Lc 7, 1-10

GospelLK 7:1-10
When Jesus had finished all his words to the people,
he entered Capernaum.
A centurion there had a slave who was ill and about to die,
and he was valuable to him.
When he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to him,
asking him to come and save the life of his slave.
They approached Jesus and strongly urged him to come, saying,
"He deserves to have you do this for him,
for he loves our nation and he built the synagogue for us."
And Jesus went with them,
but when he was only a short distance from the house,
the centurion sent friends to tell him,
"Lord, do not trouble yourself,
for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof.
Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you;
but say the word and let my servant be healed.
For I too am a person subject to authority,
with soldiers subject to me.
And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes;
and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes;
and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it."
When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him
and, turning, said to the crowd following him,
"I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith."
When the messengers returned to the house,
they found the slave in good health.

Meditacion:
Amen

The Gospel of this Monday speaks of humility.
How important will be the words of the Roman centurion, recognizing his own humility and recognizing the greatness of Jesus, which we continue to repeat today in the final formula of the mass before the communion ..
"Lord, I am not worthy to enter my house but a word from you will be enough to heal me ..." And we repeat this formula many times without even noticing the greatness of the moment, Jesus will come to us in a few moments, we have gone through the liturgy of the word, we have heard the homily; we have performed the prayers and the miracle of transubstantiation has been performed on the altar altar,
Then, in a final act of humility, we recognize in the Lord that we only need a word from Him to be saved.
Humility is required to admit the need of Jesus ... without Him, we are not much, with Him we are everything.
It is important that each time we are going to request something, copy the master formula of the centurion that knew how to reach the heart of Jesus with an unstoppable formula: humility, united to faith.
Maybe you also have a great need that you want to put before God in prayer. I invite you to imitate the centurion. You do not know what God's will is about it, and you do not have the power to change anything for yourself; but you know that the Lord loves you and that is a good starting point. Introduce him to your needs and trust that he can satisfy them.
"Lord and my God, help me to believe more and be more humble. Jesus I trust you."
Amen
