Lectura del santo evangelio según san Lucas (9,46-50):

En aquel tiempo, los discípulos se pusieron a discutir quién era el más importante.
Jesús, adivinando lo que pensaban, cogió de la mano a un niño, lo puso a su lado y les dijo: «El que acoge a este niño en mi nombre me acoge a mí; y el que me acoge a mí acoge al que me ha enviado. El más pequeño de vosotros es el más importante.»
Juan tomó la palabra y dijo: «Maestro, hemos visto a uno que echaba demonios en tu nombre y, como no es de los nuestros, se lo hemos querido impedir.»
Jesús le respondió: «No se lo impidáis; el que no está contra vosotros está a favor vuestro.»

An argument arose among the disciples
about which of them was the greatest.
Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child
and placed it by his side and said to them,
"Whoever receives this child in my name receives me,

is the one who is the greatest."

Then John said in reply,
"Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name
and we tried to prevent him

Meditacion:

Que hermoso pasaje es este para despedir el mes de Setiembre!

Si se acuerdan, en la ultima semana vimos en el evangelio como los discipulos estaban mas preocupados por ver quien iba a ser primero en el Reino de los Cielos que por la verdadera mision del apostol: el servicio a los demas.

Es por eso que Jesus pone el ejemplo del niño y de una vez por todas termina con la discusion  «El que acoge a este niño en mi nombre me acoge a mí; y el que me acoge a mí acoge al que me ha enviado. El más pequeño de vosotros es el más importante.».

Ser como niños ante los ojos de Jesus era haberse desprendido de todo lo que nos sobra y, sencillamente, como decia San Pablo, “Por humildad, cada uno considere a los demás como superiores a sí mismo” (Filipenses 2, 3).

Pero aun pasa algo mas en el evangelio de hoy que es muy interesante.

Juan toma la palabra y le consulta a Jesus:  «Maestro, hemos visto a uno que echaba demonios en tu nombre y, como no es de los nuestros, se lo hemos querido impedir.»

Ahh miren hermanos cuantas veces nos creemos que tenemos "LA" verdad y que todo el resto del mundo esta equivocado!!

Cuantas veces cometemos el pecado de la soberbia y el orgullo porque somos "los catolicos", "los cristianos", "los ya salvados".

Miren aca lo que dice Jesus «No se lo impidáis; el que no está contra vosotros está a favor vuestro.»

Como dice el Papa Francisco "debemos proteger nuestra pequeñez para dialogar con la grandeza del Señor porque es una relacion personal y unica"'; todos estamos en un diferente lugar a la hora de ver como nos relacionamos con Dios pero somos Iglesia en el caminar hacia el Padre. 

Es un proceso lento, pero si perseveramos, Dios nos bendecirá el ciento por uno.

“Gracias, Señor Jesús, por tocar mi corazón y venir a mi vida. He aprendido bastante, pero aún me falta mucho.” Amen

What a beautiful passage this is to say goodbye to the month of September!

John takes the floor and asks Jesus: "Master, we have seen one who cast demons in your name and, as it is not ours, we wanted to prevent it."

How many times do we commit the sin of pride and pride because we are "the Catholics", "the Christians", "those already saved".

Lc 9, 43-45

El evangelista nos lleva otra vez al contraste entre el éxito actual de Jesús y el futuro sombrío que le espera. Es la segunda predicción explícita de la pasión, lección repetida, por ser difícil de retener: "grabenselo bien en la cabeza".

Mucho más que de Jesús, Lucas en este caso nos habla de los discípulos, y lo hace con reiteraciones: no entienden, no captan el sentido, les resulta oscuro. Es extraño que Dios -sujeto indiscutible de la frase principal, en la forma del llamado "pasivo divino"- entregue a su Hijo, y es aún más extraño que esa entrega sea la culminación de una vida mesiánica y la fuente de vida para cuantos crean en Él. Hay un halo de misterio que embarga a los seguidores: "les daba miedo preguntarle". Esta última frase, tomada literalmente del evangelio de Marcos, tiene allí más sentido, pues, con motivo de la anterior predicción del sufrimiento,

Meditacion:

“Estando una vez orando a solas…” ¡Cuánto nos gustaría asomarnos a esa intimidad de Jesús con el Padre en la oración! Por la pregunta que dirige a los discípulos, da a entender que el tema de la oración era cómo estaba reaccionando la gente de Galilea a sus enseñanzas.

