Lo que tengas que hacer, hazlo pronto...

Jn 13, 21-33. 36-38

En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús estaba a la mesa con sus discípulos, se conmovió profundamente y declaró: "Yo les aseguro que uno de ustedes me va a entregar". Los discípulos se miraron perplejos unos a otros, porque no sabían de quién hablaba. Uno de ellos, al que Jesús tanto amaba, se hallaba reclinado a su derecha. Simón Pedro le hizo una seña y le preguntó: "¿De quién lo dice?" Entonces él, apoyándose en el pecho de Jesús, le preguntó: "Señor, ¿quién es?" Le contestó Jesús: "Aquel a quien yo le dé este trozo de pan, que voy a mojar". Mojó el pan y se lo dio a Judas, hijo de Simón el Iscariote; y tras el bocado, entró en él Satanás.

Jesús le dijo entonces a Judas: "Lo que tienes que hacer, hazlo pronto". Pero ninguno de los comensales entendió a qué se refería; algunos supusieron que, como Judas tenía a su cargo la bolsa, Jesús le había encomendado comprar lo necesario para la fiesta o dar algo a los pobres. Judas, después de tomar el bocado, salió inmediatamente. Era de noche.

Una vez que Judas se fue, Jesús dijo: "Ahora ha sido glorificado el Hijo del hombre y Dios ha sido glorificado en él. Si Dios ha sido glorificado en él, también Dios lo glorificará en sí mismo y pronto lo glorificará.

Hijitos, todavía estaré un poco con ustedes. Me buscarán, pero como les dije a los judíos, así se lo digo a ustedes ahora: 'A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir' ". Simón Pedro le dijo: "Señor, ¿a dónde vas?" Jesús le respondió: "A donde yo voy, no me puedes seguir ahora; me seguirás más tarde". Pedro replicó: "Señor, ¿por qué no puedo seguirte ahora? Yo daré mi vida por ti". Jesús le contestó: "¿Conque darás tu vida por mí? Yo te aseguro que no cantará el gallo, antes de que me hayas negado tres veces".

Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,
"Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved,
was reclining at Jesus' side.
So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.
He leaned back against Jesus' chest and said to him,
"Master, who is it?"
Jesus answered,
"It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it."
So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,
son of Simon the Iscariot.
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.
So Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly."
Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him.
Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him,
"Buy what we need for the feast,"
or to give something to the poor.
So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.

When he had left, Jesus said,
"Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself,
and he will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,
'Where I go you cannot come,' so now I say it to you."

Simon Peter said to him, "Master, where are you going?"
Jesus answered him,
"Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,
though you will follow later."
Peter said to him,
"Master, why can I not follow you now? 
I will lay down my life for you."
Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times."

Meditacion:

Hoy leemos al hermano Jesus Lozada:

Hoy martes, y mañana miércoles, se trata de abrir el oído para no perderse ninguna palabra. El profeta Isaías comienza con una exhortación a escuchar: "Escuchadme, islas; atended, pueblos lejanos". La escena que Juan describe está llena de confidencias que sólo pueden percibirse con un oído fino: la pregunta del discípulo amado, la respuesta de Jesús, la admonición a Judas, el diálogo entre Jesús y Pedro.

 Me parece que el martes santo es un día ideal para el silencio y la escucha, para caer en la cuenta de un par de verdades que sostienen nuestra vida.

Primera: existimos porque el Señor nos ha llamado en las entrañas maternas, porque ha pronunciado nuestro nombre. ¿Te sientes un don nadie, producto del azar, poco querido por tus padres o por las personas que te rodean? ¡El Señor sigue pronunciando tu nombre! ¿Te parece que tu vida es una sucesión de acontecimientos sin sentido? ¡El Señor sigue pronunciando tu nombre! ¿Crees que no merece la pena confiar en el futuro? ¡El Señor sigue pronunciando tu nombre!

Segunda: el Señor quiere hacer de nosotros una luz para que su salvación llegue a todos. ¿Te parece que tu vida no sirve para nada? ¡Tú eres luz! ¿Tienes la impresión de que nunca cuentan contigo para lo que merece la pena? ¡Tú eres luz! ¿Atraviesas un período de oscuridad, de desaliento, de prueba? ¡Tú eres luz!

