Elias & Juan

Mt 17, 10-13

En aquel tiempo, los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús: "¿Por qué dicen los escribas que primero tiene que venir Elías?"

Él les respondió: "Ciertamente Elías ha de venir y lo pondrá todo en orden. Es más, yo les aseguro a ustedes que Elías ha venido ya, pero no lo reconocieron e hicieron con él cuanto les vino en gana. Del mismo modo, el Hijo del hombre va a padecer a manos de ellos".

Entonces entendieron los discípulos que les hablaba de Juan el Bautista.

Meditacion:

Querida familia evangelica. Ha sido un año cargado de cosas buenas y otras para aprender. Hoy me tomo un descanso hasta Enero por lo que no habra meditaciones.

Volveran a encontrarlas en Enero 10.

Tengan todos y cada uno de ustedes una feliz Navidad y un mejor Año nuevo.

Ahora si, leamos la ultima reflexion del 2019.

Cuando bajaban del Monte de la Transfiguración, los discípulos le preguntaron al Señor por qué estaba escrito que Elías debía volver antes de la llegada del Mesías. En respuesta, Jesús les aclaró que “Elías” ya había venido en la persona de Juan el Bautista.

Hay muchas semejanzas entre estos dos profetas. Los dos amaron profundamente a Dios y se dedicaron completamente a hacer su voluntad; los dos vivieron con gran sencillez; los dos proclamaron un convincente mensaje de arrepentimiento y los dos enfrentaron sin miedo a reyes malvados.

El Adviento, es una temporada llena de figuras, sonidos y colores que nos distraen: ropa de fantasía, alimentos especiales, reuniones festivas, compras de regalos y canto de villancicos. Todo esto es bueno y conveniente, y de hecho nos ayuda a recordar que el nacimiento que nos preparamos para celebrar en la Navidad es realmente valioso.

Pero con lo tiernos y reconfortantes que son estos preparativos, a todos nos convendría dedicar algo de tiempo a imitar a Elías y Juan el Bautista.

Está bien dejar de lado de vez en cuando las cosas superficiales y centrar la atención en aquellas verdades fundamentales que constituyen la esencia de nuestra preparación para la Navidad, porque en definitiva, lo que es realmente importante no es el número de regalos que compremos o recibamos ni cuánto decoremos el hogar, sino cómo hayamos preparado nuestro corazón para recibir a Cristo y hacer la voluntad de Dios.

Esta llamada —al igual que la que recibieron y asumieron Elías y Juan el Bautista— es sencilla y difícil a la vez. Es sencilla porque no se nos pide hacer mucho más, sino lo debido y hacerlo con un corazón puro y humilde. Pero también es más difícil porque, en cierto modo, hemos de cuidarnos de que, en todo pensamiento y acción, le demos la gloria y el honor al Señor.

Proponte hoy, querido amigo, hacerte tiempo y espacio para orar en presencia de Dios. Olvídate de lo que es superficial y deja que la realidad del amor de Cristo llene tu mente y tu corazón. ¡Esta es la mejor manera de preparar el camino del Señor!

“Amado Jesús, ayúdame a desentenderme de todo lo que es secundario y enfocarme en ti y tu presencia con todo mi corazón y mi mente.”

When they came down from the Mount of Transfiguration, the disciples asked the Lord why it was written that Elijah should return before the arrival of the Messiah. In response, Jesus clarified that "Elijah" had already come in the person of John the Baptist.

There are many similarities between these two prophets. The two deeply loved God and were completely dedicated to doing their will; both lived with great simplicity; the two proclaimed a convincing message of repentance and the two faced fearless evil kings.

Advent is a season full of figures, sounds and colors that distract us: fancy clothes, special foods, festive gatherings, gift shopping and carol singing. All this is good and convenient, and in fact it helps us to remember that the birth we prepare to celebrate at Christmas is really valuable.

But with how tender and comforting these preparations are, we all should spend some time imitating Elijah and John the Baptist.

