En aquel tiempo, designó el Señor a otros setenta y dos discípulos y los mandó por delante, de dos en dos, a todos los pueblos y lugares a donde pensaba ir, y les dijo: “La cosecha es mucha y los trabajadores pocos. Rueguen, por lo tanto, al dueño de la mies que envíe trabajadores a sus campos. Pónganse en camino; los envío como corderos en medio de lobos. No lleven ni dinero, ni morral, ni sandalias y no se detengan a saludar a nadie por el camino. Cuando entren en una casa, digan: ‘Que la paz reine en esta casa’. Y si allí hay gente amante de la paz, el deseo de paz de ustedes se cumplirá; si no, no se cumplirá. Quédense en esa casa. Coman y beban de lo que tengan, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su salario. No anden de casa en casa. En cualquier ciudad donde entren y los reciban, coman lo que les den. Curen a los enfermos que haya y díganles: ‘Ya se acerca a ustedes el Reino de Dios’.
Pero si entran en una ciudad y no los reciben, salgan por las calles y digan: ‘Hasta el polvo de esta ciudad que se nos ha pegado a los pies nos lo sacudimos, en señal de protesta contra ustedes. De todos modos, sepan que el Reino de Dios está cerca’. Yo les digo que en el día del juicio, Sodoma será tratada con menos rigor que esa ciudad”.

Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples
whom he sent ahead of him in pairs
to every town and place he intended to visit.
He said to them,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.
Go on your way;
behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals;
and greet no one along the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say,
‘Peace to this household.’
If a peaceful person lives there,
your peace will rest on him;
but if not, it will return to you.
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you,
for the laborer deserves his payment.
Do not move about from one house to another.
Whatever town you enter and they welcome you,
eat what is set before you,
cure the sick in it and say to them,
‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’
Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you,
go out into the streets and say,
‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet,
even that we shake off against you.’
Yet know this: the Kingdom of God is at hand.
I tell you,
it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day
than for that town.”

Meditacion:
¿Has escuchado alguna vez la historia de Arquímides, el matemático griego? Se emocionó tanto con un descubrimiento científico que hizo mientras se bañaba que salió corriendo desnudo por la calle gritando “¡Eureka!” (que en griego significa “¡lo descubrí!”). Arquímides estaba tan emocionado que corrió afuera para contar la buena noticia, sin pensar ni por un momento en lo que la gente pensaría de él.
Muchos de nosotros podemos haber tenido varios momentos “eureka”, ese emocionante instante en que fuimos impactados por la profundidad y la plenitud del amor de Dios. La alegría y la emoción que sentimos fueron tan intensas que queríamos compartirlas con todo el mundo. Pero conforme el tiempo pasa, las demandas de la vida cotidiana provocan que la mente haga a un lado el momento y la emoción.
La lectura del Evangelio de hoy nos ofrece la oportunidad perfecta no solo para redescubrir ese “momento eureka” sino también para que la emoción nos envíe como embajadores de Dios. La noticia es tan buena, y el amor de Dios es tan poderoso, que tú simplemente no puedes guardártelo: ¡Dios ha cumplido su promesa de salvación! Esto es mucho más emocionante que el descubrimiento matemático de Arquímides.
El Señor Jesús desea que te apresures a contar la buena nueva, sin preocuparte por llevar equipaje, a todo aquel que quiera escucharla, no quiere que te preocupes por lo que vas a comer ni por el dinero ni siquiera por lo que la gente piense de ti. El Señor te cuidará si vas y proclamas su Evangelio. Tampoco hay tiempo para conversaciones ociosas o para quedarse mucho tiempo en un lugar donde las personas no están escuchando. Cristo quiere que vayas y difundas la noticia tan rápido y tan lejos como puedas.
En tu oración de hoy, Dios desea ayudarte a descubrir más profundamente la alegría de tu salvación; quiere avivar el fuego en tu corazón y hacerlo arder para que brille más. Dios tiene grandes cosas reservadas para su pueblo, y te ha elegido a ti para que se las cuentes a otros.
“Gracias, Señor, por llenarme de tanto amor y misericordia. Concédeme tu gracia para que yo esté dispuesto a proclamar el Evangelio. Aquí estoy, Señor; ¡envíame a mí!” Amen

Have you ever heard the story of Archimedes, the Greek mathematician? He was so excited by a scientific discovery he made while bathing that he ran naked down the street yelling "Eureka!" (which in Greek means "I discovered it!"). Archimedes was so excited that he ran outside to tell the good news, not for a moment thinking about what people would think of him.
Many of us may have had several “eureka” moments, that exciting moment when we were struck by the depth and fullness of God's love. The joy and excitement we felt were so intense that we wanted to share them with everyone. But as time passes, the demands of everyday life cause the mind to put the moment and emotion aside.
Today's Gospel reading offers us the perfect opportunity not only to rediscover that “eureka moment” but also for emotion to send us as ambassadors for God. The news is so good, and God's love is so powerful, that you simply cannot keep it to yourself: God has kept His promise of salvation! This is much more exciting than Archimedes' mathematical discovery.
The Lord Jesus wants you to rush to tell the good news, without worrying about carrying luggage, to anyone who wants to hear it, he does not want you to worry about what you are going to eat or about money or even about what people think of you. The Lord will take care of you if you go and proclaim his Gospel. There is also no time for idle conversations or to linger in a place where people are not listening. Christ wants you to go and spread the news as quickly and as far as you can.
In your prayer today, God wants to help you discover more deeply the joy of your salvation; He wants to fan the fire in your heart and make it burn so that it shines brighter. God has great things in store for his people, and he has chosen you to tell others.
Thank you, Lord, for filling me with so much love and mercy. Grant me your grace so that I am willing to proclaim the Gospel. Here I am, Lord; send to me!" Amen
