Jn 17, 20-26

GospelJN 17:20-26
Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying:
"I pray not only for these,
but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
so that they may all be one,
as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
that they also may be in us,
that the world may believe that you sent me.
And I have given them the glory you gave me,
so that they may be one, as we are one,
I in them and you in me,
that they may be brought to perfection as one,
that the world may know that you sent me,
and that you loved them even as you loved me.
Father, they are your gift to me.
I wish that where I am they also may be with me,
that they may see my glory that you gave me,
because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,
but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them."

Meditacion:
Amen

There is a very interesting phrase in this chapter called "Priestly Prayer" that highlights ... "that we all be one".
Jesus asks for unity in the love of the Father so that we share the glory.
And seen today, more than 2000 years later, it seems something that remains there, in the past.
We read the news of a world increasingly lost in the insensitivity of the mass media, a world that is lost in the transience of relationships, that no longer speaks, textes or sends email, a world where the sense of charity, mercy and personal integrity.
However, here and there, the Holy Spirit works insistently reminding us of the words of the traveler "that we all be one".
Like Jesus' action, ours is also very limited to a specific space and time. He wants to count on others, wants to count on us, to continue his work in the world. It does not matter that we have limits. He knows. The decision to announce him fills our life with confidence and hope for a better world, no matter if what we do is very little, because, as Pope Francis says in the Evangelii Gaudium "When you risk, the Lord does not disappoint you, and when someone takes a small step towards Jesus, discovers that he was already waiting for his arrival with open arms. This is the moment to say to Jesus Christ: "Lord, I have let myself be deceived, in a thousand ways I escaped your love, but here I am again to renew my covenant with you. I need you. Rescue me again, Lord, accept me once more in your redemptive arms ». Amen