It is okay to leave aside superficial things from time to time and focus attention on those fundamental truths that constitute the essence of our preparation for Christmas, because ultimately, what is really important is not the number of gifts we buy or receive nor how much we decorate the home, but how we have prepared our heart to receive Christ and do the will of God.

This call - like the one Elias and John the Baptist received and assumed - is simple and difficult at the same time. It is simple because we are not asked to do much more, but rather to do it with a pure and humble heart. But it is also more difficult because, in a way, we must take care that, in every thought and action, we give glory and honor to the Lord.

Propose today, dear friend, to make time and space to pray in the presence of God. Forget about what is superficial and let the reality of Christ's love fill your mind and your heart. This is the best way to prepare the way of the Lord!

"Beloved Jesus, help me to disregard everything that is secondary and focus on you and your presence with all my heart and mind."

Meditacion:

esús consideraba a Juan entre los hombres más grandes. Pero al decir que el menor en el Reino es mayor que Juan, Él estaba diciendo que Juan no era parte de la Iglesia sino que era el último de los profetas del Antiguo Testamento, y habría cumplido con la profecía de Malaquías sobre el retorno de Elías (Malaquías 4:5-6) si ellos lo hubieran aceptado como tal.

En este evangelio Él hace la observación que en Su día no había gente que pudiera ser complacida. Nada los movía. Juan era un asceta y ellos decían que estaba poseído por demonios. Jesús era una “persona corriente” y ellos decían que era un amigo indisciplinado de los pecadores. Igual a algunas personas cristianas de nuestro tiempo, ellos no tienen nada constructivo que contribuir sino que solamente encontraban las faltas con la contribución de otros.

El que vivimos es un tiempo de misericordia y caridad, el amor debe ser la primera mirada y respuesta hacia nuestros semejantes.

Todos, sin excepcion, caminamos hacia nuestro Señor, todos seremos juzgados por nuestros pecados al final de nuestros dias. Cambiemos esa mirada inconformista y cinica por otra llena de amor y compasion por los demas.

“Amado Jesús, infunde valor y paz a quienes hoy son víctimas de persecución y martirio en cualquier parte del mundo.” Amen

Jesus considered John among the greatest men. But in saying that the minor in the Kingdom is greater than John, He was saying that John was not part of the Church but was the last of the Old Testament prophets, and would have fulfilled Malachi's prophecy about Elijah's return (Malachi 4: 5-6) if they had accepted it as such.

In this gospel He makes the observation that in His day there were no people who could be pleased. Nothing moved them. John was an ascetic and they said he was possessed by demons. Jesus was an "ordinary person" and they said he was an undisciplined friend of sinners. Like some Christian people of our time, they have nothing constructive to contribute but only found faults with the contribution of others.

The one we live in is a time of mercy and charity, love must be the first look and response to our fellow men.

All, without exception, we walk to our Lord, we will all be judged for our sins at the end of our days. Let's change that hipster and cynical look for another full of love and compassion for others.

Virgen de Guadalupe

Lc 1, 39-48

En aquellos días, María se encaminó presurosa a un pueblo de las montañas de Judea, y entrando en la casa de Zacarías, saludó a Isabel. En cuanto ésta oyó el saludo de María, la creatura saltó en su seno.

Entonces Isabel quedó llena del Espíritu Santo, y levantando la voz, exclamó: "¡Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu vientre! ¿Quién soy yo, para que la Madre de mi Señor venga a verme? Entonces dijo María: "Mi alma glorifica al Señor y mi espíritu se llena de júbilo en Dios, mi Salvador, porque puso sus ojos en la humildad de su esclava".

Meditacion:

Hoy celebramos la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Patrona de México y Emperatriz de las Américas. En su sabiduría perfecta, el Señor utilizó a su Madre para llamar al pueblo de México y de toda América, a la fe en su Hijo Jesucristo y así librarnos del pecado, sanar los corazones y reconciliar a los enemistados.

