Mt 10, 24-33
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus apóstoles: "El discípulo no es más que el maestro, ni el criado más que su señor. Le basta al discípulo ser como su maestro y al criado ser como su señor. Si al señor de la casa lo han llamado Satanás, ¡qué no dirán de sus servidores!
No teman a los hombres. No hay nada oculto que no llegue a descubrirse; no hay nada secreto que no llegue a saberse. Lo que les digo de noche, repítanlo en pleno día y lo que les digo al oído, pregónenlo desde las azoteas.
No tengan miedo a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. Teman, más bien, a quien puede arrojar al lugar de castigo el alma y el cuerpo.
¿No es verdad que se venden dos pajarillos por una moneda? Sin embargo, ni uno solo de ellos cae por tierra si no lo permite el Padre. En cuanto a ustedes, hasta los cabellos de su cabeza están contados. Por lo tanto, no tengan miedo, porque ustedes valen mucho más que todos los pájaros del mundo.
A quien me reconozca delante de los hombres, yo también lo reconoceré ante mi Padre, que está en los cielos; pero al que me niegue delante de los hombres, yo también lo negaré ante mi Padre, que está en los cielos''.

If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,
how much more those of his household!
“Therefore do not be afraid of them.
Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;
rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy
both soul and body in Gehenna.
Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.0
Everyone who acknowledges me before others
I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
But whoever denies me before others,
I will deny before my heavenly Father.”

Meditacion:
“No tengáis miedo”. Hasta tres veces se repite en un pasaje tan corto. Jesús afirma que nadie nos podrá hacer suficiente daño desde fuera como para perder la calma, como para vencer la protección, la Providencia de Dios. Y lo está diciendo a quienes van a pasar malos momentos…
No es previsible que a nosotros nos persigan por ser cristianos, luego no deberíamos tener motivos para temer. Pero el “miedo” puede ser “defensivo” (algo me amenaza) o “conservador” (miedo al cambio). Y este es el más extendido hoy día.
No se puede ser cristiano de verdad si no hay una continua tensión de cambio, de mejora, de transformación del mundo. A los apóstoles no los amenazaban por permanecer en casa, sino por predicar el Reino, por hablar del Maestro, por tratar de llevar la Salvación a los demás. Y, en eso, nuestra situación no es tan distinta. No podemos permanecer de brazos cruzados, el miedo no debe agarrotarnos.
Desterremos, pues, el miedo a complicarnos la vida tratando de ayudar a otros; el miedo a exponernos a los comentarios de los demás por nuestras opiniones coherentes con el Evangelio; el miedo a tener que revisar cada día nuestras actitudes para ver si corresponden a lo que pretendemos vivir; el miedo a leer nuestra vida, nuestros criterios, a la luz de la Palabra; el miedo a sentirnos “bichos raros” en medio de una sociedad que en su mayoría ignora a Dios; el miedo, en definitiva, a ser cristianos “en activo”.
La buena noticia del Evangelio es que el Señor es muy superior a todo lo que podamos ver en el interior de nuestra vida y que él puede librar, sanar y salvar. ¡Es algo que él quiere hacer! Dejemos, pues, que Cristo nos haga ver las áreas de oscuridad que tenemos, no solamente por nuestro bien, sino por el testimonio de vida que demos.
“Espíritu Santo, Señor mío, escudriña mi corazón y enséñame a reconocer la oscuridad del alma; permite que tu luz brille en mis tinieblas interiores y me libre de toda maldad, para que así comparta con mis semejantes la buena noticia de la reconciliación.” Amen

"Do not be afraid". Up to three times is repeated in such a short passage. Jesus affirms that no one can harm us from the outside enough to lose his calm, as to overcome the protection, the Providence of God. And he's saying it to those who are going to have bad times ...
It is not foreseeable that they will persecute us for being Christians, then we should have no reason to fear. But "fear" can be "defensive" (something threatens me) or "conservative" (fear of change). And this is the most widespread today.
You can not be a true Christian if there is not a continuous tension of change, of improvement, of transformation of the world. The apostles were not threatened by staying at home, but by preaching the Kingdom, by speaking of the Master, for trying to bring Salvation to others. And, in that, our situation is not so different. We can not stand idly by, fear must not stiffen us.
Let us therefore discard the fear of complicating our lives by trying to help others; the fear of exposing ourselves to the comments of others for our opinions consistent with the Gospel; the fear of having to revise our attitudes every day to see if they correspond to what we intend to live; the fear of reading our life, our criteria, in the light of the Word; the fear of feeling "weirdos" in the midst of a society that mostly ignores God; the fear, in short, to be "active" Christians.
The good news of the Gospel is that the Lord is far superior to everything we can see inside our lives and that he can deliver, heal and save. It's something he wants to do! Let us, then, let Christ make us see the areas of darkness that we have, not only for our own good, but for the witness of life that we give.
"Holy Spirit, my Lord, search my heart and teach me to recognize the darkness of the soul; let your light shine in my inner darkness and free me from all unrighteousness, so that I may share with my fellows the good news of reconciliation. "Amen
