Sigueme...

Mc 10, 17-27

En aquel tiempo, cuando salía Jesús al camino, se le acercó corriendo un hombre, se arrodilló ante él y le preguntó: "Maestro bueno, ¿qué debo hacer para alcanzar la vida eterna?" Jesús le contestó: "¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno sino sólo Dios. Ya sabes los mandamientos: No matarás, no cometerás adulterio, no robarás, no levantarás falso testimonio, no cometerás fraudes, honrarás a tu padre y a tu madre".

Entonces él le contestó: "Maestro, todo eso lo he cumplido desde muy joven''. Jesús lo miró con amor y le dijo: "Sólo una cosa te falta: Ve y vende lo que tienes, da el dinero a los pobres y así tendrás un tesoro en los cielos. Después, ven y sígueme". Pero al oír estas palabras, el hombre se entristeció y se fue apesadumbrado, porque tenía muchos bienes.

Jesús, mirando a su alrededor, dijo entonces a sus discípulos: "¡Qué difícil les va a ser a los ricos entrar en el Reino de Dios!" Los discípulos quedaron sorprendidos ante estas palabras; pero Jesús insistió: "Hijitos, ¡qué difícil es para los que confían en las riquezas, entrar en el Reino de Dios! Más fácil le es a un camello pasar por el ojo de una aguja, que a un rico entrar en el Reino de Dios".

Ellos se asombraron todavía más y comentaban entre sí: "Entonces, ¿quién puede salvarse?" Jesús, mirándolos fijamente, les dijo: "Es imposible para los hombres, mas no para Dios. Para Dios todo es posible".

GospelMK 10:17-27

As Jesus was setting out on a journey, a man ran up,
knelt down before him, and asked him,
"Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good?
No one is good but God alone.
You know the commandments: You shall not kill;
you shall not commit adultery;
you shall not steal;
you shall not bear false witness;
you shall not defraud;
honor your father and your mother."
He replied and said to him,
"Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth." 
Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him,
"You are lacking in one thing.
Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor
and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
At that statement, his face fell,
and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,
"How hard it is for those who have wealth
to enter the Kingdom of God!"
The disciples were amazed at his words.
So Jesus again said to them in reply,
"Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God."
They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves,
"Then who can be saved?"
Jesus looked at them and said,
"For men it is impossible, but not for God.
All things are possible for God."

Meditacion:

Vivimos en un mundo en que las "cosas" que poseemos nos dan un muy falso sentido de equilibrio y seguridad.

Sicologicamente, saber que tenemos que pagar cada mes nuestro carro, la luz, el celular, etc, nos obliga a entrar en una rutina de trabajar para generar dinero para cumplir con nuestras obligaciones, dandonos cierta base sobre nuestro diario vivir.

Todos decimos y sin duda conocemos algun caso, que la vida te puede cambiar en cinco segundos.. un accidente en la calle, una enfermedad que no esperabamos, un encuentro inesperado para bien o para mal... y toda esa pretendida seguridad se derrumbara delante nuestro, llevandonos a un desequilibrio que yo llamo "de pompas de jabon" porque en realidad jamas se esta en control.

Jesus hace un llamado a este joven que venia viviendo de acuerdo a la Ley.. pero la pretendida seguridad que le daban sus bienes lo frena y no le impide seguir el llamado de Dios. 

 El hombre que en aquella ocasión corrió al encuentro de Jesús y se arrodilló ante él… no formuló bien su primera pregunta. Tenía trampa. Utilizó el verbo “tener” que en el seguimiento de Jesús está de sobra. Y menos si el sujeto agente del mismo es el “yo”. Se equivocó. O mejor dicho, quedó manifiestamente a la vista su intención. En las cosas del Reino uno ni es protagonista, ni debe tratar de añadir otra propiedad más a las que ya se tienen.  No es cuestión prioritariamente de hacer para tener, sino de entrar. El Reino siempre es un don gratuito, un regalo inmerecido, una meta inalcanzable. Por eso, Jesús le corrigió con delicadeza, pero sin adular ni hacer concesiones.