Jesús quiere cumplir con fidelidad la voluntad del Padre de reinar en medio de su pueblo. Ese enorme deseo lo hace caminar de sinagoga en sinagoga, “recorría toda Galilea proclamando que el Reino de Dios está cerca”, dice el texto.

Jesús es humano y quiere ver los frutos de sus esfuerzos.

¿Habían comprendido las multitudes lo que habían visto y oído de Él? ¿Dónde están, qué hacen, a qué se dedican tantos que lo han escuchado? ¿En qué ha mejorado el ambiente de aquellas comunidades rurales después de escuchar su palabra y de ver sus milagros? Muchas preguntas, ciertamente.

Se hace presente seguramente también en su oración aquella variedad de opiniones tan diversas acerca de quién es Él. La gente lo identifica sin más con algún personaje famoso del pasado, pero a Él no lo han reconocido todavía, por eso pregunta directamente a sus discípulos:

-“Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo?”

Hoy también el debate sobre Jesús sigue más abierto que nunca, aderezado además por los más variados intereses y al servicio de una audiencia que no conoce fronteras gracias a la globalización. Hablar de Jesús siempre suscita interés. Él no deja a nadie indiferente, porque su palabra, su persona toca las fibras más profundas del corazón humano.

¿Quién soy yo para ti, querido amigo, querida amiga?, nos pregunta Jesús ahora al terminar de leer este texto.

"Once we were praying alone ..." How much we would like to look at that intimacy of Jesus with the Father in prayer! From the question he addresses to the disciples, he implies that the theme of prayer was how the people of Galilee were reacting to their teachings.

El texto del evangelio de San Lucas nos habla hoy de los cuestionamientos de Herodes acerca de Jesús y nos sontúa en el ambiente de su predicación y actuación profética.

Los rumores que sobre él se van extendiendo, que volvemos a encontrar con motivo de la confesión de Pedro (¿"quién dice la gente que soy yo?") nos hablan de la gran resonancia y las expectativas que el carpintero de Galilea suscitó con su extraño género de vida y su profetismo radical.

Compararle con Elías supone verle introduciendo el final de los tiempos.

Parangonarle con el Bautista es subrayar la radicalidad de su mensaje y la libertad de pronunciarlo ante los poderosos.

Meditacion:

Cuantos de nosotros, que nos llamamos cristianos, catolicos o lo que deseen se animarian a ir por la vida de la manera que Cristo lo plantea hoy dia?

Dejar todo, confiar en la providencia y lanzarse a evangelizar y curar a nuestros hermanos?

Cuantos inclusos religiosos, curas, monjas, evangelistas, pastores dejarian todo "a la providencia"?

Una de las cosas que mas me admira a veces es ver como ciertos Pastores se preocupan mas por el salario que reciben que por el trabajo que evangelico que han sido llevados a hacer. Y van por la vida, pensando que ser curas, monjas, o vicarias es un modo de vida, un trabajo.

Pero Jesus les dijo "No lleven nada para el camino: ni bastón, ni morral, ni comida, ni dinero, ni dos túnicas".

Si vivimos en la eterna condicion de dar, Dios proveera por nosotros. Hace dos dias, conoci alguien que vive asi. Y estoy hablando de alquien que vive mal, que tiene un buen trabajo, salario, que vive realmente bien. Pero este señor me comento que hace mucho tiempo comprendio que nada es suyo, que solo es un administrador de los bienes que Dios le da para administrar. Me hizo una donacion importante. Y asi vive, desapegado de las cosas materiales y lo mismo le siguen llegando. Eso se llama providencia.

