Lc 17, 11-19

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús iba de camino a Jerusalén, pasó entre Samaria y Galilea. Estaba cerca de un pueblo, cuando le salieron al encuentro diez leprosos, los cuales se detuvieron a lo lejos y a gritos le decían: "Jesús, maestro, ten compasión de nosotros".

Al verlos, Jesús les dijo: "Vayan a presentarse a los sacerdotes". Mientras iban de camino, quedaron limpios de la lepra.

Uno de ellos, al ver que estaba curado, regresó, alabando a Dios en voz alta, se postró a los pies de Jesús y le dio las gracias. Ése era un samaritano. Entonces dijo Jesús: "¿No eran diez los que quedaron limpios? ¿Dónde están los otros nueve? ¿No ha habido nadie, fuera de este extranjero, que volviera para dar gloria a Dios?" Después le dijo al samaritano: "Levántate y vete. Tu fe te ha salvado".

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem,
he traveled through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten persons with leprosy met him.
They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices, saying,

Meditacion:

Hoy celebramos por aca el Dia de Accion de Gracias, un dia donde se reunen las familias a agradecer por los bienes recibidos en este año.

Por eso por hoy el evangelio no es de un tono amenazante y apocaliptico como venia siendo sino que volvemos a una lectura de hace unas semanas atras, la de la curacion de los leprosos.

La historia es, generalmente, escrita por los que ganan. Hoy me pregunto que historia habran escrito los otros 9 leprosos que no volvieron? Es posible vivir una transformacion tan profunda como la que ellos vivieron y seguir como si nada hubiera pasado?

El contacto con Jesus es siempre transformador, definitivo y sin vuelta atras; es por eso que nos inunda una alegria profunda, y un sentido de gratitud cuando caminamos en su gracia.

Como les decia, hoy celebramos por aca Dia de Accion de Gracias, no esta mal parar un dia, cenar todos juntos como una gran familia. Lo realmente importante seria seguir teniendo ese sentimiento manana, pasado y los otros 364 dias hasta la proxima celebracion, que de una vez por todas nos veamos como una enorme familia humana, sin distincion de color, raza o credo.

Entonces hoy, seamos ese leproso que vuelve a agradecer por los bienes recibidos, convirtamos nuestras enfermedades en mision y vivamos nuestra vida proclamando los valores de nuestra fe: Amor a Dios y nuestros hermanos, la certeza de Cristo resucitado, la esperanza de una resurreccion eterna.

Dios los bendiga hoy y siempre a ustedes y sus familias. Amen

Today we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, a day where families gather to thank for the goods received this year.

That is why for today the gospel is not of a menacing and apocalyptic tone as it had been, but we return to a reading a few weeks ago, that of the healing of lepers.

History is generally written by those who win. Today I wonder what story the other 9 lepers who did not return have written? Is it possible to live a transformation as deep as the one they experienced and continue as if nothing had happened?

The contact with Jesus is always transformative, definitive and without turning back; That is why we are filled with deep joy, and a sense of gratitude when we walk in his grace.

As I said, today we celebrate Thanksgiving Day, it is not bad to stop one day, have dinner together as a big family. Lc 21, 12-19

"They will seize and persecute you,

Meditacion:

El evangelista Lucas, al transmitir esos sombríos presagios de Jesús sobre el futuro de sus discípulos, no deja pasar la ocasión de exhortar a la acción evangelizadora: para el discípulo entusiasta, el juicio será una oportunidad para dar testimonio. De paso, recuerda a sus lectores la presencia de Jesús en medio de los suyos (él les inspirará la palabra oportuna) y la providencia amorosa del Padre (que mira hasta por el último de sus cabellos). Por un lado, el discípulo que es juzgado por haber vivido de acuerdo con su fe no necesita grandes autoapologías; su vida misma, aquello por lo que es perseguido, debiera ser su más elocuente, irrefutable defensa.

Si caminamos en la gracia de Dios no importa nuestra denominacion, nuestra vida habla por nosotros.

