Mt 5, 20-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Les aseguro que si su justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, ciertamente no entrarán ustedes en el Reino de los cielos.

Han oído que se dijo a los antiguos: No matarás y el que mate será llevado ante el tribunal. Pero yo les digo: Todo el que se enoje con su hermano, será llevado también ante el tribunal; el que insulte a su hermano, será llevado ante el tribunal supremo, y el que lo desprecie, será llevado al fuego del lugar de castigo.

Por lo tanto, si cuando vas a poner tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene alguna queja contra ti, deja tu ofrenda junto al altar y ve primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y vuelve luego a presentar tu ofrenda.

Arréglate pronto con tu adversario, mientras vas con él por el camino; no sea que te entregue al juez, el juez al policía y te metan a la cárcel. Te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último centavo”.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you,
unless your righteousness surpasses that
of the scribes and Pharisees,
you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.

“You have heard that it was said to your ancestors,
You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.
But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother
will be liable to judgment,
and whoever says to his brother, Raqa,
will be answerable to the Sanhedrin,
and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ will be liable to fiery Gehenna.
Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar,
and there recall that your brother
has anything against you,
leave your gift there at the altar,
go first and be reconciled with your brother,
and then come and offer your gift.
Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court.
Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge,
and the judge will hand you over to the guard,
and you will be thrown into prison.
Amen, I say to you,
you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”

Meditacion:

Sin duda el Señor sorprendió a sus oyentes al interpretar la ley de Moisés de esta forma. Para él, la cólera, los insultos y las rencillas no tienen cabida en el corazón del creyente. ¿Por qué daba tanta importancia a las relaciones humanas? Porque somos hijos del mismo Padre y hermanos unos de otros, de manera que estamos tan firmemente vinculados entre todos que cualquier quiebre de la unidad produce graves daños en el Cuerpo de Cristo.

Los cristianos hemos de preservar y fortalecer la unidad del Cuerpo. Este desafío se extiende a todas las relaciones personales; por ejemplo, ¿cómo te llevas tú con tus familiares y parientes, con tus vecinos y compañeros de trabajo, sean o no católicos o cristianos? ¿Te muestras amable con ellos? ¿Los tratas con respeto y sin hacer diferencias? ¿Te preocupas por los necesitados, especialmente los pobres y los solitarios?

En el Cuerpo de Cristo, todos estamos tan unidos que cualquier pecado que se cometa tiene consecuencias no solo para el causante, sino para todos. ¡Nuestra unidad es una parte fundamental de la vida en Cristo! En efecto, solo podemos ser partícipes de la vida de la Santísima Trinidad en la medida en que estemos firmemente unidos los unos a los otros. Este es el plan que el Padre tiene para nosotros. Cuando pecamos contra algún hermano o contra Dios, nos separamos del Cuerpo y esto es precisamente lo que desea Satanás. Por eso el perdón y la reconciliación son tan importantes.

¡Mantengamos la unidad cristiana a toda costa! Así encontraremos alegría y paz. Sucede frecuentemente que la arrogancia y la terquedad nos impiden actuar con amor y paciencia para que una amistad no se destruya. En efecto, debemos aprender a confiar en que Dios nos ayudará a ver las situaciones con nuevos ojos, especialmente las relaciones personales. Pidámosle al Señor que nos muestre qué podemos hacer para ser instrumentos de reconciliación y no de división. Incluso, si la reconciliación resulta imposible de lograr, al menos podemos renunciar al rencor y pedirle al Señor que nos ayude a perdonar de verdad a quien nos haya herido o perjudicado.

“Espíritu Santo, Señor mío, infunde en mí el deseo de proteger la unidad con mis hermanos. Une a todos los cristianos en una sola familia y crea lazos de amor que jamás se rompan.”

Why did he give so much importance to human relationships? Because we are children of the same Father and brothers of one another, so that we are so firmly linked to all that any break in unity causes serious damage to the Body of Christ.

Christians are to preserve and strengthen the unity of the Body. This challenge extends to all personal relationships; For example, how do you get along with your relatives and relatives, with your neighbors and co-workers, whether or not they are Catholics or Christians? Are you kind to them? Do you treat them with respect and without making differences? Do you care about the needy, especially the poor and lonely?

In the Body of Christ, we are all so united that any sin that is committed has consequences not only for the causer, but for all. Our unity is a fundamental part of life in Christ! In fact, we can only be participants in the life of the Holy Trinity to the extent that we are firmly united to each other. This is the plan that the Father has for us. When we sin against a brother or against God, we separate ourselves from the Body and this is precisely what Satan desires. That is why forgiveness and reconciliation are so important.

Let's maintain Christian unity at all costs! Thus we will find joy and peace. It often happens that arrogance and stubbornness prevent us from acting with love and patience so that a friendship is not destroyed. Indeed, we must learn to trust that God will help us see situations with new eyes, especially personal relationships. Let us ask the Lord to show us what we can do to be instruments of reconciliation and not division. Even if reconciliation is impossible to achieve, we can at least give up resentment and ask the Lord to help us truly forgive those who have hurt or harmed us.
