosotros estamos convencidos de que es imposible, él nos abre un camino a la vida y a la esperanza. Así lo hizo con su resurrección. Y así lo hace tantas veces en nuestra vida.

La primera comunidad cristiana se vio obligada a buscar caminos nuevos. La novedad del Evangelio no cabía en el estrecho mundo judío. Descubrieron, aunque con algunas dificultades, que para ser cristiano no hacía falta ser judío. Más adelante, entraron en contacto con el mundo griego y romano y los padres de la Iglesia, los Santos Padres de los primeros siglos, no tuvieron problema en utilizar la lengua griega o latina para expresar el mensaje evangélico. No sólo utilizaron la lengua sino también la cultura, la filosofía, todo. Así llegó el Evangelio a lo que por entonces era “todo el mundo.”

Lo nuestro es una tradición que siempre se está rehaciendo, reinventando, porque lo fundamental no es mantener las formas de la tradición sino ser capaces de expresar lo fundamental de la tradición, el mensaje del amor de Dios, manifestado en Cristo Jesús, en todos los medios que sean necesarios para que todos lo escuchen, comprendan y tengan la posibilidad de acogerlo en sus corazones.

Por eso, cuando leemos la primera lectura, nos podemos decir a nosotros mismos que sí, que estamos en lo de siempre, que seguimos en el mismo empeño de los cristianos de todos los siglos, anunciar el Evangelio, pero que estamos llenos de esperanza porque Dios mismo es el que anima nuestro esfuerzo.

“Señor Jesucristo, renueva la unción del Espíritu Santo en tus ministros consagrados y concédeles una nueva fortaleza para que anuncien claramente el Evangelio de palabra y de obra.” Amen

At least Herod kept the curiosity, wanted to know Jesus. The truth is that his motivation was not too good nor his intentions very charitable. Later, they came into contact with the Greek and Roman world and the fathers of the Church, the Holy Fathers of the first centuries, had no problem in using the Greek or Latin language to express the Gospel message. La gran comision

Lc 9, 1-6

Meditacion:

Y llego el gran dia.. Jesus otorga poderes a sus discipulos y los manda  a predicar, tambien les da algunas indicaciones precisas "no lleven nada para el camino, ni baston, ni morral, ni comida..." supongo que hoy nos diria "dejen el celular, libros y vayan con lo puesto..." y les dio la gran comision: predicar y curar a los enfermos.

Fijense un detalle... el cristianismo nunca fue algo cerrado, desde su creacion siempre estuvo abierto al que quisiera seguirlo y siempre tuvo esa vocacion misionera de "salir y predicar"

Con el tiempo hemos perdido esa mision y a veces hasta nos da verguenza decir que vamos a la Iglesia o que oramos en casa. nos da verguenza orar sobre nuestros alimentos o bendecir a nuestros hijos o amigos...

Y sin embargo es a lo que estamos llamados, somos misioneros cada dia, cada hora de nuestra existencia...

El otro punto que no hay que olvidar: la buena nueva está marcada por la urgencia. El evangelizador tiene que llegar y ofrecer el mensaje. Y saber salir hacia otro lugar, cuando el mensaje no es bien recibido. Lo suyo es anunciar. Hay muchos que están esperando. Y continuamente hay que buscar los medios, los lenguajes, las iniciativas que hagan llegar la buena nueva a los que no la conocen.

Hoy tenemos que seguir evangelizando. Esa es nuestra misión. No olvidemos que lo fundamental es el testimonio de vida. Y que evangelizar es urgente porque hay muchos que están esperando.

“Amado Jesús, no sé cómo ser tu mensajero, pero confío en que hoy estarás conmigo cuando yo dé el primer paso.” Amen

En aquel tiempo, fueron a ver a Jesús su madre y sus parientes, pero no podían llegar hasta donde él estaba porque había mucha gente. Entonces alguien le fue a decir: "Tu madre y tus hermanos están allá afuera y quieren verte". Pero él respondió: "Mi madre y mis hermanos son aquellos que escuchan la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica"

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es uno de esos medios complicados de entender... no se comprende mucho la respuesta de Jesus a sus familiares...