La Santísima Virgen de Guadalupe, tal cual se lo dijo a Juan Diego, es verdaderamente la Madre de todos y cada uno de los mexicanos y, por extensión, de todos los pobladores del Continente Americano. Ella ha prodigado sin medida tanto su amor, como su compasión, su auxilio y su defensa en innumerables y constantes favores otorgados a cuantos la invocan. Ella está siempre atenta a escuchar nuestros lamentos y remediar nuestras miserias, pesares y dolores. Y el pueblo ha correspondido a tan alta predilección de la Madre de Dios erigiéndole el templo que ella pedía, que se ha convertido en la magnífica Basílica en que hoy se la venera en México, amándola con todo su corazón y devoción y multiplicando sus santuarios y altares en numerosos templos en el mundo entero.

De hecho, para rendirle un digno culto de veneración, la Iglesia ha dedicado una Misa a la Virgen de Guadalupe, con rito doble de primera clase y oficio propio y fijado como fiesta hoy, 12 de diciembre, día en que ella dejó su imagen estampada en la tilma de Juan Diego.

Mucho es el bien espiritual que la devoción a la Virgen Santísima de Guadalupe ha traído a toda la Iglesia, porque se ha visto que ella escucha las plegarias e infunde confianza en la Providencia Divina y seguridad en su fe. Las peregrinaciones, las visitas a la Basílica, las consagraciones a la Virgen de Guadalupe, las oraciones y novenas que se le ofrecen, las limosnas, velas y flores que se le llevan son otras tantas obras de amor y devoción que, si se hacen en estado de gracia, no quedarán sin retribución.

Escuchemos con amor las palabras de aliento y consolación que nos dirige a todos Nuestra Señora, la Virgen de Guadalupe: “¿No estoy yo aquí que soy tu madre?”

“Amada Virgen de Guadalupe, bendice a nuestras familias. Compadécete de nosotros y guíanos siempre a Jesús, para que sepamos llevar a los demás la alegría y la paz que solo vienen de tu Hijo Jesucristo.” Amen

In fact, to render her a worthy cult of veneration, the Church has dedicated a Mass to the Virgin of Guadalupe, with a double rite of first class and her own office and set as a feast today, December 12, the day she left her stamped image in the tilma of Juan Diego.

Much is the spiritual good that devotion to the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe has brought to the whole Church, because it has been seen that she hears prayers and instills confidence in Divine Providence and confidence in her faith. A veces las situaciones en las que nos encontramos nos parecen tan desesperadas que pensamos que no hay nada que Dios pueda hacer para librarnos; pero Isaías nos recuerda que debemos levantar los ojos hacia el Padre, que demuestra su poder sosteniendo todo el universo en sus manos. ¡Nada es imposible para Dios! A veces pensamos que Dios no se entera de lo que nos está sucediendo; pero Isaías nos recuerda: “Su inteligencia es insondable” (Isaías 40, 28). A él no se le escapa ni el más mínimo detalle.

Tal vez alguien piense que Dios tiene cosas más importantes de las que preocuparse que de la vida de uno, que es insignificante; pero de nuevo Isaías afirma: “Dios da vigor al fatigado y al que no tiene fuerzas” (Isaías 40, 29). Esta magnífica promesa echa por tierra la gran falsedad de que Dios no se interesa por nuestras penurias o dificultades. También podemos pensar que no merecemos la ayuda de Dios, e incluso que parte de la culpa de que las cosas estén saliendo tan mal sea nuestra. La misericordia de Dios siempre está disponible, aun cuando no la merezcamos, pero esa es precisamente la definición de “misericordia”.

Cuando estos pensamientos vengan a tu mente, no te resignes a desear que las cosas sean mejores. La esperanza cristiana es una virtud activa, que te alienta a presentarle tus necesidades al Señor y dejar tu problema en sus manos. Entonces podrás alabarlo de corazón por su poder, conocimiento, sabiduría y su amor incondicional. Finalmente, para deshacerte de estos pensamientos de una vez por todas, busca qué puedes hacer para colaborar con la edificación del Reino de Dios: algún acto de servicio que puedas realizar. Isaías promete que, si lo haces, tus fuerzas serán renovadas.

