Camino de santidad

Jn 3, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a Nicodemo: "No te extrañes de que te haya dicho: 'Tienen que renacer de lo alto'. El viento sopla donde quiere y oyes su ruido, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va. Así pasa con quien ha nacido del Espíritu". Nicodemo le preguntó entonces: "¿Cómo puede ser esto?"

Jesús le respondió: "Tú eres maestro de Israel, ¿y no sabes esto? Yo te aseguro que nosotros hablamos de lo que sabemos y damos testimonio de lo que hemos visto, pero ustedes no aceptan nuestro testimonio. Si no creen cuando les hablo de las cosas de la tierra, ¿cómo creerán si les hablo de las celestiales? Nadie ha subido al cielo sino el Hijo del hombre, que bajó del cielo y está en el cielo. Así como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto, así tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre, para que todo el que crea en él tenga vida eterna".

Jesus said to Nicodemus:
"'You must be born from above.'
The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes,
but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes;
so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Nicodemus answered and said to him,
'How can this happen?"
Jesus answered and said to him,
"You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this?
Amen, amen, I say to you,
we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen,
but you people do not accept our testimony.
If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe,
how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

Meditacion:

En la primera lectura del evangelio de hoy, nos muestra como vivia esa primera Iglesia primitiva, poniendo todo en comun, viviendo en una perfecta comunidad donde no habia tuyo y mio.

Muy pocas veces en mi vida yo he experimentado esa sensacion de comunidad perfecta pero a veces, en un retiro, en una convivencia, en el diario vivir en el monasterio, se apercibia ese "espiritu de hermandad" que nos ponia mas cerca del cielo que de la tierra.

Y en el evangelio, contemplamos esta conversacion de Jesus con Nicodemo, maestro de la Ley.. seria algo asi como un Doctor en Teologia y sacerdote, que le pregunta a Jesus como podria ser esto de "renacer del espiritu"?

Jesus le reprocha que no lo escuchan ni cuando habla del cielo ni cuando habla de la tierra.

Necesitamos renacer en el espiritu, cada dia, en cada momento.

Necesitamos "ver la vida a traves de las llagas de Jesus" como dice San Francisco de Asis que de eso sabia bastante.

Y este Santo maraviloso agregaba una frase que debemos tener siempre presente "tus actos pueden ser el unico evangelio que algunas personas escuchen hoy".

Por eso, hay que orar, trabajar, ser muy misericordiosos y creer, creer profundamente en el misterio de la resurreccion de Jesus.

Ayer, leyendo el nuevo documento del Papa Francisco sobre el llamado a la santidad , encontraba que para Francisco el camino de la santidad pasa por las bienaventuranzas y por lo que hicimos por los otros.

Estamos llamados a ser santos y estamos llamados a renacer en el espíritu, es un regalo que Jesus compro con su propia vida. Los invito hoy dia a reflexionar sobre que nos separa de un camino de santidad, "nuestro" propio camino de santidad. Amen

In the first reading of the Gospel today, it shows us how that first primitive Church lived, putting everything in common, living in a perfect community where there was not yours and mine.

Very few times in my life I have experienced that feeling of perfect community but sometimes, in a retreat, in a conviviality, in the daily life in the monastery, I was reminded of that "spirit of brotherhood" that put us closer to heaven than from the earth.

And in the gospel, we contemplate this conversation of Jesus with Nicodemus, teacher of the Law .. would be something like a Doctor in Theology and a priest, who asks Jesus how could this be "reborn from the spirit"?

Jesus reproaches him for not listening to him when he talks about heaven or when he talks about the earth.

We need to be reborn in the spirit, every day, every moment.

We need to "see life through the wounds of Jesus" as Saint Francis of Assisi says that he knew a lot about it.

And this wonderful Saint added a phrase that we must always keep in mind "your acts may be the only gospel that some people hear today".

Therefore, we must pray, work, be very merciful and believe, believe deeply in the mystery of the resurrection of Jesus.

Yesterday, reading the new document of Pope Francis on the call to holiness, I found that for Francis the path of holiness goes through the beatitudes and what we did for others.

We are called to be saints and we are called to be reborn in the spirit, it is a gift that Jesus bought with his own life. I invite you today to reflect on what separates us from a path of holiness, "our" own path of holiness. Amen