Para mi, el texto habla sobre algo que tal vez nunca nos hayamos parado a pensar... la salvacion de cada uno es particular y unica, el camino de elevacion de cada alma es privado y secreto, un pacto de amor entre Dios y esa alma.

O sea que a ese nivel, la familia tiene cada uno un diferente camino que recorrer... y lo recorremos, en el amor fraternal, si pero tambien en nuestras obligaciones y deberes espirituales.

Cuando lo ves de esta manera tan esenia, es cuando el Evangelio cobra una fuerza diferente.. la familia de Jesus son sus seguidores, los que desean ser santos.

Desde la semana pasada venimos leyendo sobre la necesidad de santificar nuestra vida, de concreta y realisticamente plantearnos la necesidad de la santidad como objetivo primario y unico. 

Ya el evangelio del domingo nos hablaba de ser como niños y hoy nos dice que hay que seguir su palabra.

Hermanos.. sigamos la palabra del resucitado y, humildemente, tomemos nuestra cruz y carguemosla en un ciclo infinito de elevacion. Como siempre digo, espero verlos a todos en el cielo.Amen

La luz

Lc 8, 16-18

Meditacion:

Cuando tú lees esta frase, ¿te parece que eres “el que tiene” o “el que no tiene”? La mayoría de nosotros tiende a fijarse más en lo negativo que en lo positivo. Tal vez nos preocupa el que no estemos haciendo lo suficiente para agradar a Dios, y que si no hacemos algo más nos perderemos lo poco que tengamos. Pues he aquí el caso de un joven que nos enseña algo distinto.
Un día en la universidad conversaba sobre este pasaje con sus compañeros en una clase sobre la Biblia, cuando algo ocurrió en su corazón. En vez de pensar más en lo que “no tenía”, empezó a reflexionar en lo que “sí tenía”, es decir, todo lo que Dios le había dado.
Tanto lo conmovió la generosidad de Dios que les preguntó a los otros si querían que orara por alguna intención que tuvieran. El deseo de pedir por las necesidades de otros lo llevó al centro comercial del pueblo y se ofreció a rezar con la gente que andaba de compras y varios aceptaron. Rezó por una persona para que experimentara el amor de Dios; por otros para que no sintieran temor y por los familiares de varios otros, hasta oró por la sanación de un enfermo. Con el tiempo tuvo su recompensa. Supo que algunas de estas personas se sentían mejor físicamente o estaban más dispuestos a perdonar, o estaban considerando regresar a la iglesia.
Finalmente, este joven entendió que ese “algo más” que Dios le había dado no era en realidad para él; sino para que lo compartiera con los demás.
Este principio es válido para todos, no solo para unos pocos escogidos. Piensa, hermano, en todo lo que Dios te ha dado: familia, hogar, trabajo, alimento, amigos, ropa y mucho más. Aun si te parece que te falta alguna de estas cosas, nunca olvides que él te ha dado también el incomparable regalo de la salvación, así como de la Iglesia y los sacramentos. El Señor te ha concedido su amor y la esperanza segura de la vida eterna. ¡Realmente tienes muchas bendiciones! Permite que la verdad de la generosidad de Dios invada cada vez más tu corazón y te impulse a dar un paso de fe. Que te dé la valentía para decirle hoy a una persona: “Dios te ama.” Y también para ayudar a alguien a cruzar la calle, visitar a un enfermo o ayudar a un niño a hacer sus tareas.
Hoy es la celebracion de la Virgen de la Merced, no se olviden de agradecerla a ella, nuestra Madre Celestial, su constante intervencion.

“Señor y Salvador mío, ayúdame a compartir generosamente tu amor, como tú me lo prodigas a mí.”

