Jn 3, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a Nicodemo: "No te extrañes de que te haya dicho: 'Tienen que renacer de lo alto'. El viento sopla donde quiere y oyes su ruido, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va. Así pasa con quien ha nacido del Espíritu". Nicodemo le preguntó entonces: "¿Cómo puede ser esto?"

Jesús le respondió: "Tú eres maestro de Israel, ¿y no sabes esto? Yo te aseguro que nosotros hablamos de lo que sabemos y damos testimonio de lo que hemos visto, pero ustedes no aceptan nuestro testimonio. Si no creen cuando les hablo de las cosas de la tierra, ¿cómo creerán si les hablo de las celestiales? Nadie ha subido al cielo sino el Hijo del hombre, que bajó del cielo y está en el cielo. Así como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto, así tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre, para que todo el que crea en él tenga vida eterna".

GospelJN 3:7B-15

Jesus said to Nicodemus:
"'You must be born from above.'
The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes,
but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes;
so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Nicodemus answered and said to him,
'How can this happen?"
Jesus answered and said to him,
"You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this?
Amen, amen, I say to you,
we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen,
but you people do not accept our testimony.
If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe,
how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

Meditacion:

La primera lectura de estos dias nos relata los primeros tiempos de esta pequeña comunidad cristiana y como ponian todo en comun, algo revolucionario para esos tiempos.

Lo que leemos en el episodio de Hechos, más allá de ser un cuadro idealista de las relaciones comunitarias, es un acto de protesta contra las injusticias que provocaba el sistema político, económico y religioso. Se favorecía la concentración de poder y riqueza en ciertos grupos y se dejaba sin oportunidades a las grandes mayorías. Los discípulos y discípulas del resucitado, buscan revertir ese orden de cosas, construyendo comunidades que defiendan la igual dignidad de sus miembros y el bienestar de todos y todas. No es casualidad que la comunidad a la que se dirige el evangelista esté llamada, desde la figura de Nicodemo, a «nacer de nuevo». Están siendo invitados a una nueva forma de relacionarse, con los demás y con el mundo, que los impulse a la transformación de las estructuras políticas, económicas, sociales y religiosas. Sólo desde una vida capaz de morir a sí misma, como lo hizo Jesús, es posible hacer brotar el verdadero amor.

Necesitamos derribar los muros que hoy nos separan y nos impiden vivir como hermanos y hermanas. ¿Seremos los y las creyentes capaces de apostar por economías alternativas que generen oportunidades para los descartados del sistema-mundo?

Es lamentable el pensamiento de aquellos que no ven alternativa, y vislumbran inevitablemente el fin de la humanidad. Antes que pensar en el fin de la humanidad deberíamos de plantearnos, seriamente, el fin de este sistema político-económico que parece estar encaminándonos hacia el abismo.

Oremos para que a nosotros también el Espíritu Santo nos haga testigos fieles y auténticos del gran don del amor que actuaba en la Iglesia primitiva y demos así un testimonio creíble de Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador.

“Padre celestial, concédenos demostrar de palabra y obra la victoria de Cristo sobre los poderes del mal.” Amen

The first reading of these days tells us about the early days of this small Christian community and how they put everything in common, something revolutionary for those times.

What we read in the episode of Acts, beyond being an idealistic picture of community relations, is an act of protest against the injustices caused by the political, economic and religious system. The concentration of power and wealth in certain groups was favored and the great majorities were left without opportunities. The disciples of the Risen One seek to reverse this order of things, building communities that defend the equal dignity of their members and the well-being of all. It is not by chance that the community to which the evangelist addresses is called, from the figure of Nicodemus, to "be born again." They are being invited to a new way of relating, with others and with the world, that drives them to the transformation of political, economic, social and religious structures. Only from a life capable of dying to itself, as Jesus did, is it possible to bring forth true love.

We need to break down the walls that separate us today and prevent us from living as brothers and sisters. Will we and the believers be able to bet on alternative economies that generate opportunities for the discarded of the world-system?

The thought of those who do not see an alternative is regrettable, and they inevitably envision the end of humanity. Rather than thinking about the end of humanity, we should seriously consider the end of this political-economic system that seems to be heading towards the abyss.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will also make us faithful and authentic witnesses of the great gift of love that acted in the early Church and thus give us a credible testimony of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

"Heavenly Father, grant us to demonstrate in word and deed the victory of Christ over the powers of evil." Amen

Renacer para construir

Jn 3, 1-8

Había un fariseo llamado Nicodemo, hombre principal entre los judíos, que fue de noche a ver a Jesús y le dijo: "Maestro, sabemos que has venido de parte de Dios, como maestro; porque nadie puede hacer los signos que tú haces, si Dios no está con él".

