Mt 18, 1-5. 10

En cierta ocasión, los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y le preguntaron: "¿Quién es más grande en el Reino de los cielos?"

Jesús llamó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos y les dijo: "Yo les aseguro a ustedes que si no cambian y no se hacen como los niños, no entrarán en el Reino de los cielos. Así pues, quien se haga pequeño como este niño, ése es el más grande en el Reino de los cielos. Y el que reciba a un niño como éste en mi nombre, me recibe a mí.

Cuidado con despreciar a uno de estos pequeños, pues yo les digo que sus ángeles, en el cielo, ven continuamente el rostro de mi Padre, que está en el cielo''.

The disciples approached Jesus and said,
"Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?"
He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said,
"Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,

Whoever humbles himself like this child
is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones,

Hoy es la fiesta de los angeles custodios... leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros"

Sus ángeles, en el cielo, ven continuamente el rostro de mi Padre, que está en el cielo. (Mateo 18, 10)

Hoy rendimos homenaje a nuestros ángeles custodios.

Algunos consideran que los ángeles de la guarda no son más que seres imaginarios, pero el Papa San Juan XXIII tenía otra opinión: “Nuestro Padre celestial ha encargado a sus ángeles auxiliarnos durante nuestra peregrinación terrenal... para que, protegidos por la ayuda y el cuidado de los ángeles, evitemos las trampas que haya por el camino, aprendamos a dominar las pasiones y... avancemos siempre por el camino recto y seguro que conduce al paraíso.”

¡Esto es fantástico! Dios te ama tanto, hermano, que te ha dado tu propio ángel para que te cuide, y así, día tras día, sea lo que sea que estés haciendo, tu ángel custodio está contigo, rezando contigo, comunicándote mensajes de esperanza y consolación, y exhortándote a no alejarte del Señor. ¡Es cierto! Incluso en tus momentos más oscuros o pecados más graves, tu ángel custodio nunca pierde la esperanza, y ¡tampoco debes perderla tú!

A veces nos quedamos fácilmente atrapados en las preocupaciones del día y se nos olvida que nos rodea el amor de Dios, pero nuestros ángeles de la guarda nos ayudan a recordar que él está siempre presente para nosotros y nos ofrece exactamente lo que necesitamos.

Así, pues, recordar las bendiciones que Dios te ha dado —como la de tu ángel de la guarda— te ayuda a tener más confianza en el Señor y no dudar de su amor cuando las cosas no resultan como tú quieres. Además, nos ayudan a todos a ser un poco más “como los niños” (Mateo 18, 3), es decir, confiar que Dios nos cuida, buscar su voluntad y darle gracias por su misericordia.

Esto es algo que puedes comprobar ahora mismo. Piensa en los varios meses transcurridos de este año y ve si puedes recordar algún momento específico en el que hayas sentido que Dios te ha ayudado en algo difícil. Procura recordar lo que sucedió y cómo sentiste la ayuda del Señor. Luego, deja que este recuerdo te haga convencerte de que tu Padre celestial se preocupa profundamente de ti, porque ¡lo hace!

“Te doy gracias, Padre amado, por darme un ángel custodio para que me cuide. Permite, Señor, que un día llegue yo a unirme a los ángeles para adorarte, alabarte y bendecirte en tu morada celestial.” Amen

Sometimes we get easily caught up in the worries of the day and forget that God's love surrounds us, but our guardian angels help us remember that he is always present to us and offers us exactly what we need.

Thus, remembering the blessings that God has given you - like that of your guardian angel - helps you to have more confidence in the Lord and not to doubt your love when things do not turn out as you want. In addition, they help us all to be a little more "like children" (Matthew 18, 3), that is, to trust that God cares for us, to seek his will and give thanks for his mercy.

This is something you can check right now. Think about the several months of this year and see if you can remember a specific moment in which you felt that God has helped you in something difficult. Try to remember what happened and how you felt the help of the Lord. Then, let this memory make you convince yourself that your heavenly Father cares deeply about you, because he does it!