Por otro, Dios se cuida de sus hijos, en cuyos brazos paternales descansan tranquilos. Ya previamente había advertido: “no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo pero no pueden hacer nada más” (Lc 12,4). Y no es que el evangelista sea un neoplatónico despreciador de la materia, del cuerpo de carne; él cree en la creación y la resurrección. Lo que le importa es recordarnos que nuestra más íntima identidad personal la tiene Dios en sus manos. Mientras él “nos piensa” y “nos nombra”, sostiene nuestra existencia.

No tengan miedo

Lc 21, 5-11

En aquel tiempo, como algunos ponderaban la solidez de la construcción del templo y la belleza de las ofrendas votivas que lo adornaban, Jesús dijo: "Días vendrán en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra de todo esto que están admirando; todo será destruido".

Entonces le preguntaron: "Maestro, ¿cuándo va a ocurrir esto y cuál será la señal de que ya está a punto de suceder?"

Meditacion:

Estamos en los últimos días del año litúrgico y los textos de la celebración eucarística pertenecen a un género llamado apocalíptico, género hoy en desuso excepto en algunas sectas o en grupos que se alimentan de apariciones y mensajes frecuentemente muy discutibles. Pero fue un género muy socorrido en el judaísmo de la época de Jesús y en el cristianismo de las primeras décadas. Y no era sólo un modo de expresión, sino toda una mentalidad histórico-religiosa: contaban con una muy próxima intervención de Dios sobre la historia, intervención que pondría fin a una época y que tendría espectaculares manifestaciones cósmicas.

Hoy leemos en el Evangelio que, en vez de ofrecer pistas para responder a estas preguntas, Jesús dio un simple consejo: No se preocupen. “Que no los domine el pánico.” Pero no fueron solamente las preguntas sobre su Segunda Venida las que provocaron que él diera esta respuesta, pues, en la Última Cena, el Señor había aconsejado a sus discípulos: “No se angustien ustedes” (Juan 14, 1), y en el curso de su ministerio, dijo a todos sus seguidores: “El Padre, en su bondad, ha decidido darles el Reino.”

En todas las situaciones, frente a cualquier preocupación, Jesús ofrece las mismas palabras: “No se angustien; mi Padre está con ustedes. Yo nunca los dejaré ni los abandonaré.” Hoy, cuando el año litúrgico de la Iglesia se acerca a su fin, Jesús nos dice que no tengamos miedo. Posiblemente presenciarás cosas perturbadoras, puedes enterarte de noticias aterradoras, pero no permitas que te abrumen.

Sería maravilloso que pudiéramos iniciar el nuevo año litúrgico aferrándonos a esta simple frase: “No voy a tener miedo.” ¿Cierto?

Donacion

Lc 21, 1-4

En aquel tiempo, levantando los ojos, Jesús vio a unos ricos que echaban sus donativos en las alcancías del templo. Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy me puso a pensar porque damos a veces.

Existe un dar agresivo y humillante, un dar paternalista, desde una actitud de superioridad; y existe un dar gozoso y creador de comunión, donde la dádiva va acompañada de conversación, de interés por la situación de quien pide, por entrar en sus sentimientos. San Vicente de Paul decía a Santa Luisa de Marillac y a su congregación de Hijas de la Caridad: “Sólo por el amor que pongáis en ello os perdonarán los pobres el pan que les deis”.

La donacion a veces tambien es pura vanidad, la necesidad tan humana de figurar "haciendo el bien" y esa, creo, es la peor de todas.

Vamos a misa, colaboramos con la Parroquia, damos limosna a los que menos tienen pero lo hacemos por nosotros mismos, para quedar bien ante nuestros hermanos.

Alejemonos de esa manera de brindarnos, no es buena ni es la que ayudara a nuestra elevacion.

Demos de corazon, brindemos de lo poco o mucho que tenemos pero movidos por el Espiritu Santo, convirtiendonos asi en una herramienta en las manos de nuestro Creador.

“Amado Señor, ayúdame a dar una buena ofrenda en Misa a partir de hoy y darte toda mi vida cada día. Quiero entregarme a ti con todo lo que tengo y todo lo que soy.” Amen

Today's gospel made me think because we give sometimes.

