Lc 7, 31-35

GospelLK 7:31-35
Jesus said to the crowds:
"To what shall I compare the people of this generation?
What are they like?
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another,
'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance.
We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.'
For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine,
and you said, 'He is possessed by a demon.'
The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said,
'Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard,
a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'
But wisdom is vindicated by all her children."

Meditacion:
Amen

Today we read the gospel and it leaves us with a bad taste, it seems that we have no choice, that Jesus feels a great disappointment for his people. Whatever you do is useless, there will always be an excuse for not believing, there will always be an excuse for those who interpret Jesus' actions from the guilty suspicion of the one who does not want to change. Deep down, believing in Jesus yesterday, today and always requires a first movement in the human heart: open up honestly to the Word, want to listen. God does not impose on us, he shows himself and hides at the same time, he takes care of himself and reveals himself, it is light and shadow.
That is why believing in Jesus requires an act of trust first, wanting to see the light. We believe because deep down we have taken that step, free, determined, honest that puts us on the wave of the Spirit. The problem is in those who take the step but halfway, always playing between light and shadow, the new and the old man. The problem is in those who want to swim and store clothes at the same time, cross the sea and not take risks.
Jesus comes to us, and to welcome him with a sincere heart we have to recognize our darkness, name our slavery, stop congenial with mediocrity ... if we let him He is able to illuminate all our darkness. If we do not want, we will always find an excuse to justify our unbelief.
“I praise you, heavenly Father, for your great love, your mercy, your goodness and your forgiveness. I praise you for the wonder of grace that you have shed in my life. ”Amen
