El mas grande, sera el mas pequeno

Mc 10, 32-45

En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos iban camino de Jerusalén y Jesús se les iba adelantando. Los discípulos estaban sorprendidos y la gente que lo seguía tenía miedo. Él se llevó aparte otra vez a los Doce y se puso a decirles lo que le iba a suceder: "Ya ven que nos estamos dirigiendo a Jerusalén y el Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado a los sumos sacerdotes y a los escribas; van a condenarlo a muerte y a entregarlo a los paganos; se van a burlar de él, van a escupirlo, a azotarlo y a matarlo; pero al tercer día resucitará".

Entonces se acercaron a Jesús Santiago y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo, y le dijeron: "Maestro, queremos que nos concedas lo que vamos a pedirte". Él les dijo: "¿Qué es lo que desean?" Le respondieron: "Concede que nos sentemos uno a tu derecha y otro a tu izquierda, cuando estés en tu gloria". Jesús les replicó: "No saben lo que piden. ¿Podrán pasar la prueba que yo voy a pasar y recibir el bautismo con que seré bautizado?" Le respondieron: "Sí podemos". Y Jesús les dijo: "Ciertamente pasarán la prueba que yo voy a pasar y recibirán el bautismo con que yo seré bautizado; pero eso de sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda no me toca a mí concederlo; eso es para quienes está reservado".

Cuando los otros diez apóstoles oyeron esto, se indignaron contra Santiago y Juan. Jesús reunió entonces a los Doce y les dijo: "Ya saben que los jefes de las naciones las gobiernan como si fueran sus dueños y los poderosos las oprimen. Pero no debe ser así entre ustedes. Al contrario: el que quiera ser grande entre ustedes que sea su servidor, y el que quiera ser el primero, que sea el esclavo de todos, así como el Hijo del hombre, que no ha venido a que lo sirvan, sino a servir y a dar su vida por la redención de todos".

The disciples were on the way, going up to Jerusalem,
and Jesus went ahead of them.
They were amazed, and those who followed were afraid.
Taking the Twelve aside again, he began to tell them
what was going to happen to him.
"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man
will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, 
and they will condemn him to death
and hand him over to the Gentiles who will mock him,
spit upon him, scourge him, and put him to death,
but after three days he will rise."

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
came to Jesus and said to him,
"Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you."
He replied, "What do you wish me to do for you?"
They answered him,
"Grant that in your glory
we may sit one at your right and the other at your left."
Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the chalice that I drink
or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?"
They said to him, "We can."
Jesus said to them, "The chalice that I drink, you will drink,
and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized;
but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give
but is for those for whom it has been prepared."
When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John.
Jesus summoned them and said to them,
"You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles
lord it over them,
and their great ones make their authority over them felt.
But it shall not be so among you.
Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.
For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy esta lleno de figuras que buscan educarnos en la fe.

Primero, nos muestra a un Jesus decidido, marchando al frente de todos, resuelto, guiando a sus ovejas, las cuales estan sorprendidas y con temor frente a este Jesus que parece enfrentar lo que tenga que enfrentar sin complejos.

Es en este contexto y despues de que Jesus les dice que sera condenado y muerto pero resucitara que se produce este dialogo, similar al que leiamos ayer, donde dos de sus discipulos se acercan para aclarar "lo que ellos querian de Jesus".

Visto y leidos mas de 2000 anos despues, nos parece mezquino y egoista los pedidos.. estar uno sentado a la derecha y otro a la izquierda en la gloria.

Pero Jesus, acostumbrado a los desplantes de sus apostoles, no reacciona, no les llama la atencion, solo aprovecha el momento para explicarles que no estaba en sus manos concederles eso.

Posteriormente, los otros apostoles si se enojan y nuevamente Jesus apacienta sus ovejas pidiendoles caridad y amor fraterno entre ellos.

