Carga tu cruz...

Lc 9, 22-25

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Es necesario que el Hijo del hombre sufra mucho, que sea rechazado por los ancianos, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, que sea entregado a la muerte y que resucite al tercer día".

Luego, dirigiéndose a la multitud, les dijo: "Si alguno quiere acompañarme, que no se busque a sí mismo, que tome su cruz de cada día y me siga. 

Pues el que quiera conservar para sí mismo su vida, la perderá; pero el que la pierda por mi causa, ése la encontrará. En efecto, ¿de qué le sirve al hombre ganar todo el mundo, si se pierde a sí mismo o se destruye?''

GospelLK 9:22-25

Jesus said to his disciples:
"The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised."

Then he said to all,
"If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?"

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es dificil de comprender si no se leen las dos lecturas y el salmo.

En la primera lectura del Libro del Deuteronomio, se nos presentan las dos opciones: vivir con calma en la presencia de Dios o elegir vivir equivocado; si esa es la decision, la amenaza es terrible "Pero si tu corazón se resiste y no obedeces, si te dejas arrastrar y te postras para dar culto a dioses extranjeros, yo te anuncio hoy que perecerás sin remedio y que, pasado el Jordán para entrar a poseer la tierra, no vivirás muchos años en ella."

Esta cita me recuerda la escena de la primera pelicula "Matrix" cuando al protagonista le ofrecian la pildora azul o la roja.. con una, volvia a su vida de ilusion y mentiras; con la otra, sufriria los dolores de vivir "la vida real".

La pelicula fue un exito y aun ahora sigue siendo muy actual. Y es que con cada adelanto tecnologico, con cada nueva diversion puesta a nuestro servicio, internamente tenemos esa sensacion de estar perdiendo contacto con la "realidad real" y sumergiendonos cada vez mas en una "realidad personal" disenada de alguna manera solo para nosotros.

Jesus se adelanto 2000 anos a esta posibilidad y nos dice simplemente ""Si alguno quiere acompañarme, que no se busque a sí mismo, que tome su cruz de cada día y me siga". Hay algo mas sencillo, mas minimo que esta expresion? 

Jesus no nos pide que hagamos enormes cosas solo que cada dia tomes tu cruz y lo sigas.  Recuerdo un retiro anos atras donde a muchas personas esta cita le parecia que era algo doloroso, pero realmente cuando se tiene a Jesus en el corazon, uno aprecia y adora "su cruz" que deja de ser algo negativo para pasar a ser un motivo de alegria.

Sabian que entre las 10 profesiones que generan mayor alegria en una persona y sentirse plena, ser sacerdote es la segunda? Y es porque consagrando tu vida a salvar las vidas de los demas es llenar de una manera total y definitiva el sentido de la vida y porque vinimos a este mundo.

No veamos la cruz como motivo de dolor, Jesus ya pago esa cuenta, veamos la cruz como motivo de alegría, de vida y de amor a los demás. Amen

The gospel of today is difficult to understand if the two readings and the psalm are not read.

This quote reminds me of the scene of the first movie "Matrix" when the protagonist was offered the blue or red pill .. with one, he returned to his life of illusion and lies; with the other, he would suffer the pains of living "real life".

The movie was a success and even now it's still very current. And with every technological breakthrough, with each new diversion placed at our service, internally we have that feeling of losing contact with "real reality" and immersing ourselves more and more in a "personal reality" designed in some way just for us.

Jesus went ahead 2000 years ago to this possibility and simply says, "If anyone wants to accompany me, do not look for himself, take his cross every day and follow me." Is there something simpler, more minimal than this expression?

Jesus does not ask us to do huge things just so that each day you take your cross and follow it. I remember a retreat years ago where to many people this appointment seemed painful, but really when you have Jesus in your heart, you appreciate and adore "your cross" that stops being something negative to become a reason for joy.

Did you know that among the 10 professions that generate the greatest joy in a person and feel full, being a priest is the second? And it is because consecrating your life to save the lives of others is to fill in a total and definitive way the meaning of life and why we came to this world.

Let's not see the cross as a reason for pain, Jesus already paid that bill, let's see the cross as a reason for joy, life and love for others. Amen
