Los peces

Mt 13, 47-53

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a la multitud: "El Reino de los cielos se parece también a la red que los pescadores echan en el mar y recoge toda clase de peces. Cuando se llena la red, los pescadores la sacan a la playa y se sientan a escoger los pescados; ponen los buenos en canastos y tiran los malos. Lo mismo sucederá al final de los tiempos: vendrán los ángeles, separarán a los malos de los buenos y los arrojarán al horno encendido. Allí será el llanto y la desesperación.

¿Han entendido todo esto?'' Ellos le contestaron: "Sí". Entonces él les dijo: "Por eso, todo escriba instruido en las cosas del Reino de los cielos es semejante al padre de familia, que va sacando de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas antiguas".

Y cuando acabó de decir estas parábolas, Jesús se marchó de allí.

Jesus said to the disciples:
"The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."

"Do you understand all these things?"
They answered, "Yes."
And he replied,
"Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom
both the new and the old."
When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.

Meditacion:

Leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros"

Todos sabemos que la muerte es inevitable y los cristianos creemos que hay un cielo y un infierno. Pero, en realidad, ¿habrá un juicio general al final de los tiempos? Sí, así será. Todas estas “cosas del fin” son reales y bastante serias; sin embargo, no debemos permitir que la idea del fin nos cause un temor innecesario. Los seguidores de Cristo sabemos que Dios es un Padre tierno y amoroso, que nos ha concedido todo lo que nos hace falta para presentarnos en su presencia con paz y confianza, incluso en el día del juicio.

Una y otra vez la Escritura nos recuerda que los que están en Cristo son nuevas criaturas (2 Corintios 5, 17) y que los que creen en Jesús han pasado de la muerte a la vida y no serán condenados (Juan 5, 24). La verdad liberadora del Evangelio es que, si permanecemos fielmente unidos a Cristo, pasamos a ser “ovejas” y no “machos cabríos”; “trigo” y no “cizaña”.

Estimado amigo, ¿te atemoriza el pensar que el juicio es inevitable, o prefieres evitar el tema y ocupar la mente en otras cosas? Estas dos actitudes encuentran solución en un entendimiento más claro de la Persona y la obra de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor. En efecto, él mismo puede demostrarte que no tienes por qué temer el juicio, y para ello te ayuda a poner en orden todos los aspectos de tu vida, para que no te preocupes de otra cosa sino de fijar la mirada en el día en que llegues a contemplarlo cara a cara. Si te dedicas a conocerlo mejor haciendo oración, leyendo la Escritura y recibiendo los sacramentos, Cristo mismo te hará ver lo grande que es el tesoro que tienes en él y cómo has de comportarte para que tu vida sea grata a Dios y a los demás.

El Bautismo es apenas el comienzo de nuestra vida con Jesús, porque él mismo desea hacernos partícipes del don del Espíritu Santo y enseñarnos a vivir día a día “en Cristo”, para que aprendamos a apropiarnos de sus promesas de salvación y tener la confianza de saber que en él hemos sido redimidos. Jesús mismo quiere darse a nosotros para que cada uno se entregue en sus manos.

“Señor y Dios mío, te ruego que me libres del temor a la muerte y el juicio y me ayudes dedicarme de corazón a buscar la hermosura de tu faz y unirme a ti en el banquete del Reino de los cielos.” Amen

We all know that death is inevitable and Christians believe that there is a heaven and a hell. But, really, will there be a general judgment at the end of time? Yes, it will be. All these "things of the end" are real and quite serious; however, we must not allow the idea of ​​the end to cause us unnecessary fear. The followers of Christ know that God is a tender and loving Father, who has given us all we need to present ourselves in his presence with peace and trust, even on the day of judgment.

Again and again the Scripture reminds us that those who are in Christ are new creatures (2 Corinthians 5, 17) and that those who believe in Jesus have passed from death to life and will not be condemned (John 5:24). The liberating truth of the Gospel is that, if we remain faithfully united to Christ, we become "sheep" and not "goats"; "Wheat" and not "weeds".

Dear friend, is it frightening to think that judgment is inevitable, or do you prefer to avoid the subject and occupy the mind in other things? These two attitudes find a solution in a clearer understanding of the Person and the work of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Indeed, he can show you that you do not have to fear judgment, and for that he helps you to put in order all the aspects of your life, so that you do not worry about anything else but to look at the day when come to contemplate it face to face. If you dedicate yourself to know him better by praying, reading the Scriptures and receiving the sacraments, Christ himself will make you see how great is the treasure you have in him and how you have to behave so that your life is pleasing to God and to others.

Baptism is just the beginning of our life with Jesus, because he himself wishes to share with us the gift of the Holy Spirit and teach us to live day by day "in Christ", so that we learn to appropriate his promises of salvation and have the confidence of know that in him we have been redeemed. Jesus himself wants to give himself to us so that each one gives himself into his hands.

"Lord and my God, I beg you to free me from the fear of death and judgment and help me devote my heart to seek the beauty of your face and join you in the feast of the Kingdom of Heaven." Amen
