Jn 19, 25-34

GospelJN 19:25-34
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother
and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,
and Mary of Magdala.
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved,
he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”
Then he said to the disciple,
“Behold, your mother.”
And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
After this, aware that everything was now finished,
in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
Jesus said, “I thirst.”
There was a vessel filled with common wine.
So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop
and put it up to his mouth.
When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,
“It is finished.”
And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.
and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,

Now since it was preparation day,
in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath,
for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,
the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken
and they be taken down.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs,
but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,
and immediately Blood and water flowed out.

Meditacion:

Pope Francis when the feast of Mary, Mother of the Church, that we celebrate today. In the papal decree, he stated that he wanted "to increase the maternal sense of the Church." In celebrating the feast, the Pope explained that tenderness is a hallmark of Mary and of all motherhood, including that of the Church.
We know that Jesus gave Mary, who was at the foot of the cross, to Mary to take care of her. But he did the same with him, and with all of us, when he gave us Mary so that she could take care of us. Mary shows us the same tenderness that she showed when she wrapped the newborn Jesus in diapers and laid him in the manger. She instructs us as she did with the servants at the wedding in Cana to do whatever Jesus asks us to do. He encourages and prays with us, just as he did with the disciples as they awaited the coming of the Holy Spirit. She welcomes each one of us because she loves us as if we were her own children.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how Mary cares for you. Ask her to show you her love and tenderness. Her maternal care is not only for the Church in general but for you personally. Accept her at your house like Juan did, allow her to take care of you and look at your mother.
As you know, Mary leads us to Jesus, so if you go to her with any difficulty you have she will help you or tell her Son to do it.
"Blessed Virgin Mary, thank you for your love and care."