Jesús le contestó: "Yo te aseguro que quien no renace de lo alto, no puede ver el Reino de Dios". Nicodemo le preguntó: "¿Cómo puede nacer un hombre siendo ya viejo? ¿Acaso puede, por segunda vez, entrar en el vientre de su madre y volver a nacer?"

Le respondió Jesús: "Yo te aseguro que el que no nace del agua y del Espíritu, no puede entrar en el Reino de Dios. Lo que nace de la carne, es carne; lo que nace del Espíritu, es espíritu. No te extrañes de que te haya dicho: 'Tienen que renacer de lo alto'. El viento sopla donde quiere y oyes su ruido, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va. GospelJN 3:1-8

There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
He came to Jesus at night and said to him,
"Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God,

"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." 
Nicodemus said to him,
"How can a man once grown old be born again?
Surely he cannot reenter his mother's womb and be born again, can he?"
Jesus answered,
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and Spirit
he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.
What is born of flesh is flesh
and what is born of spirit is spirit.
Do not be amazed that I told you,
'You must be born from above.'

Meditacion:

Son malos tiempos para ser no ya catolico, o cristiano o musulman o judio. Son malos tiempos para ser una persona espiritual.

Una sociedad totalmente laica que rechaza lo espiritual porque no lleva a las personas a incrementar su consumo ha logrado sacar lo peor de muchas personas.

El tiroteo de ayer en una Sinagoga es el ultimo de una cadena horrible de crimenes contra casas de oracion, dejando muertos, heridos, personas traumatizadas, hijos sin padres y padres sin hijos.

En la primera lectura de hoy leemos en el Evangelio que sucedio cuando los primeros apostoles comenzaron a sufrir persecuciones; en el Evangelio, Jesus nos dice "Yo te aseguro que el que no nace del agua y del Espíritu, no puede entrar en el Reino de Dios. Lo que nace de la carne, es carne; lo que nace del Espíritu, es espíritu. No te extrañes de que te haya dicho: 'Tienen que renacer de lo alto'

Este es un tiempo de purificacion, no hay lugar para los tibios de corazon. 

Debemos intensificar  nuestra oracion, nuestro amor a todos nuestros hermanos como una manera de integrar a todos y no dejar nadie afuera, para que de una vez por todas, ganar esta guerra espiritual entre el bien y el mal.

Los invito a todos a hacer un esfuerzo en cuanto ser mas amables, mas misericordiosos, mas afables y aprender a aceptar nuestras circunstacias como unico camino para poder modificar esta realidad.

Juntos marchemos y construyamos una sociedad responsable, amorosa y fraternal con nuestros hermanos y toda la creacion.

“Jesús, Señor nuestro, concédenos valentía para dar testimonio de que tú eres el Salvador del mundo y el que cura y venda las heridas de los corazones dolidos, que sanas a los enfermos y brindas justicia a los oprimidos.” Amen

These are bad times to be no longer Catholic, or Christian or Muslim or Jewish. These are bad times to be a spiritual person.

A totally secular society that rejects the spiritual because it does not lead people to increase their consumption has managed to bring out the worst in many people.

The shooting of yesterday in a Synagogue is the last of a horrible chain of crimes against houses of prayer, leaving dead, wounded, traumatized people, children without parents and parents without children.

In today's first reading we read in the Gospel that it happened when the first apostles began to suffer persecutions; In the Gospel, Jesus tells us: "I assure you that he who is not born of water and the Spirit can not enter the Kingdom of God, what is born of the flesh is flesh, what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised that he told you: 'They have to be reborn from on high'

This is a time of purification, there is no place for the lukewarm of heart.

We must intensify our prayer, our love to all our brothers as a way to integrate everyone and not leave anyone out, so that once and for all, win this spiritual war between good and evil.

I invite you all to make an effort to be more kind, more merciful, more affable and learn to accept our circumstances as the only way to change this reality.

Together let us march and build a responsible, loving and fraternal society with our brothers and all creation.