Por eso, no permitas que la falta de preparación o de recursos te impida empezar a servir y ayudar a otros. Las cosas no siempre funcionan a la perfección, ni siquiera para los santos y hasta los apóstoles tenían sus altos y bajos. Después de que salieron a predicar con todo éxito, cuando volvieron seguían sin comprender a Jesús, al punto de que algunos lo abandonaron y hasta lo negaron. Tú también puede tener altibajos, pero no te preocupes; solamente da el primer paso en fe y deja que Dios provea lo que te hace falta.

 Confía en que el Señor te dará lo que necesites para servir a aquellos que caminan junto a ti. Recuerda que el mismo Señor es quien realiza las obras que te encomienda a ti, y lo único que tienes que hacer es ser dócil a sus inspiraciones.

“Señor, ayúdame a confiar en que tú me darás lo que necesito para cumplir tus obras.” Amen

One of the things I admire sometimes is to see how certain Pastors care more about the salary they receive than the work they have been evangelized to do. And they go through life, thinking that being priests, nuns, or vicars is a way of life, a job.

But Jesus told them "Do not take anything for the road: no stick, no backpack, no food, no money, no two robes."

If we live in the eternal condition of giving, God will provide for us. Two days ago, I met someone who lives like this. And I'm talking about someone who lives badly, who has a good job, salary, who lives really well. But this man told me that a long time ago he understood that nothing is his, that he is only an administrator of the goods that God gives him to administer. He made an important donation. And so he lives, detached from material things and the same keep coming. That is called providence.

Therefore, do not let the lack of preparation or resources prevent you from starting to serve and help others. Things do not always work perfectly, even for the saints and even the apostles had their ups and downs. Lc 8, 19-21

En aquel tiempo, fueron a ver a Jesús su madre y sus parientes, pero no podían llegar hasta donde él estaba porque había mucha gente. Entonces alguien le fue a decir: "Tu madre y tus hermanos están allá afuera y quieren verte". Pero él respondió: "Mi madre y mis hermanos son aquellos que escuchan la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica".

Meditacion:

Este evangelio de San Lucas puede sonarnos extraño, como separado de todo lo que Jesus nos viene hablando sobre caridad y comprension.

Pero Jesus ya nos habia prevenido: aquel que desee seguirme debe dejar padre y madre, tomar su cruz y seguirme.

Seguir a Jesus es un proceso interno, personal y unico para cada persona, todos estamos en un momento distinto de esa relacion, a veces mas alejados, a veces mas cercano al ideal de santidad.

Es por eso que el unico faro que nos guia debe ser Jesus, solo El encarna la perfeccion de la entrega y el servicio.

“Los que oyen el mensaje de Dios y lo ponen en práctica, esos son mi madre y mis hermanos.” Es posible que esta declaración de Jesús suene extraña, como si estuviese menospreciando la importancia de su propia familia, pero Jesús sabía que podía poner a su madre, la Santísima Virgen María, como ejemplo supremo de quien escucha y acepta la Palabra de Dios.

Cabe suponer que María solía leer  las Escrituras hebreas y meditar en la Palabra de Dios; solo así pudo haber aprendido a atesorar la promesa de la salvación y reconocer la voz de Dios y; precisamente por estar acostumbrada a escuchar a Dios fue que pudo responder sin vacilación al ángel del Señor: “Que Dios haga conmigo como me has dicho” (Lucas 1, 38). Ella fue sin duda alguien que escuchó la Palabra de Dios y la puso en práctica.

Por fe, María se entregó libre y completamente a la voluntad de Dios. San Lucas la presenta diciendo: “Mi alma alaba la grandeza del Señor” (Lucas 1, 46), poderosa declaración que denota al mismo tiempo humildad de espíritu, porque posterga su propia persona y exalta a Dios por encima de todo. De esta forma, la Virgen decidió hacer la voluntad de Dios antes que la suya.