When you read this phrase, do you think you are "the one who has" or "the one who does not have"? Most of us tend to focus more on the negative than on the positive. Maybe we are worried that we are not doing enough to please God, and that if we do not do something else we will lose what little we have. Well here's the case of a young man who teaches us something different.
One day in college he was talking about this passage with his classmates in a Bible class, when something happened in his heart. Instead of thinking more about what he "did not have," he began to reflect on what he "had," that is, everything God had given him.
He was so moved by the generosity of God that he asked the others if they wanted him to pray for any intention they had. The desire to ask for the needs of others took him to the town's shopping center and he offered to pray with people who were shopping and several accepted. He prayed for a person to experience the love of God; for others so that they did not feel fear and for the relatives of several others, even prayed for the healing of a sick person. With time it had its reward. He knew that some of these people felt better physically or were more willing to forgive, or were considering going back to church.
Finally, this young man understood that this "something else" that God had given him was not really for him; but to share it with others.
This principle is valid for everyone, not just for a chosen few. Think, brother, in all that God has given you: family, home, work, food, friends, clothes and much more. Even if you think you are missing some of these things, never forget that he has also given you the incomparable gift of salvation, as well as the Church and the sacraments. The Lord has granted you his love and the sure hope of eternal life. You really have many blessings! Let the truth of God's generosity invade your heart more and more and impel you to take a step of faith. May it give you the courage to say to a person today: "God loves you." And also to help someone cross the street, visit a sick person or help a child do his homework.
Today is the celebration of the Virgin of Mercy, do not forget to thank her, our Celestial Mother, her constant intervention.

En aquel tiempo, mucha gente se había reunido alrededor de Jesús, y al ir pasando por los pueblos, otros más se le unían. Entonces les dijo esta parábola:

"Salió un sembrador a sembrar su semilla. Al ir sembrando, unos granos cayeron en el camino, la gente los pisó y los pájaros se los comieron. Otros cayeron en terreno pedregoso, y al brotar, se secaron por falta de humedad. Otros cayeron entre espinos, y al crecer éstos, los ahogaron. Los demás cayeron en tierra buena, crecieron y produjeron el ciento por uno". Dicho esto, exclamó: "¡El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga!"

Entonces le preguntaron los discípulos: "¿Qué significa esta parábola?" Y él les respondió: "A ustedes se les ha concedido conocer claramente los secretos del Reino de Dios; en cambio, a los demás, sólo en parábolas para que viendo no vean y oyendo no entiendan.

La parábola significa esto: la semilla es la palabra de Dios. Lo que cayó en el camino representa a los que escuchan la palabra, pero luego viene el diablo y se la lleva de sus corazones, para que no crean ni se salven. Lo que cayó en terreno pedregoso representa a los que, al escuchar la palabra, la reciben con alegría, pero no tienen raíz; son los que por algún tiempo creen, pero en el momento de la prueba, fallan. Lo que cayó entre espinos representa a los que escuchan la palabra, pero con los afanes, riquezas y placeres de la vida, se van ahogando y no dan fruto. Lo que cayó en tierra buena representa a los que escuchan la palabra, la conservan en un corazón bueno y bien dispuesto, y dan fruto por su constancia''.

When a large crowd gathered, with people from one town after another
journeying to Jesus, he spoke in a parable. 
"A sower went out to sow his seed.
And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path and was trampled,
and the birds of the sky ate it up.
Some seed fell on rocky ground, and when it grew,
it withered for lack of moisture.
Some seed fell among thorns,
and the thorns grew with it and choked it.
And some seed fell on good soil, and when it grew,
it produced fruit a hundredfold."
After saying this, he called out,
"Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear."

Then his disciples asked him
what the meaning of this parable might be.
He answered,
"Knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God
has been granted to you;
but to the rest, they are made known through parables
so that they may look but not see, and hear but not understand.

"This is the meaning of the parable. 
The seed is the word of God.
Those on the path are the ones who have heard,
but the Devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts
that they may not believe and be saved.
Those on rocky ground are the ones who, when they hear,
receive the word with joy, but they have no root;
they believe only for a time and fall away in time of temptation.
As for the seed that fell among thorns,
they are the ones who have heard, but as they go along,
they are choked by the anxieties and riches and pleasures of life, 
and they fail to produce mature fruit.
But as for the seed that fell on rich soil,
they are the ones who, when they have heard the word,
embrace it with a generous and good heart,
and bear fruit through perseverance."