No quisiera olvidar ese ejercicio de diálogo a cuatro bandas que se da entre Jesús, el discípulo amado, Simón Pedro y Judas, en una cena trascendental en la que Jesús se encuentra "profundamente conmovido".

El discípulo amado y Pedro formulan preguntas: "Señor, ¿quién es?", "Señor, ¿adónde vas?", "Señor, ¿por qué no puedo acompañarte ahora?". Quién, adónde, por qué. En sus preguntas reconocemos las nuestras. Por boca del discípulo amado y de Pedro formulamos nuestras zozobras, nuestras incertidumbres.

Judas interviene de modo no verbal. Primero toma el pan untado por Jesús y luego se va. Participa del alimento del Maestro, pero no comparte su vida, no resiste la fuerza de su mirada. Por eso "sale inmediatamente". No sabe/no puede responder al amor que recibe.

Jesús observa, escucha y responde a cada uno: al discípulo amado, a Judas y a Simón Pedro. La intimidad, la traición instantánea y la traición diferida se dan cita en una cena que resume toda una vida y que anticipa su final. Lo que sucede en esta cena es una historia de entrega y de traición. Como la vida misma.

“Oh, Rey de reyes, tu amor es tan inmenso que aceptaste una corona de espinas, un manto de sufrimiento y una túnica de muerte para salvarme. ¡Oh, feliz intercambio que nos mereció tan gran salvación! ¡A ti, Señor, el Todopoderoso que te hiciste carne, el Inmortal que moriste por los pecadores, sea toda la gloria y el honor por los siglos de los siglos!” Amen

Today, Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday, it is a question of opening your ears so as not to miss any word. The prophet Isaiah begins with an exhortation to listen: "Listen to me, islands, listen, distant peoples." The scene that John describes is full of confidences that can only be perceived with a fine ear: the question of the beloved disciple, the response of Jesus, the admonition to Judas, the dialogue between Jesus and Peter.

 It seems to me that Holy Tuesday is an ideal day for silence and listening, to realize a couple of truths that sustain our lives.

First: we exist because the Lord has called us in the maternal bowels, because he has pronounced our name. Do you feel a nobody, a product of chance, little loved by your parents or by the people around you? The Lord continues to pronounce your name! Does it seem to you that your life is a succession of meaningless events? The Lord continues to pronounce your name! Do you think that it is not worthwhile to trust in the future? The Lord continues to pronounce your name!

Second: the Lord wants to make us a light so that his salvation reaches everyone. Do you think that your life is useless? You are light! Do you have the impression that they never count on you for what is worth it? You are light! Are you going through a period of darkness, of discouragement, of trial? You are light!

I would not like to forget that exercise of four-way dialogue that takes place between Jesus, the beloved disciple, Simon Peter and Judas, in a transcendental dinner in which Jesus is "deeply moved".

The beloved disciple and Peter ask questions: "Lord, who is he?", "Lord, where are you going?", "Lord, why can not I accompany you now?" Who, where, why. In your questions we recognize ours. Through the mouth of the beloved disciple and of Peter we formulate our anxieties, our uncertainties.

Judas intervenes non-verbally. First take the bread anointed by Jesus and then leave. Participates in the food of the Master, but does not share his life, does not resist the strength of his gaze. That's why "it leaves immediately." He does not know / can not respond to the love he receives.

Jesus observes, listens and responds to each one: the beloved disciple, Judas and Simon Peter. Intimacy, instant betrayal and delayed betrayal come together in a dinner that sums up a lifetime and anticipates its end. What happens at this dinner is a story of surrender and betrayal. Like life itself.

"Oh, King of kings, your love is so immense that you accepted a crown of thorns, a mantle of suffering and a death robe to save me. Oh, happy exchange that earned us such great salvation! To you, Lord, the Almighty who made you flesh, the Immortal who died for sinners, be all glory and honor for ever and ever! "Amen