Sometimes the situations in which we find ourselves seem so desperate that we think there is nothing God can do to free us; but Isaiah reminds us that we must raise our eyes to the Father, who demonstrates his power by holding the entire universe in his hands. Nothing is impossible for God! Sometimes we think that God does not know what is happening to us; but Isaiah reminds us: "His intelligence is unfathomable" (Isaiah 40, 28). He does not miss even the smallest detail.

Perhaps someone thinks that God has more important things to worry about than one's life, which is insignificant; but again Isaiah affirms: "God gives vigor to the weary and the one who has no strength" (Isaiah 40, 29). This magnificent promise spoils the great falsehood that God is not interested in our hardships or difficulties. We may also think that we do not deserve God's help, and even that part of the guilt that things are going so badly is ours. God's mercy is always available, even if we don't deserve it, but that is precisely the definition of "mercy."

When these thoughts come to your mind, don't resign yourself to wishing things were better. Christian hope is an active virtue, which encourages you to present your needs to the Lord and leave your problem in his hands. Then you can praise him from the heart for his power, knowledge, wisdom and his unconditional love. Finally, to get rid of these thoughts once and for all, look for what you can do to help build the Kingdom of God: some act of service you can perform. Isaiah promises that if you do, your strength will be renewed.

Una oveja

Mt 18, 12-14

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “¿Qué les parece? Si un hombre tiene cien ovejas y se le pierde una, ¿acaso no deja las noventa y nueve en los montes, y se va a buscar a la que se le perdió? Y si llega a encontrarla, les aseguro que se alegrará más por ella que por las noventa y nueve que no se le perdieron. De igual modo, el Padre celestial no quiere que se pierda uno solo de estos pequeños”

Meditation:

El pastor de la parábola de hoy estaba tan dedicado a cuidar sus rebaños que no escatimaba sacrificio alguno para rescatar a las ovejas que se descarriaban, y cuando encontró a la que se le había perdido, se alegró sobremanera.

Los profetas del Antiguo Testamento solían comparar al Señor con un pastor, por la manera en que Dios cuidaba a Israel: “Como pastor apacentará su rebaño; llevará en sus brazos a los corderitos recién nacidos y atenderá solícito a sus madres” (Isaías 40, 11). Jesús también se identificó con este “buen pastor” (Juan 10, 11) que sale a buscar a las ovejas perdidas (Lucas 15, 4-5). San Gregorio Magno decía que Jesús incluso “se puso al cordero sobre los hombros porque, al tomar naturaleza humana, llevó nuestros pecados sobre sus espaldas.”

Esto es lo que verdaderamente implica ser pastor: Jesús tomó sobre sí mismo las maldades de todos nosotros, no solo de los que trataban de ser buenos, ni del pequeño grupo de gente religiosa y devota, sino de todos. Es decir, no rechazaba a los pecadores ni evitaba a aquellos que eran despreciados por la gente “respetable” de sus días. Por el contrario, hacía lo posible por guiarlos al camino recto, para que cambiaran de vida.

Recordemos a Zaqueo, el corrupto cobrador de impuestos de pequeña estatura, a la mujer sorprendida en adulterio y al ladrón crucificado al lado de Cristo. Jesús nos pide que procuremos llevar el mensaje a todos y también a gente como ésta; que bendigamos a todos los que encontremos, intercedamos por ellos y estemos dispuestos a demostrarles la compasión del Señor. Especialmente en esta época de Adviento y de Navidad, en la que seguramente participaremos en festivas reuniones familiares, con vecinos o en el trabajo, habrá sin duda numerosas oportunidades para tratar con personas de distintos valores y estilos de vida. Tengamos cuidado de no juzgar, sino más bien procuremos mostrarnos tolerantes, bondadosos y alternar con todos de buen corazón. Pidámosle a Jesús que nos indique quiénes son o dónde están las ovejas perdidas. Cuando salgamos a buscarlas, el Señor nos dará su propio corazón a cambio del nuestro.