We go to Mass, we collaborate with the Parish, we give alms to those who have less but we do it for ourselves, to look good before our brothers.

Let's get away from that way of giving ourselves, it is not good nor is it the one that will help our elevation.

Let us give our hearts, we give what little or much we have but moved by the Holy Spirit, thus becoming a tool in the hands of our Creator.

Resurreccion

Lc 20, 27-40

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús algunos saduceos. Como los saduceos niegan la resurrección de los muertos, le preguntaron: "Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito que si alguno tiene un hermano casado que muere sin haber tenido hijos, se case con la viuda para dar descendencia a su hermano. Hubo una vez siete hermanos, el mayor de los cuales se casó y murió sin dejar hijos. El segundo, el tercero y los demás, hasta el séptimo, tomaron por esposa a la viuda y todos murieron sin dejar sucesión. Por fin murió también la viuda. Ahora bien, cuando llegue la resurrección, ¿de cuál de ellos será esposa la mujer, pues los siete estuvieron casados con ella?"

Jesús les dijo: "En esta vida, hombres y mujeres se casan, pero en la vida futura, los que sean juzgados dignos de ella y de la resurrección de los muertos, no se casarán ni podrán ya morir, porque serán como los ángeles e hijos de Dios, pues él los habrá resucitado.

Y que los muertos resucitan, el mismo Moisés lo indica en el episodio de la zarza, cuando llama al Señor, Dios de Abraham, Dios de Isaac, Dios de Jacob. Porque Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos, pues para él todos viven''.

Entonces, unos escribas le dijeron: "Maestro, has hablado bien". Y a partir de ese momento ya no se atrevieron a preguntarle nada.

Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,
came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying,
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us,

the first married a woman but died childless.
Then the second and the third married her,

"The children of this age marry and remarry;

Hoy leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros":

Postrada en la camilla de la enfermería a la edad de veinticuatro años, Santa Teresa de Lisieux analizó su situación con paz: “No me estoy muriendo —le escribió a una amiga— estoy entrando en la vida.”

Lejos de llenarse de pesar ante la perspectiva de la muerte, Teresita se regocijó y pudo escribir estas palabras, aunque había experimentado la ausencia de Dios durante buena parte de su enfermedad. Estaba pasando por una noche oscura del alma, pero sabía por la fe que la eternidad la estaba esperando y que ahí se uniría a su Esposo, el Señor Jesús. Con razón sus últimas palabras fueron “Dios mío… ¡te amo!”

Las lecturas de hoy nos recuerdan que la muerte tampoco es el final para nosotros. La resurrección a la vida eterna espera a todos los fieles de Dios después de la muerte. Primero, el alma se levantará para estar para siempre con el Señor. Luego, en el último día, Dios infundirá vida en nuestro cuerpo, así como lo hizo con los profetas. Jesús dijo que ese día, seremos como los ángeles, refiriéndose a que ya no estaremos sometidos a la muerte (Lucas 20, 36).

¿Por qué no dedicas un momento en oración para anticipar tu parte en esta resurrección? Usa tu imaginación. Tal vez, al igual que Santa Teresa, vislumbra tu eternidad en la gloria del Señor.

En el tiempo por venir, tú seguirás siendo tú mismo, pues tu personalidad no se perderá. Al contrario, brillará con fuerza y plenitud porque serás liberado de una naturaleza frágil y pecadora. Mi casa es casa de oracion

Lc 19, 45-48

Aquel día, Jesús entró en el templo y comenzó a echar fuera a los que vendían y compraban allí, diciéndoles: "Está escrito: Mi casa es casa de oración; pero ustedes la han convertido en cueva de ladrones".

Jesús enseñaba todos los días en el templo. Por su parte, los sumos sacerdotes, los escribas y los jefes del pueblo, intentaban matarlo, pero no encontraban cómo hacerlo, porque todo el pueblo estaba pendiente de sus palabras.

Meditacion:

"Mi casa será una casa de oración; pero ustedes han hecho de ella una cueva de ladrones". (Lucas 19, 46)

Leer esto a la luz de los recientes escandalos financieros en el que esta envuelto muchas Iglesias la verdad, produce dolor.