A continuación, Jesús le recomendó empezar por el principio, esto es, por hacer lo justo y debido: lo mandado por Dios. Hablar hoy de mandamientos nos resulta algo molesto y ya superado. Soportamos mal las imposiciones y por eso no nos gusta hablar de mandamientos, sobretodo cuando son incómodos. Y sin embargo son imprescindibles. Particularmente aquellos que cumplen tres requisitos que los acreditan: proteger valores fundamentales, evitar el subjetivismo y preservar en la debilidad. Tal vez tendríamos que recordarnos con más frecuencia que ésta fue la primera llamada de Jesús: A ser buenos. En el sentido mas basico del término. Sin esto, no se puede iniciar otros vuelos más altos.

Y después, venderlo todo. Esta es la segunda llamada. No se trata de una praxis ascética, ni de un desprecio de las realidades creadas, en particular de las más queridas o necesarias. Venderlo todo sólo puede entenderse desde la acogida de la propuesta de seguir a Jesús. O en términos de Pablo, hacer la “experiencia de la basura”, esto es, comprobar que todo lo que existe, y que en tantas ocasiones nos roba el corazón, es nada comparado con la suerte de conocer personalmente a Jesús, amarle intensamente y seguirle sin mirar atrás.

 Seguro que muchos de nosotros estaremos de acuerdo en que siguen existiendo personas como este personaje: buenas pero sin pasarse… y también sus contrarias. 

Pero si nos llamamos "seguidores de Jesus", que "vivimos en su espíritu y su gracia", este es el camino. Amen

We live in a world in which the "things" we possess give us a very false sense of balance and security.

Psychologically, knowing that we have to pay each month our car, the light, the cell phone, etc, forces us to enter a routine of working to generate money to fulfill our obligations, giving us some basis on our daily life.

We all say and without a doubt we know some case, that life can change you in five seconds .. an accident in the street, a disease that we did not expect, an unexpected encounter for good or bad ... and all that pretended security will collapse in front of us, leading to an imbalance that I call "soap bubbles" because in reality it is never in control.

Jesus makes a call to this young man who was living according to the Law ... but the supposed security that his property gave him stops him and does not prevent him from following the call of God.

 The man who on that occasion ran to meet Jesus and knelt before him ... did not formulate his first question well. I had a trap. He used the verb "to have" that in the follow-up of Jesus is in abundance. And less if the agent subject of the same is the "me". He was wrong. Or rather, his intention was clearly visible. In the things of the Kingdom one is not a protagonist, nor should he try to add another property to those already existing. It is not a matter of priority to do to have, but to enter. The Kingdom is always a free gift, an undeserved gift, an unattainable goal. Therefore, Jesus corrected him with delicacy, but without flattering or making concessions.

Next, Jesus recommended him to start at the beginning, that is, to do what is right and due: what God has commanded. Speaking of commandments today is somewhat annoying and outdated. We bear the impositions badly and for that reason we do not like to speak of commandments, especially when they are uncomfortable. And yet they are essential. Particularly those that meet three requirements that accredit them: protect fundamental values, avoid subjectivism and preserve weakness. Perhaps we should remind ourselves more often than not that this was Jesus' first call: To be good. In the most basic sense of the term. Without this, you can not start other higher flights.

And then, sell everything. This is the second call. It is not an ascetic praxis, nor a contempt for created realities, particularly those that are most dear or necessary. Selling everything can only be understood from the reception of the proposal to follow Jesus. Or in Paul's terms, to make the "garbage experience", that is, to verify that everything that exists, and that so often steals our hearts, is nothing compared to the luck of knowing Jesus personally, loving him intensely and follow him without looking back.

 Surely many of us will agree that there are still people like this character: good but without going ... and also their opponents.

But if we call ourselves "followers of Jesus," who "live in his spirit and his grace," this is the way. Amen