"Jesus, our Lord, grant us courage to bear witness that you are the Savior of the world and he who heals and sells the wounds of hurting hearts, who heals the sick and brings justice to the oppressed." Amen

Vayan y anuncien

Mc 16, 9-15

Habiendo resucitado al amanecer del primer día de la semana, Jesús se apareció primero a María Magdalena, de la que había arrojado siete demonios. Ella fue a llevar la noticia a los discípulos, los cuales estaban llorando, agobiados por la tristeza; pero cuando la oyeron decir que estaba vivo y que lo había visto, no le creyeron.

Después de esto, se apareció en otra forma a dos discípulos, que iban de camino hacia una aldea. También ellos fueron a anunciarlo a los demás; pero tampoco a ellos les creyeron.

Por último, se apareció Jesús a los Once, cuando estaban a la mesa, y les echó en cara su incredulidad y dureza de corazón, porque no les habían creído a los que lo habían visto resucitado. Jesús les dijo entonces: "Vayan por todo el mundo y prediquen el Evangelio a toda creatura".

GospelMK 16:9-15

When Jesus had risen, early on the first day of the week,
he appeared first to Mary Magdalene,
out of whom he had driven seven demons.
She went and told his companions who were mourning and weeping.
When they heard that he was alive
and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

After this he appeared in another form
to two of them walking along on their way to the country.
They returned and told the others;
but they did not believe them either.

But later, as the Eleven were at table, he appeared to them
and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart
because they had not believed those
who saw him after he had been raised.
He said to them, "Go into the whole world
and proclaim the Gospel to every creature."

Meditacion:

El final del evangelio de Marcos es un añadido; y da la noticia de las apariciones del resucitado. El Cristo resucitado se hace encontradizo, se hace ver y se da a conocer: a María Magdalena, a los discípulos de Emaús… El que es encontrado por él no puede menos de contar lo que ha visto y oído. La experiencia de encuentro incluye la misión de anunciarlo. Verlo y anunciarlo son dos caras de la misma  experiencia. El anuncio es llamada a la fe; es invitación a creer. El texto del evangelio insiste  en que los destinatarios no creen. Jesús mismo reprocha a los once su incredulidad porque no creen en el testimonio de los que le han visto resucitado y vivo. Ya en la etapa pre-pascual Jesús reprochaba la dureza de corazón de los discípulos a la hora de entender el camino de Jesús, sus actitudes y prácticas.

En la etapa  post-pascual, la comunidad cristiana sigue escuchando el mandato de Jesús: Id y proclamad… Y la Iglesia siente que no puede menos de contar lo que ha visto y oído. Siente la necesidad de seguir proclamando la misericordia eterna del  Señor y contando sus hazañas. Especialmente la gran proeza de la resurrección de Jesús y los milagros que los testigos siguen haciendo en su nombre…

¿Sentimos nosotros la urgencia de anunciar la resurrección de Jesús? ¿Necesitamos nosotros creer y esperar en la resurrección? ¿Estamos contentos y satisfechos con esta vida presente y no anhelamos más?

“Amado Jesús, gracias por los instrumentos que escogiste para que me hablaran de ti. Pongo mi corazón en tus manos para que me unjas como instrumento para la salvación de otros.” Amen

The end of the Gospel of Mark is an addition; and gives the news of the apparitions of the risen one. Preparemos la cena

Jn 21, 1-14

En aquel tiempo, Jesús se les apareció otra vez a los discípulos junto al lago de Tiberíades. Se les apareció de esta manera: Estaban juntos Simón Pedro, Tomás (llamado el Gemelo), Natanael (el de Caná de Galilea), los hijos de Zebedeo y otros dos discípulos. Simón Pedro les dijo: "Voy a pescar". Ellos le respondieron: "También nosotros vamos contigo". Salieron y se embarcaron, pero aquella noche no pescaron nada.

Estaba amaneciendo, cuando Jesús se apareció en la orilla, pero los discípulos no lo reconocieron. Jesús les dijo: "Muchachos, ¿han pescado algo?" Ellos contestaron: "No". Entonces él les dijo: "Echen la red a la derecha de la barca y encontrarán peces". Así lo hicieron, y luego ya no podían jalar la red por tantos pescados.

Entonces el discípulo a quien amaba Jesús le dijo a Pedro: "Es el Señor". Tan pronto como Simón Pedro oyó decir que era el Señor, se anudó a la cintura la túnica, pues se la había quitado, y se tiró al agua. Los otros discípulos llegaron en la barca, arrastrando la red con los pescados, pues no distaban de tierra más de cien metros.