Estas cualidades de escuchar y poner en práctica la Palabra de Dios hacen de María el prototipo del auténtico discípulo de Cristo. Poniéndola a ella como ejemplo, el Señor enseñó lo que significa entregarse en manos del Señor, porque ella era alguien que escuchaba con plena atención. Pidámosle al Señor que nos conceda la gracia de imitar a su madre santísima en su forma de escuchar la palabra y guardarla en su corazón.

“Amado Señor Jesús, envía tu Espíritu Santo y ayúdame a vivir como auténtico discípulo tuyo.” Amen

She was certainly someone who heard the Word of God and put it into practice.

By faith, Mary gave herself freely and completely to the will of God. Saint Luke presents it by saying: "My soul praises the greatness of the Lord" (Luke 1:46), a powerful statement that denotes at the same time humility of spirit, because it postpones its own person and exalts God above all else. In this way, the Virgin decided to do God's will before her own.

These qualities of listening and putting into practice the Word of God make Mary the prototype of the true disciple of Christ. Using her as an example, the Lord taught what it means to surrender to the Lord, because she was someone who listened with full attention. Let us ask the Lord to grant us the grace to imitate his most holy mother in his way of hearing the word and keeping it in his heart.

"Beloved Lord Jesus, send your Holy Spirit and help me to live as your true disciple." Amen

Jesus said to the crowd:
“No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel
or sets it under a bed;
rather, he places it on a lampstand
so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible,
and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear.
To anyone who has, more will be given,
and from the one who has not,
even what he seems to have will be taken away.”

Meditacion:

Hoy es el memorial de San Pio de Pietrelcina, un Santo monje que vivio hasta 1968. En el transcurso de su vida como fraile, se dedico a hacer realidad este evangelio de hoy, poner la verdad de Jesus por sobre todo, iluminar con su  amor a cuantos mas pudo.

Porque veamos, ¿qué es lo que la luz de Cristo nos ayuda a ver? En primer lugar, lo que nos revela no es apenas un conjunto de verdades acerca de Dios; nos muestra a Dios mismo: su misericordia, su amor y su fidelidad. Y cuando Dios se nos revela, siempre nos ilumina, tanto el corazón como la mente. Así podemos verlo más claramente y surge en nosotros el deseo de seguirlo más de cerca.

Por ejemplo, si lees la parábola del hijo pródigo, podrías visualizarte a ti mismo como el joven que regresa a casa y como bienvenida recibe el abrazo cariñoso del padre. O si recuerdas una experiencia conmovedora que tuviste en una Confesión, eso puede ayudarte a ser más comprensivo con otros, porque puedes compartir la misericordia que has recibido. Dios puede utilizar circunstancias como ésas para hacer brillar su luz en tu corazón, y al hacerlo dispersar algo de la oscuridad que puede haber allí.

Es posible que no lo veas con claridad al principio. Así como cuando uno entra en un cuarto en penumbras, al principio cuesta mucho ver lo que allí hay, pues los ojos se tienen que acostumbrar a la poca luz disponible; pero después de un rato los ojos se van habituando y se puede ver más claramente. De igual manera, mientras más tiempo pases en la presencia de Dios, mejor podrás percibir lo que el Señor te esté revelando.

Dios ha querido darse a conocer desde el principio de los tiempos, y lo sigue haciendo ahora mismo, y para eso está continuamente colocando su luz sobre el candelabro para que todos la vean y la reconozcan. Y ten por seguro que su luz brilla incluso en los lugares más inesperados, así que abre los ojos para que la veas.

“Amado Jesús, haz que tu luz alumbre claramente lo que yo vea y ayúdame a enfocarme en ti y en tu revelación.” Amen

You may not see it clearly at first. Just as when one enters a room in darkness, at first it is very difficult to see what is there, because the eyes have to get used to the little light available; but after a while the eyes become accustomed and can be seen more clearly. In the same way, the more time you spend in the presence of God, the better you can perceive what the Lord is revealing to you.

God has wanted to make himself known since the beginning of time, and he continues to do so right now, and for that he is continually placing his light on the lampstand so that everyone can see and recognize it. And rest assured that its light shines even in the most unexpected places, so open your eyes for you to see.
