La perfecta aceptación de Dios

Lc 1, 26-38

En aquel tiempo, el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una ciudad de Galilea, llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con un varón de la estirpe de David, llamado José. La virgen se llamaba María.

Entró el ángel a donde ella estaba y le dijo: "Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo". Al oír estas palabras, ella se preocupó mucho y se preguntaba qué querría decir semejante saludo.

El ángel le dijo: "No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia ante Dios. Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo; el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre, y él reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reinado no tendrá fin".

María le dijo entonces al ángel: "¿Cómo podrá ser esto, puesto que yo permanezco virgen?" El ángel le contestó: "El Espíritu Santo descenderá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra. Por eso, el Santo, que va a nacer de ti, será llamado Hijo de Dios. Ahí tienes a tu parienta Isabel, que a pesar de su vejez, ha concebido un hijo y ya va en el sexto mes la que llamaban estéril, porque no hay nada imposible para Dios". María contestó: "Yo soy la esclava del Señor; cúmplase en mí lo que me has dicho". Y el ángel se retiró de su presencia.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin's name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
"Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel,
"How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.

Meditacion:

Hasta la semana pasada veníamos leyendo el evangelio sobre todo lo que paso después de Pascua.. las lecturas eran mas que todo de Marcos, dejando las del evangelio de Juan que se leen normalmente en semana santa y de hechos de los apóstoles.

Si veniamos atento a esta secuencia, nos parecera raro encontrar la lectura de la anunciacion hoy dia. 

Lo que sucede aca es que desplazada a esta fecha por la coincidencia del 25 de marzo con el Domingo de Ramos, celebramos hoy la solemnidad de la Anunciación.

Maria representa la perfeccion de nuestra aceptacion frente al misterio de Dios.

Maria era joven, muy joven; corria muchisimos riesgos entregandose de esta manera a Dios, con total confianza, podria haber sido acusada de adultera y apedreada.

Pero en el dialogo con el angel Gabriel no hay grandes dudas, solo curiosidad de como podia suceder tal cosa.  Una vez satisfecha su curiosidad, no duda en entregarse a los designios de Dios.

Me he preguntado frecuentemente cuantos de nosotros aceptamos los designios de Dios de esta manera.. sencilla, franca, directa...

En el evangelio de ayer contemplamos como Tomas, en una actitud tremendamente humana, pedía ver a Jesus para creer.. hoy contemplamos a Maria en un si lleno de confianza aceptar un destino que podría haber sido de muchos problemas pero que fue de grandeza.

Dos actitudes frente al dilema de creer sin ver.

Y aquí viene el contraste entre esas reacciones nuestras tan frecuentes y la actitud de María (prefigurada, eso sí, por la respuesta de fe de tantos patriarcas, profetas y justos). Ella, es, en primer lugar, la que vive en un lugar abierto, la que no se esconde. Es verdad que las palabras del Ángel la turban, y que no lo entiende todo de entrada, pero ella es la que acoge y confía. Por fin, María es la que, en vez de exigir o pedir, se ofrece y colabora. María, Inmaculada y llena de gracia, representa ese núcleo del ser humano no contaminado por el pecado, su capacidad para abrirse a la llamada de Dios, para acoger su palabra y ponerse a su disposición. Por eso, no vemos en ella un ser extraño y lejano: María de Nazaret es un ser humano, es de nuestra carne, de nuestro pueblo, habla en nuestro dialecto. De ahí que, en una profunda intuición del pueblo de Dios, casi cada lugar, región y nación cristiana la reclame como suya en esa multiplicación de advocaciones de la única María de Nazaret. Ella dijo sí por todos nosotros, para que el Señor pueda estar también con nosotros. Y nosotros, contemplándola hoy en esta escena, cumbre de la historia de la humanidad convertida en historia de salvación, podemos adoptar sus mismos actitudes, salir al lugar abierto, despejar el temor y la desconfianza, acoger la Palabra, llena de bendiciones y promesas, hacernos disponibles para que esa Palabra que salva pueda seguir encarnándose hoy en nuestro mundo. Amen

Until last week we were reading the gospel about everything that happened after Easter ... the readings were mostly from Mark, leaving the Gospel of John that is read normally in Holy Week and the events of the apostles.

If we were paying attention to this sequence, we would find it strange to find the reading of the announcement today.

What happens here is that, moved to this date by the coincidence of March 25 with Palm Sunday, today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation.

Maria represents the perfection of our acceptance before the mystery of God.

Maria was young, very young; I ran a lot of risks surrendering this way to God, with total confidence, I could have been accused of being adulterated and stoned.

But in the dialogue with the angel Gabriel there are no great doubts, just curiosity about how this could happen. Once his curiosity is satisfied, he does not hesitate to surrender to the designs of God.

I have often asked myself how many of us accept the designs of God in this way ... simple, frank, direct ...

In the Gospel of yesterday we contemplated how Tomas, in a tremendously human attitude, asked to see Jesus to believe. Today we contemplate Mary in a yes full of confidence accept a destiny that could have been of many problems but that was of greatness.

Two attitudes to the dilemma of believing without seeing.

And here comes the contrast between our frequent reactions and the attitude of Mary (prefigured, yes, by the response of faith of so many patriarchs, prophets and just). She is, in the first place, the one who lives in an open place, the one who does not hide. It is true that the words of the Angel disturb her, and that she does not understand everything at first, but she is the one that welcomes and trusts. Finally, Mary is the one who, instead of demanding or asking, offers and collaborates. Mary, Immaculate and full of grace, represents that nucleus of the human being uncontaminated by sin, his capacity to open himself to the call of God, to welcome his word and to place himself at his disposal. For that reason, we do not see in her a strange and distant being: Mary of Nazareth is a human being, she is of our flesh, of our people, she speaks in our dialect. Hence, in a profound intuition of the people of God, almost every place, region and Christian nation claim it as theirs in that multiplication of invocations of the only Mary of Nazareth. She said yes for all of us, so that the Lord can also be with us. And we, contemplating it today in this scene, the summit of the history of humanity converted into a history of salvation, we can adopt its same attitudes, go out into the open, clear fear and distrust, welcome the Word, full of blessings and promises, make us available so that the Word that saves can continue to be embodied today in our world.
