Lc 8, 1-3

En aquel tiempo, Jesús comenzó a recorrer ciudades y poblados predicando la buena nueva del Reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los Doce y algunas mujeres que habían sido libradas de espíritus malignos y curadas de varias enfermedades. Entre ellas iban María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios; Juana, mujer de Cusa, el administrador de Herodes; Susana y otras muchas, que los ayudaban con sus propios bienes.

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another,
preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.
Accompanying him were the Twelve
and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities,
Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza,
Susanna, and many others
who provided for them out of their resources.

Meditacion:

Los Doce Apóstoles y las mujeres que acompañaban a Jesús (Lucas 8, 2) no formaban precisamente el séquito real que se habría esperado para el Rey Mesías. El grupo de pescadores, publicanos y mujeres, todos pobres, socialmente marginados y de escasa formación religiosa, distaba mucho de lo que se suponía normal y aceptable para los judíos, pero era a la vez un testimonio de la insondable sabiduría y el tierno proceder de Dios. La inteligencia divina invalida las restricciones de nuestro imperfecto razonamiento y Dios, en Jesús, reconcilia a hombres y mujeres, judíos y gentiles, ricos y pobres, sanos y enfermos, justos y antisociales… a veces de una manera insospechada.

En Jesús se ha abierto el Reino de Dios en forma definitiva para todos: tanto pobres y marginados, como prominentes y poderosos. Y cuando se van derrumbando las barreras de las limitaciones humanas, va surgiendo el gozo, el deleite y el júbilo por el amor de Dios, cuyo resplandor disipa la oscuridad de nuestras limitadas expectativas. El Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros nos enseña la verdad de Jesús. Esta verdad, las realidades y los pensamientos de Dios Todopoderoso, no son cosas que podamos conocer por nuestros propios medios; es algo totalmente diferente a nuestros pensamientos; por eso necesitamos que el Espíritu Santo nos guíe hacia toda la verdad (Juan 16, 13). Pidámosle, pues, al Señor cada día la sabiduría y el conocimiento que solo vienen de Dios.

“Señor Jesús, quita de nosotros las ideas preconcebidas y prejuicios, para que aprendamos a pensar como tú piensas, amar como tú amas y preferir los caminos y los planes que tú has ordenado desde antes de todos los tiempos.” Amen

The Twelve Apostles and the women who accompanied Jesus (Luke 8, 2) did not precisely form the royal entourage that would have been expected for King Messiah. The group of fishermen, publicans and women, all poor, socially marginalized and poorly educated, were far from what was supposed to be normal and acceptable to the Jews, but it was both a testimony of the unfathomable wisdom and tenderness to proceed from God. Divine intelligence invalidates the restrictions of our imperfect reasoning and God, in Jesus, reconciles men and women, Jews and Gentiles, rich and poor, healthy and sick, righteous and antisocial ... sometimes in an unsuspected way.

In Jesus the Kingdom of God has been opened definitively for all: both poor and marginalized, as prominent and powerful. And when the barriers of human limitations are collapsing, joy, delight and joy for the love of God arise, whose radiance dissipates the darkness of our limited expectations. The Holy Spirit that dwells in us teaches us the truth of Jesus. This truth, the realities and thoughts of Almighty God, are not things we can know by our own means; it is something totally different from our thoughts; That is why we need the Holy Spirit to lead us to the whole truth (John 16:13). Let us therefore ask the Lord every day for wisdom and knowledge that only come from God.

"Lord Jesus, take away from us the preconceived ideas and prejudices, so that we learn to think as you think, love as you love and prefer the ways and plans that you have ordered since before all times." Amen
