Mt 6, 1-6. 16-18
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Tengan cuidado de no practicar sus obras de piedad delante de los hombres para que los vean. De lo contrario, no tendrán recompensa con su Padre celestial.
Por lo tanto, cuando des limosna, no lo anuncies con trompeta, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y por las calles, para que los alaben los hombres. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando des limosna, que no sepa tu mano izquierda lo que hace la derecha, para que tu limosna quede en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará.
Cuando ustedes hagan oración, no sean como los hipócritas, a quienes les gusta orar de pie en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las plazas, para que los vea la gente. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando vayas a orar, entra en tu cuarto, cierra la puerta y ora ante tu Padre, que está allí, en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará.
Cuando ustedes ayunen, no pongan cara triste, como esos hipócritas que descuidan la apariencia de su rostro, para que la gente note que están ayunando. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando ayunes, perfúmate la cabeza y lávate la cara, para que no sepa la gente que estás ayunando, sino tu Padre, que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará''.

And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
"When you pray,

who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners

But when you pray, go to your inner room,
close the door, and pray to your Father in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

do not look gloomy like the hypocrites.
They neglect their appearance,
so that they may appear to others to be fasting.

But when you fast,
anoint your head and wash your face,
so that you may not appear to be fasting,
except to your Father who is hidden.
And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you."

Meditacion:
Hoy es miercoles de cenizas, comienzo del tiempo de cuaresma. Y curiosamente, tambien es el Dia de San Valentin, ese santo catolico que desafiaba los decretos romanos y casaba secretamente.
Por un lado, el miercoles de cenizas nos recuerda la levedad de nuestras vidas "del polvo viene y al polvo volveras" dice el Genesis 3, 19. Por el otro lado, San Valentin nos recuerda el amor por sobre otra cualquier cosa.
Y el amor viene de Dios.
El evangelio nos habla de llevar a cabo nuestras practicas espirituales de forma modesta y sin andar declarandolo por todas partes; yo siempre he dicho que una persona que ora "se le nota" la oracion en su actitud.
La cuaresma nos invita a un repaso general de nuestra forma de vivir, a reorganizarnos en relación con Dios (oración), con los hermanos (limosna), con nosotros mismos (ayuno), a reavivar nuestra sensibilidad y nuestra libertad, dominando los propios caprichos o inclinaciones meramente instintivas.
En torno a esas tres dimensiones de la vida, San Antonio M. Claret redactó en unos ejercicios espirituales este hermoso propósito: “Tendré para con Dios corazón de hijo, para con el prójimo corazón de madre, y para conmigo mismo corazón de juez”
Celebremos hoy el amor no solo a nuestras parejas sino a todo el que conozcamos; hagamos algo diferente que demuestre nuestro amor por los demas y nuestro real espiritu de humildad.
Que esta cuaresma no sea "una cuaresma mas" sino que la vivamos como un real camino de renovación y reencarnación.. sigamos elevandonos hacia Dios. Amen
Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season. And interestingly, it is also Valentine's Day, that Catholic saint who defied Roman decrees and married secretly.
On the one hand, on Ash Wednesday it reminds us of the lightness of our lives "from the dust it comes and to the dust you will return" says Genesis 3, 19. On the other hand, St. Valentine reminds us of love over something else.
And love comes from God.
The gospel tells us to carry out our spiritual practices in a modest way and without going around declaring it everywhere; I have always said that a person who prays "shows" the prayer in his attitude.
Lent invites us to a general review of our way of living, to reorganize ourselves in relation to God (prayer), with our brothers (alms), with ourselves (fasting), to rekindle our sensitivity and our freedom, dominating our own whims or merely instinctive inclinations.
Around these three dimensions of life, St. Anthony M. Claret wrote in a spiritual exercises this beautiful purpose: "I will have for God the heart of a son, for my neighbor's heart as a mother, and for myself the heart of a judge"
Let's celebrate today the love not only to our couples but to everyone we know; Let us do something different that demonstrates our love for others and our real spirit of humility.
That this Lent is not "one more Lent" but that we live it as a real path of renewal and reincarnation. Let us continue to rise towards God. Amen
