La mano en sabado

Lc 6, 6-11

Un sábado, Jesús entró en la sinagoga y se puso a enseñar. Había allí un hombre que tenía la mano derecha paralizada. Los escribas y fariseos estaban acechando a Jesús para ver si curaba en sábado y tener así de qué acusarlo.

Pero Jesús, conociendo sus intenciones, le dijo al hombre de la mano paralizada: "Levántate y ponte ahí en medio". El hombre se levantó y se puso en medio. Entonces Jesús les dijo: "Les voy a hacer una pregunta: ¿Qué es lo que está permitido hacer en sábado: el bien o el mal, salvar una vida o acabar con ella?" Y después de recorrer con la vista a todos los presentes, le dijo al hombre: "Extiende la mano". El la extendió y quedó curado.

Los escribas y fariseos se pusieron furiosos y discutían entre sí lo que le iban a hacer a Jesús.

GospelLK 6:6-11

On a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught,
and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely
to see if he would cure on the sabbath
so that they might discover a reason to accuse him.
But he realized their intentions
and said to the man with the withered hand,
"Come up and stand before us."
And he rose and stood there.
Then Jesus said to them,
"I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath
rather than to do evil,
to save life rather than to destroy it?"
Looking around at them all, he then said to him,
"Stretch out your hand."
He did so and his hand was restored.
But they became enraged
and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.

Meditacion:

Muchas veces nosotros tambien nos comportamos como los escribas y fariseos del evangelio de hoy.

Nos quedamos en lo normativo y nos olvidamos de la misericordia, de la caridad; nos escudamos en supuestas leyes que olvidan el factor humano.

Jesus pone nuevamente las cosas en su lugar: la compasion siempre esta sobre la ley, una ley sin compasion no sirve.

El sabado era el dia en que Dios vio que todo era bueno, era el dia de la oracion, la alegria y el encuentro con el conocimiento en la oracion en la sinagoga pero los judios lo habian convertido en un dia donde practicamente muchisimas cosas estaban prohibidas de hacer. Nuevamente, se habian quedado en lo superficial, en la norma, en la regla y se habian olvidado de las personas. Nosotros tambien, muchas veces, hacemos de nuestra vida un sabado, fijandonos solo en lo que las reglas dicen y no dando lugar al hermano que sufre, que es diferente, que no encaja en nuestras formas de ver la vida.

Pero Jesus nos enseña un camino distinto, un camino donde la ley es el amor en accion, la compasion, la caridad, el servicio. 

Jesús nos pide, con su amor y compasión, que vivamos como él vivió, perdonando y haciendo el bien.

“Amado Señor Jesús, concédenos la gracia de reconocer lo mucho que necesitamos tu mano sanadora y permite, Señor, que tu luz resplandezca en nosotros, para que aprendamos a amar a Dios y al prójimo.” Amen

Many times we also behave like the scribes and Pharisees of the gospel of today.

We stay in the normative and we forget the mercy, the charity; we shield ourselves in supposed laws that forget the human factor.

Jesus puts things back in their place: compassion is always on the law, a law without compassion does not work.

Saturday was the day God saw that everything was good, it was the day of prayer, joy and meeting with knowledge in prayer in the synagogue but the Jews had turned it into a day where practically a lot of things were forbidden of doing. Again, they had stayed in the superficial, in the norm, in the rule and had forgotten about the people. We also, many times, make our life a Saturday, fixing ourselves only in what the rules say and not giving rise to the suffering brother, who is different, who does not fit in our ways of seeing life.

But Jesus teaches us a different way, a way where the law is love in action, compassion, charity, service.

Jesus asks us, with his love and compassion, to live as he lived, forgiving and doing good.

"Beloved Lord Jesus, grant us the grace to recognize how much we need your healing hand and allow, Lord, that your light shine in us, so that we learn to love God and our neighbor." Amen