Tan pronto como saltaron a tierra, vieron unas brasas y sobre ellas un pescado y pan. Jesús les dijo: "Traigan algunos pescados de los que acaban de pescar". Entonces Simón Pedro subió a la barca y arrastró hasta la orilla la red, repleta de pescados grandes. Eran ciento cincuenta y tres, y a pesar de que eran tantos, no se rompió la red. Luego les dijo Jesús: "Vengan a almorzar". Y ninguno de los discípulos se atrevía a preguntarle: '¿Quién eres?', porque ya sabían que era el Señor. Jesús se acercó, tomó el pan y se lo dio y también el pescado.

Ésta fue la tercera vez que Jesús se apareció a sus discípulos después de resucitar de entre los muertos.

Gospel JN 21:1-14

Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias.
He revealed himself in this way.
Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee,
Zebedee's sons, and two others of his disciples.
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing."
They said to him, "We also will come with you."
So they went out and got into the boat,
but that night they caught nothing.
When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore;
but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to them, "Children, have you caught anything to eat?"
They answered him, "No."
So he said to them, "Cast the net over the right side of the boat
and you will find something."
So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in
because of the number of fish.
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord."
When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,
he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad,
and jumped into the sea.
The other disciples came in the boat,
for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards,
dragging the net with the fish.
When they climbed out on shore,
they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.
Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you just caught."
So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore
full of one hundred fifty-three large fish.
Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, "Come, have breakfast."
And none of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?"
because they realized it was the Lord.
Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them,
and in like manner the fish.
This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples
after being raised from the dead.

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy nos presenta un Jesus amigo, celebrando una buena pesca con los discipulos; uno hasta podria imaginarselo haciendo chistes con uno y otro y sonriendo, pasando un buen momento.

Y eso es muchas veces lo que debemos hacer con nuestros amigos y con los que no lo son. Preparar una buena cena, compartir con ellos un momento agradable, hablar de Dios.

Fijense que casi no hablamos de Dios con nuestros amigos; muchas veces detras de una falsa sensacion de no querer molestar, no decimos nada pero muchas personas necesitan que se les hable de Dios, que nos convirtamos de una vez por todas en testigos del milagro de la resurreccion.

Entonces invitemos a alguien a hablar de Dios. No tiene que ser en la Parroquia, no encontraremos las personas mas necesitadas alli. Vayamos a la calle, invitemos un desconocido, acerquemonos a alguien  que esta solo; escuchemos al hermano, oremos con El por sus necesidades.

Como en este evangelio, preparemos el pescado para la cena; la charla viene sola.

“Jesús, Señor mío, resucitado y exaltado, toca mi corazón y suavízalo. Me presento delante de ti con humildad. Quiero recibir todo lo que desees darme en todos los aspectos de mi vida.” Amen

No teman, soy yo

Lc 24, 35-48

Cuando los dos discípulos regresaron de Emaús y llegaron al sitio donde estaban reunidos los apóstoles, les contaron lo que les había pasado en el camino y cómo habían reconocido a Jesús al partir el pan.

Mientras hablaban de esas cosas, se presentó Jesús en medio de ellos y les dijo: "La paz esté con ustedes". Ellos, desconcertados y llenos de temor, creían ver un fantasma. Pero él les dijo: "No teman; soy yo. ¿Por qué se espantan? ¿Por qué surgen dudas en su interior? Miren mis manos y mis pies. Soy yo en persona, tóquenme y convénzanse: un fantasma no tiene ni carne ni huesos, como ven que tengo yo". Y les mostró las manos y los pies. Pero como ellos no acababan de creer de pura alegría y seguían atónitos, les dijo: "¿Tienen aquí algo de comer?" Le ofrecieron un trozo de pescado asado; él lo tomó y se puso a comer delante de ellos.

Después les dijo: "Lo que ha sucedido es aquello de que les hablaba yo, cuando aún estaba con ustedes: que tenía que cumplirse todo lo que estaba escrito de mí en la ley de Moisés, en los profetas y en los salmos".

Entonces les abrió el entendimiento para que comprendieran las Escrituras y les dijo: "Está escrito que el Mesías tenía que padecer y había de resucitar de entre los muertos al tercer día, y que en su nombre se había de predicar a todas las naciones, comenzando por Jerusalén, la necesidad de volverse a Dios para el perdón de los pecados. Ustedes son testigos de esto".