“Gracias, Señor, por cuidarnos a todos los que fácilmente nos extraviamos y nos desorientamos. Rescata a todas tus ovejas perdidas, para que nadie se separe de ti y muchos más sean los que se añadan a tu rebaño.” Amen

Inmaculada Concepcion

Lc 1, 26-38

En aquel tiempo, el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una ciudad de Galilea, llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con un varón de la estirpe de David, llamado José. La virgen se llamaba María.

Entró el ángel a donde ella estaba y le dijo: “Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo”. Al oír estas palabras, ella se preocupó mucho y se preguntaba qué querría decir semejante saludo.

El ángel le dijo: “No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia ante Dios. Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo; el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre, y él reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reinado no tendrá fin”.

María le dijo entonces al ángel: “¿Cómo podrá ser esto, puesto que yo permanezco virgen?” El ángel le contestó: “El Espíritu Santo descenderá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra. Por eso, el Santo, que va a nacer de ti, será llamado Hijo de Dios. Ahí tienes a tu parienta Isabel, que a pesar de su vejez, ha concebido un hijo y ya va en el sexto mes la que llamaban estéril, porque no hay nada imposible para Dios”. The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,

But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel,
"How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.

Meditacion:

En el “sí” de María a Dios vemos algo del Inmaculado Corazón de María, pues confió plenamente en su Hacedor, lo amó, quiso obedecerle en todo y hacer cualquier sacrificio para llevar adelante el plan divino para la salvación.

Por eso hoy honramos a la Inmaculada Concepción de la Virgen María. Pero también hacemos bien en recordar que aquello mismo que la preservó de los efectos del pecado en su concepción —los méritos de la pasión, muerte y resurrección de Jesús— se nos comunica a todos los que hemos sido bautizados. En efecto, el Bautismo nos lava el pecado original y nos abre las puertas del cielo; el Espíritu Santo y Jesús hacen su morada en nuestro corazón, de modo que podemos tener la misma actitud de confianza y amor a Dios que tuvo la Virgen María.

Pero, claro, esto no sucede de manera automática. La actitud de la Virgen María tiene que ir brotando en el corazón de cada uno, y crece cuando reconocemos nuestras faltas, nos arrepentimos y nos ponemos al servicio de Dios, nutriéndonos de los sacramentos y la oración. Esta actitud se fortalece también cada vez que vemos a Jesús en los pobres y los necesitados y le brindamos ayuda.

Cuando el Papa Francisco convocó el Jubileo de la Misericordia en 2015, todo ese año fue denominado el Año Santo de la Misericordia, como lo señaló la bula Misericordiae vultus (El rostro de la misericordia).

En esa ocasión afirmó el Papa Francisco: “Estoy convencido de que toda la Iglesia, que tiene tanta necesidad de recibir misericordia porque somos pecadores, encontrará en este Jubileo la alegría para redescubrir y hacer más fecunda la misericordia de Dios, con la cual todos estamos llamados a dar consolación a cada hombre y mujer de nuestro tiempo. Encomendémonos desde ahora a la Madre de la Misericordia, para que ella dirija a nosotros su mirada y vele sobre nuestro camino, para recibir la indulgencia de Dios. . . la misericordia de Dios.”

In the “yes” of Mary to God we see something of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, because she fully trusted her Maker, she loved him, she wanted to obey him in everything and make any sacrifice to carry out the divine plan for salvation.

That is why today we honor the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. But we also do well to remember that what kept her from the effects of sin in her conception - the merits of Jesus' passion, death and resurrection - is communicated to all of us who have been baptized. In fact, Baptism washes away our original sin and opens the doors of heaven; the Holy Spirit and Jesus make their abode in our hearts, so that we can have the same attitude of trust and love to God that the Virgin Mary had.

But, of course, this does not happen automatically. The attitude of the Virgin Mary must spring up in each one's heart, and it grows when we recognize our faults, repent and put ourselves at the service of God, nourishing ourselves with the sacraments and prayer. This attitude is also strengthened every time we see Jesus in the poor and needy and help him.

