Mt 18, 1-5. 10

En cierta ocasión, los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le preguntaron: “¿Quién es más grande en el Reino de los cielos?”

Jesús llamó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos y les dijo: “Yo les aseguro a ustedes que si no cambian y no se hacen como los niños, no entrarán en el Reino de los cielos. Así pues, quien se haga pequeño como este niño, ése es el más grande en el Reino de los cielos. Y el que reciba a un niño como éste en mi nombre, me recibe a mí.

Cuidado con despreciar a uno de estos pequeños, pues yo les digo que sus ángeles, en el cielo, ven continuamente el rostro de mi Padre, que está en el cielo’’.

The disciples approached Jesus and said,
“Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”
He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said,
“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,
you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Whoever humbles himself like this child
is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones,
for I say to you that their angels in heaven
always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”

Meditacion:

Si alguna vez viste la clásica película de Navidad ¡Qué bello es vivir!, seguramente recordarás a Clarence, el ángel guardián. Cuando la desesperación lleva al personaje principal, Jorge Bailey, a contemplar el suicidio, Clarence interviene para salvarle la vida.

Podemos encontrar la moraleja general de la película en el hecho de que refleja dos verdades básicas de la fe: los ángeles guardianes realmente existen y tienen una misión importantísima que cumplir en nuestra vida. Muchas personas pueden contar relatos maravillosos y milagrosos sobre cómo su ángel guardián acudió en su auxilio.

Estos protectores y guías son tu compañía constante: de principio a fin, tu vida está “rodeada de su custodia y de su intercesión” (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, 336). Y esa es la razón por la cual la Iglesia aparta este día para reconocerlos y darles honra.

San Bernardo de Claraval (1090–1153) llamaba a los ángeles guardianes de una manera que parece especialmente apropiada, les decía los “guardaespaldas”. Bernardo escribió: “Solamente necesitamos seguirlos, permanecer cerca de ellos y habitaremos bajo el amparo del Dios Altísimo. Así que cuando sientas que se acerca una grave tentación o te embarga una aflicción tremenda, invoca a tu protector, a tu líder, al que te ayuda en cualquier situación” (Sermones sobre el Salmo 91, Sermón 12).

Ciertamente debes acudir a tu ángel guardián cuando te encuentres en un peligro físico inminente. Pero el consejo de San Bernardo también es útil en situaciones menos graves. Por ejemplo, cuando sientes la tentación de perder la paciencia, o te sientes inclinado a hablar de mal modo a alguien de tu familia o a un compañero de trabajo que te pone nervioso. Tu ángel guardián está presto a escuchar tu llamado y ayudarte a actuar con bondad. Este ayudante, dice San Bernardo, “presentará tus plegarias a Dios en el cielo y regresará cargado de gracias para ti.”

¡El amor de Dios es tan grande, que te provee un ayudante así de fiel! En esta fiesta de los Ángeles Custodios, agradece a tu Padre, y a tu ángel guardián, por su cuidado celestial.

“Padre y Dios mío, gracias por cuidarme. Ayúdame a ser más consciente de la presencia constante de mi ángel custodio.”

If you ever saw the classic Christmas movie How Beautiful It is to Live !, you will surely remember Clarence, the guardian angel. When desperation drives the main character, Jorge Bailey, to contemplate suicide, Clarence steps in to save his life.

We can find the general moral of the film in the fact that it reflects two basic truths of the faith: guardian angels really exist and they have a very important mission to fulfill in our lives. Many people can tell wonderful and miraculous stories about how their guardian angel came to their aid.

These protectors and guides are your constant companions: from beginning to end, your life is "surrounded by his custody and his intercession" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 336). And that is why the Church sets aside this day to recognize and honor them.

Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (1090–1153) called the guardian angels in a way that seems especially appropriate, he called them the “bodyguards”. Bernardo wrote: “We only need to follow them, stay close to them and we will dwell under the protection of the Most High God. So when you feel a great temptation approaching or a tremendous affliction seizes you, invoke your protector, your leader, the one who helps you in any situation ”(Sermons on Psalm 91, Sermon 12).

You should certainly turn to your guardian angel when you find yourself in imminent physical danger. But the advice of Saint Bernard is also useful in less serious situations. For example, when you are tempted to lose your temper, or you are inclined to speak in a bad way to someone in your family or a coworker that makes you nervous. Your guardian angel is ready to hear your call and help you act kindly. This helper, says Saint Bernard, "will present your prayers to God in heaven and will return loaded with graces for you."

God's love is so great that He provides you with such a faithful helper! On this feast of the Guardian Angels, thank your Father, and your guardian angel, for their heavenly care.

“Father and my God, thank you for taking care of me. Help me to be more aware of the constant presence of my guardian angel. "