GospelLK 24:35-48

The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way,
and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread.

While they were still speaking about this,
he stood in their midst and said to them,
"Peace be with you."
But they were startled and terrified
and thought that they were seeing a ghost.
Then he said to them, "Why are you troubled?
And why do questions arise in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself.
Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones
as you can see I have."
And as he said this,
he showed them his hands and his feet.
While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed,
he asked them, "Have you anything here to eat?"
They gave him a piece of baked fish; 
he took it and ate it in front of them.

He said to them,
"These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you,
that everything written about me in the law of Moses
and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled."
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
And he said to them,
"Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer
and rise from the dead on the third day
and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins,
would be preached in his name
to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things."

Meditacion:

Si separamos la fe del misterio de la resurreccion, es imposible para nosotros siquiera acercarnos al hecho.

Sin embargo, de la mano de la fe, vemos a Jesus vivo, que incluso asusta a los apostoles (a pesar de que para ese entonces se habia aparecido varias veces) y que hasta se pone a comer pescado para demostrarles que era El y no un fantasma.

Me pregunto cuantas veces Jesus tuvo que "comer pescado" en nuestra propia vida. Cada vez que desconfiabamos de un hermano, cada vez que eramos insensibles o dejamos de ver la vida a traves del cristal de la compasion, estamos descreyendo y Jesus vuelve a "comer pescado" para que no nos desviemos.

Al final Jesus dice una frase importante "Ustedes son testigos de esto" seguimos siendo testigos del resusitado y debemos seguir proclamando este misterio.

La Iglesia sigue de fiesta grande por la resurreccion; dejemos que este Cristo nuevo y resucitado llene nuestros corazones y se refleje en nuestra vida diaria.

"Señor yo te recibo en mi corazon y te reconozco en cada uno de los hermanos y hermanas que veo cada dia" Amen

If we separate faith from the mystery of the resurrection, it is impossible for us to even approach the fact.

However, at the hand of faith, we see Jesus alive, who even scares the apostles (although he had appeared several times by then) and who even starts to eat fish to show them that He was and not a ghost.

I wonder how many times Jesus had to "eat fish" in our own life. Every time we distrusted a brother, every time we were insensitive or we stopped seeing life through the crystal of compassion, we are disbelieving and Jesus returns to "eat fish" so that we do not stray.

In the end Jesus says an important phrase "You are witnesses of this" we are still witnesses of the resuscitated and we must keep proclaiming this mystery.

The Church continues to be a great festival for the resurrection; Let us let this new and risen Christ fill our hearts and be reflected in our daily life.

Evangelizando en el camino

Lc 24, 13-35

El mismo día de la resurrección, iban dos de los discípulos hacia un pueblo llamado Emaús, situado a unos once kilómetros de Jerusalén, y comentaban todo lo que había sucedido.

Mientras conversaban y discutían, Jesús se les acercó y comenzó a caminar con ellos; pero los ojos de los dos discípulos estaban velados y no lo reconocieron. Él les preguntó: "¿De qué cosas vienen hablando, tan llenos de tristeza?"

Uno de ellos, llamado Cleofás, le respondió: "¿Eres tú el único forastero que no sabe lo que ha sucedido estos días en Jerusalén?" Él les preguntó: "¿Qué cosa?" Ellos le respondieron: "Lo de Jesús el nazareno, que era un profeta poderoso en obras y palabras, ante Dios y ante todo el pueblo. Cómo los sumos sacerdotes y nuestros jefes lo entregaron para que lo condenaran a muerte, y lo crucificaron. Nosotros esperábamos que él sería el libertador de Israel, y sin embargo, han pasado ya tres días desde que estas cosas sucedieron. Es cierto que algunas mujeres de nuestro grupo nos han desconcertado, pues fueron de madrugada al sepulcro, no encontraron el cuerpo y llegaron contando que se les habían aparecido unos ángeles, que les dijeron que estaba vivo. Algunos de nuestros compañeros fueron al sepulcro y hallaron todo como habían dicho las mujeres, pero a él no lo vieron".

Entonces Jesús les dijo: "¡Qué insensatos son ustedes y qué duros de corazón para creer todo lo anunciado por los profetas! ¿Acaso no era necesario que el Mesías padeciera todo esto y así entrara en su gloria?" Y comenzando por Moisés y siguiendo con todos los profetas, les explicó todos los pasajes de la Escritura que se referían a él.

