En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los sumos sacerdotes y a los ancianos del pueblo esta parábola: “Había una vez un propietario que plantó un viñedo, lo rodeó con una cerca, cavó un lagar en él, construyó una torre para el vigilante y luego la alquiló a unos viñadores y se fue de viaje.
Llegado el tiempo de la vendimia, envió a sus criados para pedir su parte de los frutos a los viñadores; pero éstos se apoderaron de los criados, golpearon a uno, mataron a otro, y a otro más lo apedrearon. Envió de nuevo a otros criados, en mayor número que los primeros, y los trataron del mismo modo.
Por último, les mandó a su propio hijo, pensando: ‘A mi hijo lo respetarán’. Pero cuando los viñadores lo vieron, se dijeron unos a otros: ‘Éste es el heredero. Vamos a matarlo y nos quedaremos con su herencia’. Le echaron mano, lo sacaron del viñedo y lo mataron.
Ahora díganme: Cuando vuelva el dueño del viñedo, ¿qué hará con esos viñadores?” Ellos le respondieron: “Dará muerte terrible a esos desalmados y arrendará el viñedo a otros viñadores, que le entreguen los frutos a su tiempo”.
Entonces Jesús les dijo: “¿No han leído nunca en la Escritura: La piedra que desecharon los constructores, es ahora la piedra angular. Esto es obra del Señor y es un prodigio admirable?
Por esta razón les digo que les será quitado a ustedes el Reino de Dios y se le dará a un pueblo que produzca sus frutos”.
Al oír estas palabras, los sumos sacerdotes y los fariseos comprendieron que Jesús las decía por ellos y quisieron aprehenderlo, pero tuvieron miedo a la multitud, pues era tenido por un profeta.

Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people:
“Hear another parable.
There was a landowner who planted a vineyard,
put a hedge around it,
dug a wine press in it, and built a tower.
Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey.
When vintage time drew near,
he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce.
But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat,
another they killed, and a third they stoned.
Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones,
but they treated them in the same way.
Finally, he sent his son to them,
thinking, ‘They will respect my son.’
But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another,
‘This is the heir.
Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.’
They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?”
They answered him,
"He will put those wretched men to a wretched death
and lease his vineyard to other tenants
who will give him the produce at the proper times.”
Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures:
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
by the Lord has this been done,
and it is wonderful in our eyes?
Therefore, I say to you,
the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you
and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables,
they knew that he was speaking about them.
And although they were attempting to arrest him,
they feared the crowds, for they regarded him as a prophet.

Meditacion:
El Evangelio nos presenta la parábola de la viña arrendada a los labradores. La viña representa en primer lugar al pueblo de Israel. Dios la plantó y la dejó en las mejores condiciones para que diera fruto y la confió a los cuidados de los labradores. Estos se negaron a ofrecerle el fruto que producía, despreciaron además a sus enviados e incluso al mismo hijo. Merecían ser despojados de los dones recibidos, pero Dios siempre fiel, aunque nosotros seamos infieles, les concedió una nueva oportunidad de conversión.
Ahora la comunidad cristiana es la heredera del antiguo pueblo de Israel que no supo dar los frutos que se esperaba de él. Misión y responsabilidad grande: producir los verdaderos frutos del Reino viviendo el amor, la justicia, la fraternidad… y comunicarlos por todas partes. Este es el vino bueno de la viña del Señor que la Iglesia debe ofrecer a todos los hombres del mundo. Y dentro de la comunidad cristiana cada bautizado es un sarmiento mimado y cuidado de esa viña del Señor que tiene la responsabilidad de dar “buen vino” para que los hombres se salven. Los dones y las gracias recibidas “gratis” no son solo para uno mismo sino para compartirlos y así más personas conozcan y glorifiquen y alaben a Dios.
Aquellos labradores mataron a los criados, y al hijo lo echaron fuera de la viña y lo mataron. Aún hoy seguimos matando al hijo: cada siete segundos muere un niño de hambre, miles de personas caen víctimas de las guerras o a causa de la marginación, de las persecuciones políticas, religiosas, a causa de la injusticia social y económica reinantes; los echamos fuera de la viña y no les permitimos beber el buen vino de la viña del Señor. A veces nos creemos dueños de la viña y de sus frutos, y no nos parece bien tener que compartir con otros.
El Papa Francisco comenta esta parábola así: “La misericordia es el vino nuevo de la viña del Señor… La gran novedad del cristianismo: un Dios que, a pesar de estar desilusionado por nuestros pecados, no olvida su palabra, y sobre todo no se venga. ¡Dios no se venga! Dios ama y nos espera para abrazarnos… Cada cristiano tiene la misión de ser la viña del Señor en todos los ambientes incluso en los más alejados, y llevar allí el vino nuevo de la misericordia del Señor”.

This is the good wine from the Lord's vineyard that the Church must offer to all the men of the world. And within the Christian community, each baptized person is a pampered and cared for vine of the Lord that has the responsibility of giving "good wine" so that men may be saved. The gifts and graces received "free" are not only for oneself but to share them so that more people know and glorify and praise God.
Those husbandmen killed the servants, and they threw the son out of the vineyard and killed him. Even today we continue to kill the child: every seven seconds a child dies of hunger, thousands of people fall victim to wars or because of marginalization, political and religious persecution, because of the prevailing social and economic injustice; We drive them out of the vineyard and do not allow them to drink the good wine of the Lord's vineyard. Sometimes we believe we are the owners of the vineyard and its fruits, and we don't feel like having to share with others.
Pope Francis comments on this parable like this: “Mercy is the new wine from the Lord's vineyard… The great novelty of Christianity: a God who, despite being disappointed by our sins, does not forget his word, and above all does not come on. God don't take revenge! God loves and awaits us to embrace us… Each Christian has the mission of being the Lord's vineyard in all environments, even the most remote ones, and to bring there the new wine of the Lord's mercy ”.
