Lc 7, 11-17

GospelLK 7:11-17
Jesus journeyed to a city called Nain,
and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him.
As he drew near to the gate of the city,
a man who had died was being carried out,
the only son of his mother, and she was a widow.
A large crowd from the city was with her.
When the Lord saw her,
he was moved with pity for her and said to her,
"Do not weep."
He stepped forward and touched the coffin;
at this the bearers halted,
and he said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!"
The dead man sat up and began to speak,
and Jesus gave him to his mother.
Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming,
"A great prophet has arisen in our midst,"
and "God has visited his people."
This report about him spread through the whole of Judea
and in all the surrounding region.

Meditacion:
Amen

For some of us today's gospel may be ... just another miracle more ... at this height of the liturgical year and with less than 100 days until Christmas, we have listened to and meditated on many of Jesus' miracles.
We needed one more? but it is that the resurrection of the son of the widow of Naim has some unique things that we must see.
First. No one asked him to do so ... Jesus casually meets the funeral procession and is moved but he did not know the mother, he did not know anyone and yet he is moved and does the miracle ... God is like that, our pain moves him and something happens ... it is not always what we expect but the miracle always comes to change our reality .. although we do not always know how to see it.
The second and most interesting is the reaction of people who become fearful and begin to praise God and proclaim "God has visited his people.
How often do we when we are in need and fearful cling desperately to prayer, trying to force the action of God .. but God knows us, knows about us; before we ask for something. Surely He already has some answer to our problem that we can not identify yet.
As I said a phrase I read the other days "Do not pray for God to hear you, pray to be able to listen to God." The differences are always subtle but important.
Then, today, Tuesday, we pray for the times that God went ahead of us, who granted us a grace that "we do not deserve", whatever that may be ... and we thank for all the good and the not so good of our lives because everything comes from Him .
"Lord and my Savior, teach me to trust in you without reservation to do good deeds when someone needs them." Amen