Ya cerca del pueblo a donde se dirigían, él hizo como que iba más lejos; pero ellos le insistieron, diciendo: "Quédate con nosotros, porque ya es tarde y pronto va a oscurecer". Y entró para quedarse con ellos. Cuando estaban a la mesa, tomó un pan, pronunció la bendición, lo partió y se lo dio. Entonces se les abrieron los ojos y lo reconocieron, pero él se les desapareció. Y ellos se decían el uno al otro: "¡Con razón nuestro corazón ardía, mientras nos hablaba por el camino y nos explicaba las Escrituras!"

Se levantaron inmediatamente y regresaron a Jerusalén, donde encontraron reunidos a los Once con sus compañeros, los cuales les dijeron: "De veras ha resucitado el Señor y se le ha aparecido a Simón". Entonces ellos contaron lo que les había pasado en el camino y cómo lo habían reconocido al partir el pan.

GospelLK 24:13-35

That very day, the first day of the week,
two of Jesus’ disciples were going
to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,
Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.
He asked them, 
“What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply,
“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”
And he replied to them, “What sort of things?”
They said to him, 
“The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this,
it is now the third day since this took place.
Some women from our group, however, have astounded us:
they were at the tomb early in the morning 
and did not find his Body;
they came back and reported
that they had indeed seen a vision of angels
who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb
and found things just as the women had described,
but him they did not see.”
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are!
How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things
and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets,
he interpreted to them what referred to him
in all the Scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other,
“Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”
So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together
the Eleven and those with them who were saying,
“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Meditacion:

Camino de la finca, los discípulos de Emaús  hicieron la experiencia del paso de la oscuridad a la luz, de la ceguera a la visión, de la distracción al reconocimiento. Vivieron una catequesis y una experiencia de fe en  la nueva presencia de Cristo. “A ellos se les abrieron los ojos y lo reconocieron. Pero el desapareció”. El camino, la conversación, la explicación de la Escritura, el bendecir y compartir el pan, han sido los elementos de la cristologia. El final verifica la convicción fundamental: “Era verdad, ha resucitado y se ha aparecido a Simón”. A la inversa, la Eucaristía es un sacramento pascual;  los discípulos lo reconocen al partir el pan.

Evangelización. Esta sola palabra a veces nos causa cierto nerviosismo y nos ponemos a la defensiva: Yo no sé cómo compartir el Evangelio. ¿Y si me equivoco? ¿Qué hago si la otra persona me rechaza? Pero evangelizar no significa que debamos explicar el Evangelio completo de una sola vez. Es simplemente cuestión de compartir las buenas noticias con otra persona mientras caminas con algún amigo.

¿A quién podrías acercarte esta semana? Mantén los ojos abiertos para aprovechar las oportunidades de acompañar a otras personas. Porque el objetivo de la evangelización no es solo decir algo que alguien no sepa acerca de Dios, sino escucharle y compartir tus experiencias. Es algo que cualquier persona puede hacer.

“Señor Jesús, ayúdame a dar el primer paso. Enséñame a conectarme con alguien y compartir mi fe.” Amen

On the way to the farm, the disciples of Emmaus experienced the passage from darkness to light, from blindness to vision, from distraction to recognition. They lived a catechesis and an experience of faith in the new presence of Christ. "They opened their eyes and recognized him. But he disappeared. " The path, the conversation, the explanation of Scripture, the blessing and sharing of bread, have been the elements of Christology. The end verifies the fundamental conviction: "It was true, it has risen and it has appeared to Simon". Conversely, the Eucharist is a paschal sacrament; the disciples recognize him by breaking the bread.

Evangelism. This single word sometimes causes us some nervousness and we put ourselves on the defensive: I do not know how to share the Gospel. What if I'm wrong? What do I do if the other person rejects me? But evangelizing does not mean that we should explain the whole Gospel in one go. It is simply a matter of sharing the good news with another person while walking with a friend.

Who could you approach this week? Keep your eyes open to take advantage of opportunities to accompany other people. Because the goal of evangelization is not just to say something that someone does not know about God, but to listen to him and share your experiences. It is something that anyone can do.

"Lord Jesus, help me take the first step. Teach me to connect with someone and share my faith. "Amen