Muchas denominaciones usan la religion para traficar, para vender y comprar y en nombre de la Iglesia incluso se ha matado y exterminado minorias. 

Pareciera que Jesus y su legado sigue produciendo revoluciones alli donde va.

Pero la unica revolucion que Jesus nos pide es el amor mutuo, reconociendo que todos somos pecadores y que todos somos hijos de Dios.

Dentro de unos dias comenzaremos Adviento, seria una muy buena idea ir a confesarnos antes de Adviento para comenzar una nueva etapa del año liturgico  reconciliado con nuestra Iglesia.

"My house will be a house of prayer; but you have made it a cave of thieves." (Luke 19, 46)

Reading this in light of the recent financial scandals in which many Churches are involved, the truth causes pain.

Many denominations use religion to traffic, to sell and buy and in the name of the Church minorities have even been killed and exterminated.

It seems that Jesus and his legacy continue to produce revolutions wherever he goes.

But the only revolution Jesus asks us is mutual love, recognizing that we are all sinners and that we are all children of God.

In a few days we will begin Advent, it would be a very good idea to go to confession before Advent to begin a new stage of the liturgical year reconciled with our Church.

Piedra sobre piedra

Lc 19, 41-44

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús estuvo cerca de Jerusalén y contempló la ciudad, lloró por ella y exclamó:

"¡Si en este día comprendieras tú lo que puede conducirte a la paz! Pero eso está oculto a tus ojos. Ya vendrán días en que tus enemigos te rodearán de trincheras, te sitiarán y te atacarán por todas partes y te arrasarán. Matarán a todos tus habitantes y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, porque no aprovechaste la oportunidad que Dios te daba".

GospelLK 19:41-44

As Jesus drew near Jerusalem,
he saw the city and wept over it, saying,
"If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.
For the days are coming upon you
when your enemies will raise a palisade against you;
they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.
They will smash you to the ground and your children within you,
and they will not leave one stone upon another within you
because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Meditacion:

En una semana comienza el tiempo de adviento y terminaran esta serie de evangelios que yo llamo "la larga marcha" porque todos son escritos de hechos que se produjeron mientras Jesus iba camino a Jerusalen.

Jesus anticipo la destruccion de la ciudad y su templo, en el año 70 DC, las tropas romanas invadirian la ciudad y todo fue destruido. No hubo y no hay mas "templo de Jerusalen" porque los judios hablan de la Jerusalen celestial que vendra con la venida de Jesus al final de los tiempos.

De la misma manera, nosotros tambien somos un templo de Dios y podemos ser destruido por el pecado y las tentaciones.

No se destruye un alma por "un" solo pecado sino por la continua aceptacion de la maldad en nuestras acciones. Esa "pequeña" mentira hoy, ese "me llevo esto total nadie se va a dar cuenta", ese "llego tarde a mi trabajo", todas esas pequeñeces que nos parecen insignificantes son las que van llenando nuestro corazon de tinieblas.

No aceptemos hermanos entonces ese pecado insistente e insignificante que nos impide caminar bajo la gracia de Dios.

“Amado Señor Jesús, enséñame a demostrar tu compasión y tu valentía, para que el mundo reconozca tu santa presencia.” Amen

In a week the time of advent begins and this series of gospels that I call "the long march" will end because they are all written of facts that occurred while Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.

Jesus anticipated the destruction of the city and its temple, in 70 AD, Roman troops would invade the city and everything was destroyed. There was and there is no more "Temple of Jerusalem" because the Jews speak of the heavenly Jerusalem that will come with the coming of Jesus at the end of time.

In the same way, we are also a temple of God and can be destroyed by sin and temptations.

A soul is not destroyed by "one" only sin but by the continued acceptance of evil in our actions. That "little" lie today, that "I take this totally nobody will notice", that "I'm late for my work", all those little things that seem insignificant are those that are filling our hearts with darkness.

Let us not accept brothers, then, that insistent and insignificant sin that prevents us from walking under the grace of God.

"Beloved Lord Jesus, teach me to show your compassion and your courage, so that the world recognizes your holy presence." Amen