When Pope Francis convened the Jubilee of Mercy in 2015, that whole year was called the Holy Year of Mercy, as noted by the bull Misericordiae vultus (The face of mercy).

On that occasion Pope Francis affirmed: “I am convinced that the whole Church, which is so in need of receiving mercy because we are sinners, will find in this Jubilee the joy to rediscover and make the mercy of God more fruitful, with which we are all called to give comfort to every man and woman of our time. Let us entrust ourselves now to the Mother of Mercy, so that she may direct her gaze to us and watch over our path, to receive the indulgence of God. . . the mercy of God. ”

La cosecha es mucha

Mt 9, 35–10, 1. 6-8

En aquel tiempo, Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y los pueblos, enseñando en las sinagogas, predicando el Evangelio del Reino y curando toda enfermedad y dolencia. Al ver a las multitudes, se compadecía de ellas, porque estaban extenuadas y desamparadas, como ovejas sin pastor. Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: “La cosecha es mucha y los trabajadores, pocos. Rueguen, por lo tanto, al dueño de la mies que envíe trabajadores a sus campos”.

Después, llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio poder para expulsar a los espíritus impuros y curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias. Les dijo: “Vayan en busca de las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos. Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
because they were troubled and abandoned,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples,
"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest."

Then he summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.

Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them thus,
"Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give."

Meditacion:

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús nos remite a un tiempo de espera. Él ya vino y sembró la semilla del Reino. Sus discípulos, los de entonces y los de ahora, que hemos recibido la Buena Noticia y la semilla de ese Mundo nuevo, debemos dar gratis lo que recibimos gratis. Los cristianos de hoy, como los de todos los tiempos, entre la primera venida del Señor y la definitiva, hemos sido enviados como trabajadores a esa inmensa mies de hombres y mujeres de todo el mundo para seguir anunciando la gran alegría de la presencia del Señor y de la cercanía del Reino, en especial a los más pobres. Todos, laicos, sacerdotes, seglares, religiosos, hombres y mujeres seguidores de Jesús, cada uno con su carisma y servicio propio, hemos recibido gratis la semilla del Reino y la alegría del Evangelio; y todos somos enviados a seguir esparciendo esta semilla y esta alegría a tantos y tantas que aún viven en la oscuridad y la desesperación. Todos y todas hemos de anunciar y construir un mundo nuevo de amor, justicia y paz.

Adviento: tiempo de esperanza. También tiempo de compromiso liberador. ¿Y cuál es el motor que impulsa ese compromiso activo y esperanzado? También el Evangelio de hoy nos lo muestra. El mismo sentir de Jesús: el amor compasivo, el amor que “padece con” el que sufre, el amor que siente en propia carne el dolor, la tristeza, el sin sentido de tantos y tantas. El Amor mismo de Jesús, que nos prometió que siempre estaría con nosotros hasta el fin de los tiempos.

“Señor mío Jesucristo, abre mis oídos para escuchar tu voz.”

In today's Gospel Jesus refers us to a waiting time. He already came and sowed the seed of the Kingdom. His disciples, those of then and those of now, who have received the Good News and the seed of that new World, must give free what we receive for free. Today's Christians, like those of all times, between the first coming of the Lord and the final one, we have been sent as workers to that immense harvest of men and women from all over the world to continue announcing the great joy of the presence of the Lord and the proximity of the Kingdom, especially to the poorest. All, laity, priests, laity, religious, men and women followers of Jesus, each with his own charisma and service, have received the seed of the Kingdom and the joy of the Gospel for free; and we are all sent to continue spreading this seed and this joy to so many who still live in darkness and despair. We all have to announce and build a new world of love, justice and peace.

Advent: time of hope. Also time of liberating commitment. And what is the engine that drives that active and hopeful commitment? Today's Gospel also shows us. The same feeling of Jesus: the compassionate love, the love that “suffers with” the one who suffers, the love that feels in his flesh the pain, the sadness, the meaninglessness of so many. The Love of Jesus, who promised us that he would always be with us until the end of time.