Cuando uno sube una montana, cada vez ve mas lejos el horizonte. En la vida espiritual es lo mismo, cuanto uno mas se eleva, cosas pequenas como el figurar se convirten en prescindibles y cosas mas profundas como el tratar de hacer la voluntad de Dios, en imperativas.

Hay un paso, una transicion entre aceptar que el amor de Dios todo lo llena en nuestras vidas y la vida que llevamos, a la cual llenamos de obligaciones mundanas.

Y una parte muy importante de hacer esta transicion es el servicio a los demas.

Servir es rebajarse ante aquel a quien se sirve. El servidor se sitúa al menos un peldaño por debajo de quien es servido.  Ello explica que todos busquemos profesiones que no nos obliguen a rebajarnos ante nadie, sino a permanecer autónomos e iguales. Pero parece que en la mente y en el corazón de Jesús las cosas van por otro lado. El no cuestiona sobre dignidades, sino sobre el amor. Un enamorado intenta agradar a su amada y ni se le pasa por la cabeza que con ello es “menos”. Se ha transformado su corazón de manera que la voluntad de la otra persona se ha hecho propia. Jesús habló y, sobre todo, vivió algo así, pero con mayúsculas. Y quiso que los suyos fueran de este linaje. Sabemos que los cargos, sobre todo si son altos, mezclan a los hombres pero no los unen. Y la desigualdad a favor del otro –entiéndase bien- es lo único que de verdad une, aunque ello se logre las más de las veces por vía de la aceptación y no tanto de la elección.

Se ha dicho que una de las carencias más lamentables de nuestra cultura occidental es la falta el trato directo con grandes personalidad, que sean modelos de vida. En efecto, es rarísimo encontrarse con una persona paciente y humilde al estilo de Cristo. Son muchísimos los que no han conocido a una persona verdaderamente servicial, o a alguien con integridad y amor verdaderos. Por eso es fundamental insistir en que la evangelización pasa por la imitación de actos excelentes, no por la aplicación de reglamentos o el respeto a leyes. No se puede aprender el evangelio sin mímesis, sin imitación, sin testigos. ¿Cómo van a entender si no ven? ¿Cómo verán si alguien no se lo muestra? ¿Cómo alguien mostrará el amor si no está seducido previamente?. Amen

But Jesus, accustomed to the rudeness of his apostles, does not react, does not call them attention, only takes advantage of the moment to explain to them that it was not in their hands to grant them that.

Later, the other apostles if they get angry and again Jesus feeds his sheep asking for charity and brotherly love among them.

When you climb a mountain, you see the horizon farther and farther. In the spiritual life it is the same, the more one rises, small things like figuring become dispensable and deeper things like trying to do the will of God, in imperatives.

There is a step, a transition between accepting that the love of God fills everything in our lives and the life we ​​lead, to which we fill with worldly obligations.

And a very important part of making this transition is service to others.

To serve is to lower oneself before the one to whom it is served. The server is placed at least one step below who is served. This explains why we all look for professions that do not force us to lower ourselves before anyone, but to remain autonomous and equal. But it seems that in the mind and in the heart of Jesus things go the other way. He does not question dignities, but about love. A lover tries to please his beloved and it does not even occur to him that this is "less". His heart has been transformed so that the other person's will has become his own. Jesus spoke and, above all, he lived something like that, but in capital letters. And he wanted his people to be of this lineage. We know that the charges, especially if they are high, mix men but they do not unite them. And inequality in favor of the other - well understood - is the only thing that really unites, even if this is achieved most of the time by way of acceptance and not so much by choice.

It has been said that one of the most regrettable deficiencies of our Western culture is the lack of direct contact with great personality, which are models of life. In fact, it is very rare to meet a patient and humble person in the style of Christ. There are many who have not met a truly helpful person, or someone with true integrity and love. That is why it is essential to insist that evangelization goes through the imitation of excellent acts, not by the application of regulations or respect for laws. You can not learn the gospel without mimesis, without imitation, without witnesses. How will they understand if they do not see? How will they see if someone does not show it to them? How will someone show love if he is not previously seduced? Amen
