Luz para el mundo

Mt 5, 13-16

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Ustedes son la sal de la tierra. Si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿con qué se le devolverá el sabor? Ya no sirve para nada y se tira a la calle para que la pise la gente.

Ustedes son la luz del mundo. No se puede ocultar una ciudad construida en lo alto de un monte; y cuando se enciende una vela, no se esconde debajo de una olla, sino que se pone sobre un candelero, para que alumbre a todos los de la casa.

Que de igual manera brille la luz de ustedes ante los hombres, para que viendo las buenas obras que ustedes hacen, den gloria a su Padre, que está en los cielos’’

GospelMT 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples:
"You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father."

Meditacion:

Hoy Jesus nos manda a ser "sal y luz de la tierra" o sea, a vivir con fe y, en buen castizo, a "hacer la diferencia" entre los hombres.

Puesto asi, parece facil pero la verdad que la mayoria de los catolicos viven una vida pendular que va del pecado a la gracia; no cuidan el milagro diario de la gracia de Dios.

Y es asi que vamos por la vida sin mostrar nuestra luz, tomando decisiones que no siempre son moralmente sanas o correctas, viviendo un mundo de pura ilusion en el cual pretenden tener el control.

Pero ser la sal y luz del mundo es reflejar con nuestra propia vida lo escrito en el evangelio, "escribir con nuestra propia vida el quinto evangelio" como dicen los profetas, llevar a cabo el maximo del potencial para el cual hemos sido enviados a este mundo.

Y eso no se consigue sin un esfuerzo voluntario respecto a vivir en la gracia. Yo opto por ser santo, yo opto porque Dios actue en mi vida de la manera en que El crea necesario, nuevamente, opciones...

No estamos (aunque podria parecer a veces) a merced del pecado y de la maldad, por el contrario, en cada momento por  medio del libre albedrio, estamos listos para decirdirnos a vivir en la gracia... podremos comenzar hoy este camino ascendente y tomar la decision de ser de una vez y para todas luz para el mundo? ese es el desafio para este martes. Amen

Today Jesus commands us to be "salt and light of the earth", that is, to live with faith and, in good faith, to "make a difference" among men.

Put like that, it seems easy but the truth is that most Catholics live a pendulum life that goes from sin to grace; they do not take care of the daily miracle of God's grace.

And so we go through life without showing our light, making decisions that are not always morally sound or correct, living a world of pure illusion in which they pretend to have control.

But to be the salt and light of the world is to reflect with our own life what is written in the gospel, "to write with our own life the fifth gospel" as the prophets say, to carry out the maximum potential for which we have been sent to this world.

And that is not achieved without a voluntary effort to live in grace. I choose to be holy, I choose because God acts in my life in the way that He believes necessary, again, options ...

We are not (although it might seem at times) at the mercy of sin and evil, on the contrary, at every moment through free will, we are ready to decide to live in grace ... we can start today this ascending path and Make the decision to be once and for all light for the world? that is the challenge for this Tuesday. Amen
