Mt 22, 34-40

En aquel tiempo, habiéndose enterado los fariseos de que Jesús había dejado callados a los saduceos, se acercaron a él. Uno de ellos, que era doctor de la ley, le preguntó para ponerlo a prueba: “Maestro, ¿cuál es el mandamiento más grande de la ley?”

Jesús le respondió: “Amarás al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu mente. Este es el más grande y el primero de los mandamientos. Y el segundo es semejante a éste: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. En estos dos mandamientos se fundan toda la ley y los profetas”.

MT 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law, tested him by asking,
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”
He said to him,
“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

Meditacion:

Los compositores de canciones han afirmado por mucho tiempo que lo que el mundo necesita es amor, pero ese noble sentimiento es un poco vago si se refiere al verdadero amor o a lo que significa amar a alguien. Por el contrario, el Señor Jesús contaba con más de mil años de revelación divina cuando les dijo a los fariseos que el mandamiento más importante es amar a Dios y al prójimo. Los mandamientos por sí mismos explican qué es el amor y cómo se ve.

Entonces, ¿qué significa amar? Observa cómo ama Dios. Él liberó a los israelitas de la esclavitud en Egipto, y nos libra a cada uno de nosotros de las garras de los enemigos, como son el dolor de una relación fracasada o abusiva, el maltrato físico o emocional, el rencor o el resentimiento.

Pero, ¿cómo podemos amar a Dios? Podemos hacerlo proclamando que solo él, y no otras formas de escape como el alcohol, las drogas o la pornografía, tiene poder suficiente para liberarnos y restaurarnos. Lo amamos porque estamos convencidos de que está tan dispuesto a limpiarnos del pecado o la indiferencia como lo estuvo a sacar a su pueblo escogido de Egipto.

Así pues, permite que el conocimiento de este amor llene tu corazón, y te mueva a demostrarle cuánto lo amas. Deja a un lado el teléfono, la computadora, la lavadora o las cuentas por pagar para elevar el corazón, rezar y darle gracias por todas las ocasiones en que Dios te ha demostrado su amor. Mientras lo alabas por su bondad, abre el corazón para recibir todavía más de su amor.

Y, ¿cómo podemos amar al prójimo? Mientras Dios nos llena de su amor, este fluirá de nosotros hacia los demás; ensanchará tu corazón y te hará capaz de amar mejor y con más humildad.

Más que simplemente realizar actos de servicio, amas a tu prójimo cuando eres considerado y respetuoso con él; lo amas cuando refrenas las palabras airadas o pensamientos ofensivos o de lujuria. Verás a las personas tal como Dios los ve, con el mismo amor que te prodiga a ti.

Sí, el mundo necesita amor, y Dios nos ha mostrado cómo es su amor. Así que recíbelo tanto cuanto puedas y ofrécelo todavía más.

Songwriters have long claimed that what the world needs is love, but that noble sentiment is a bit vague if it refers to true love or what it means to love someone. On the contrary, the Lord Jesus had more than a thousand years of divine revelation when He told the Pharisees that the most important commandment is to love God and your neighbor. The commandments by themselves explain what love is and what it looks like.

So what does it mean to love? See how God loves. He freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, and he frees each of us from the clutches of enemies, such as the pain of a failed or abusive relationship, physical or emotional abuse, resentment or resentment.

But how can we love God? We can do so by proclaiming that only he, and not other forms of escape such as alcohol, drugs, or pornography, has enough power to free and restore us. We love him because we are convinced that he is as willing to cleanse us from sin or indifference as he was to lead his chosen people out of Egypt.

So, allow the knowledge of this love to fill your heart, and move you to show how much you love it. Put aside your phone, computer, washing machine, or bills to lift your heart, pray, and give thanks for all the times God has shown you his love. As you praise him for his goodness, open your heart to receive even more of his love.

And how can we love our neighbor? As God fills us with his love, it will flow from us to others; It will broaden your heart and make you capable of loving better and with more humility.

More than just performing acts of service, you love your neighbor when you are considerate and respectful of him; you love him when you restrain angry words or offensive or lustful thoughts. You will see people as God sees them, with the same love that he lavishes on you.

Yes, the world needs love, and God has shown us what his love is like. So receive it as much as you can and offer it even more.