Meditacion:

Hay un par de cosas importantes en el evangelio de hoy... por un lado la distincion que hace Jesus con sus apostoles "A ustedes se les ha concedido conocer claramente el Reino de Dios..", marcando el hecho de que ellos estan siendo directamente preparados y evangelizados pero Jesus deja abierta la puerta de la fe "El que tenga oidos para oir, que oiga".. Y para comprender la palabra de Dios los "oidos" de la fe son imprescindibles.

Muchas veces nos preguntamos cuando nos encontramos con hermanos que andan muy "en la mala vida" porque no puede el ver lo que yo veo o siento? los que tenemos alma de misioneros quisieramos que todo mundo se conviertiera de una manera profunda y total a Dios... pero la fe falla a veces..

Y sin fe, todo lo demas.. el evangelio, los testimonios de vida, todo, caen y no se comprenden o no se quieren comprender.

La fe es la que ilumina la vida de cada uno, que nos lleva a cambiar la faz del mundo y ver todo a traves de los ojos de Dios.

Sin fe, el mundo, nuestras vidas son inutiles y vacias; con fe. nuestro camino de elevacion hacia la santidad tiene un sentido concreto, un destino de gloria y nos inunda la felicidad de saber que somos y hacia donde avanzamos.

Por eso amigos en este ultimo fin de semana de Setiembre, avanzando ya hacia el otoño en el hemisferio norte y hacia el verano en el sur, tengamos fe, seamos merecedores de la fe.

El Señor es el maestro sembrador y él hará que su Evangelio dé fruto abundante en nuestra vida, de acuerdo con sus designios y a su debido tiempo. Todo lo que nos pide es que confiemos en él y tengamos paciencia. Si aceptamos su palabra de corazón, nuestra relación con el Padre será fructífera y otros se sentirán interesados en conocer el amor y la protección del Señor. Además, si se lo pedimos, el Espíritu Santo nos ayudará a quitar las piedras y malezas que todavía haya en el terreno de nuestro corazón.

“Padre eterno, concédeme tu fortaleza, te lo ruego, para confiar que tú cumplirás tus promesas en los que se acojan a ti de todo corazón.” Amen

There are a couple of important things in today's Gospel ... on the one hand the distinction that Jesus makes with his apostles "You have been granted to know clearly the Kingdom of God ...", marking the fact that they are being directly prepared and evangelized but Jesus leaves open the door of faith "He who has ears to hear, to hear" ... And to understand the word of God the "ears" of faith are essential.

Many times we ask ourselves when we meet brothers who are very "in bad life" because they can not see what I see or feel? those of us who have the soul of missionaries would like everyone to convert in a profound and total way to God ... but faith sometimes fails ...

And without faith, everything else ... the gospel, the testimonies of life, everything, fall and do not understand or do not want to understand.

Faith is what illuminates the life of each one, which leads us to change the face of the world and see everything through the eyes of God.

Without faith, the world, our lives are useless and empty; with faith. our path of elevation towards holiness has a concrete meaning, a destiny of glory and we are filled with the happiness of knowing that we are and where we are going.

That's why friends on this last weekend of September, moving forward towards the autumn in the northern hemisphere and towards the summer in the south, we have faith, we are worthy of the faith.

The Lord is the master sower and he will make his Gospel bear abundant fruit in our life, according to his designs and in due time. All he asks is that we trust him and have patience. If we accept his word of heart, our relationship with the Father will be fruitful and others will be interested in knowing the love and protection of the Lord. Also, if we ask you, the Holy Spirit will help us remove the stones and weeds that still remain in the ground of our hearts.

"Eternal Father, grant me your strength, I beg you, to trust that you will fulfill your promises in those who embrace you with all their hearts." Amen
