Mi testimonio no es verdadero

Jn 5, 31-47

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: "Si yo diera testimonio de mí, mi testimonio no tendría valor; otro es el que da testimonio de mí y yo bien sé que ese testimonio que da de mí, es válido.

Ustedes enviaron mensajeros a Juan el Bautista y él dio testimonio de la verdad. No es que yo quiera apoyarme en el testimonio de un hombre. Si digo esto, es para que ustedes se salven. Juan era la lámpara que ardía y brillaba, y ustedes quisieron alegrarse un instante con su luz. Pero yo tengo un testimonio mejor que el de Juan: las obras que el Padre me ha concedido realizar y que son las que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí y me acreditan como enviado del Padre.

El Padre, que me envió, ha dado testimonio de mí. Ustedes nunca han escuchado su voz ni han visto su rostro, y su palabra no habita en ustedes, porque no le creen al que él ha enviado.

Ustedes estudian las Escrituras pensando encontrar en ellas vida eterna; pues bien, ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí. ¡Y ustedes no quieren venir a mí para tener vida! Yo no busco la gloria que viene de los hombres; es que los conozco y sé que el amor de Dios no está en ellos. Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre y ustedes no me han recibido. Si otro viniera en nombre propio, a ése sí lo recibirían. ¿Cómo va a ser posible que crean ustedes, que aspiran a recibir gloria los unos de los otros y no buscan la gloria que sólo viene de Dios?

No piensen que yo los voy a acusar ante el Padre; ya hay alguien que los acusa: Moisés, en quien ustedes tienen su esperanza. Si creyeran en Moisés, me creerían a mí, porque él escribió acerca de mí. Pero, si no dan fe a sus escritos, ¿cómo darán fe a mis palabras?''

Jesus said to the Jews: 
"If I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is not true.
But there is another who testifies on my behalf,
and I know that the testimony he gives on my behalf is true.
You sent emissaries to John, and he testified to the truth.
I do not accept human testimony,
but I say this so that you may be saved.
He was a burning and shining lamp,
and for a while you were content to rejoice in his light.
But I have testimony greater than John's.
The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf
that the Father has sent me.
Moreover, the Father who sent me has testified on my behalf.
But you have never heard his voice nor seen his form,
and you do not have his word remaining in you,
because you do not believe in the one whom he has sent.
You search the Scriptures,
because you think you have eternal life through them;
even they testify on my behalf.
But you do not want to come to me to have life.


"I do not accept human praise;
moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you. 
I came in the name of my Father,
but you do not accept me;
yet if another comes in his own name,
you will accept him.
How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another
and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?
Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father:
the one who will accuse you is Moses,
in whom you have placed your hope.
For if you had believed Moses,
you would have believed me,
because he wrote about me. 
But if you do not believe his writings,
how will you believe my words?"

Meditacion:

Hoy invitamos a meditar a Monsenor Fernandez, Obispo Auxiliar de Buenos Aires.

En el Evangelio proclamado, acabamos de escuchar, como Jesús pone testigos de ese Amor de Dios por nosotros. Sabemos que testigo, es aquel que ha visto, que puede decir con verdad, que no miente, que es veraz, que han sucedido estos acontecimientos en la realidad, por eso en la vida de Jesús son parte de su historia que es nuestra historia, que no es una fantasía no es una ilusión, no es una enseñanza, no es un cuento, sino que el testigo afirma con veracidad lo que sus ojos vieron, lo que sus manos tocaron, lo que su razón captó y lo que su corazón creyó.

Así Jesús en el Evangelio pone como testigo a Juan el Bautista que le ha dado testimonio de la Verdad. El Bautista era para el pueblo no alguien pagado por intereses del poder corrupto de turno, ni era un mediocre que necesitara el aplauso ni los votos de la gente, era una lámpara, que arde y resplandece, y el pueblo acudía a el para convertir el corazón. Otro testigo de Jesús son las obras que Él hacia y hablaban del Amor del Padre, no necesitaba el reconocimiento de la gente. Que grade que es cuando nuestro obrar es desde el amor hacia el otro sin esperar reconocimiento, son gratuitas las obras como las de Jesús.

La Pascua queridos amigos será la obra mas grande de ese Amor gratuito de Dios por el hombre, entrega su vida libremente en la Cruz para que nosotros tengamos Vida para siempre. Todas las obras de Jesús son su misma vida, y que las conocemos, cuanto nos habla Esa Vida sencilla, pobre y austera que había comenzado en ese abajamiento en Belén.

En ese Jesús manso, humilde, siempre sirviendo, acompañando al enfermo al que sufre, perdonando a los pecadores, luchando por la paz y la justicia entre los hermanos, humilde, amante de la belleza, con pasión por la Verdad, cercano a los pobres y a olvidados, estas obras son testigos del Amor de Dios. Hasta la Pascua, porque esta obra si es la más grande de ese amor que hasta el extremo mostró Dios por nosotros. También hoy en el Evangelio aparece como testigos la misma Palabra de Dios, que no son leyes sino que es Vida, Vida plena, Vida Eterna de Dios. El mundo de hoy a veces quiere presentar testigos para lo que le conviene, como queriendo expresar en ellos que hay plenitud de vida.

Son los ídolos a veces del poder del dinero, de la droga, del deporte de la música, del trabajo, testigos que a veces instalan los medios que necesitan muchos para vivir de ellos.

Hermanos nos vamos acercando al testimonio mas grande de Amor, se acerca la Pascua de Jesucristo, vayamos con el a Jerusalén, vivamos con él Su Pasión, Su muerte en la Cruz y Su Resurrección, para vivir con Él plenamente y para siempre. Amen

In the proclaimed Gospel, we have just heard, as Jesus puts witnesses of that Love of God for us. We know that witness, is the one who has seen, who can truly say, who does not lie, who is truthful, that these events have happened in reality, that is why in the life of Jesus they are part of his story that is our history, that it is not a fantasy is not an illusion, it is not a teaching, it is not a story, but the witness affirms with truth what his eyes saw, what his hands touched, what his reason captured and what his heart believed .

Thus, Jesus in the Gospel puts John the Baptist as witness, who has given him testimony of the Truth. The Baptist was for the people not someone paid for interests of the corrupt power of the day, nor was it mediocre that needed the applause or the votes of the people, it was a lamp, that burns and shines, and the people went to it to convert the heart. Another witness of Jesus are the works that He did and spoke of the Love of the Father, he did not need the recognition of the people. What a great thing it is when our work is from love towards the other without waiting for recognition, works like Jesus' are free.

Easter, dear friends, will be the greatest work of that gratuitous love of God for man, gives his life freely on the Cross so that we can have Life forever. All of Jesus' works are his own life, and we know them, as we speak that simple life, poor and austere that had begun in that low in Bethlehem.

In that meek, humble Jesus, always serving, accompanying the sick to the suffering, forgiving the sinners, fighting for peace and justice among the brothers, humble, lover of beauty, with passion for the Truth, close to the poor already forgotten, these works are witnesses of the Love of God. Until Easter, because this work is the greatest of that love that to the extreme showed God for us. Even today in the Gospel, the same Word of God appears as witnesses, which are not laws but are Life, Full Life, Eternal Life of God. Today's world sometimes wants to present witnesses for what is convenient for them, as if to express in them that there is fullness of life.

They are the idols sometimes of the power of money, of drugs, of the sport of music, of work, witnesses that sometimes install the means that many need to live on them.

Brothers, we are approaching the greatest testimony of Love, the Passover of Jesus Christ is coming, let us go with him to Jerusalem, live with him His Passion, His death on the Cross and His Resurrection, to live with Him fully and forever. Amen
