Un evangelio, dos lecciones

Lc 9, 46-50

Un día, surgió entre los discípulos una discusión sobre quién era el más grande de ellos. Dándose cuenta Jesús de lo que estaban discutiendo, tomó a un niño, lo puso junto a sí y les dijo: "El que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe también al que me ha enviado. En realidad el más pequeño entre todos ustedes, ése es el más grande".

Entonces, Juan le dijo: "Maestro, vimos a uno que estaba expulsando a los demonios en tu nombre; pero se lo prohibimos, porque no anda con nosotros". Pero Jesús respondió: "No se lo prohiban, pues el que no está contra ustedes, está en favor de ustedes".

An argument arose among the disciples
about which of them was the greatest. 
Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child
and placed it by his side and said to them,
"Whoever receives this child in my name receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
For the one who is least among all of you
is the one who is the greatest."

Then John said in reply, 
"Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name 
and we tried to prevent him
because he does not follow in our company."
Jesus said to him, 
"Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you."

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es de Lucas pero nosotros ya habiamos visto estas mismas lecturas en el evangelio de marcos de los dos ultimos domingos.

Pero aqui el evangelista, inteligentemente, junta las dos en un intento o en un mensaje para aquellos que buscan escalar en la "escala social evangelica".

En nuestra mente a veces tan humana pensamos que si hacemos mas en la Parroquia, deberiamos "ser mas importante". Basta que nos den cualquier pequeño cargo para que andemos ya mostrando nuestro orgullos por aqui y por alla.. y no se diga nada si la Diocesis decide llevarnos a otro nivel... en ese caso ya ni volveremos a ver a nuestros parroquianos y alla iremos por la vida, mostrando nuestras desverguenzas.

Les tengo una noticia... esto no funciona asi para Jesus. Y lo dice clarito aca... el mas grande, debe hacerse el mas pequeño; los titulos y obligaciones nos deberian hacer mas accesibles, mas amables, mas al servicio... 

"Haganse como uno de estos pequeños porque el mas pequeño es el mas grande" nos quiere decir Jesus.

Y despues hace una segunda distincion... no rechacen al distinto, no rechacen al hermano que "parece" no estar de acuerdo con lo que nosotros creemos. no maltratemos al "diferente" o "distinto" porque "el que no esta contra ustedes, esta con ustedes" o, mas extendido del evangelio de ayer de Marcos... "No se lo prohíban, porque no hay ninguno que haga milagros en mi nombre, que luego sea capaz de hablar mal de mí. Todo aquel que no está contra nosotros, está a nuestro favor"

Entonces amigos.. la escala social evangelizadora de Jesus comienza por la oracion y sigue por el servicio y la aceptacion del otro como mi hermano tambien.

Hoy se celebra Santa Teresa de Jesus, patrona de las misiones. Parece contradictorio que una santa que vivió su vida encerrada en la clausura de un convento pueda ser patrona de las misiones, un modo de vida y acción que suponen una vida llena de actividad externa. Así lo hemos contrapuesto muchas veces en la Iglesia: la vida de contemplación y la vida de acción, cuando son modelos de vida absolutamente complementarios, no sólo en el seno de la Iglesia en el que hay vocaciones a un vida consagrada a la oración y otras a la acción, sino en el propio seno de la vida del cristiano, donde el compromiso por el anuncio del Evangelio ha de balancearse siempre con una intensa vida de oración como expresión de la cercanía con el Maestro (nadie da lo que no tiene). Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús dedicó su vida a la oración por la Iglesia y las misiones, y a través de esa oración esforzada se convirtió en referente de amor y entrega por la misión evangelizadora de la Iglesia.

“Señor Jesús, enséñame a ser sencillo. Ayúdame a no desear el poder del dinero ni ser importante, sino más bien servir con amor y humildad.” Amen

Today's gospel is from Luke but we have already seen these same readings in the gospel of frames of the last two Sundays.

But here the evangelist, intelligently, joins the two in an attempt or in a message for those who seek to climb the "evangelic social scale".

In our mind, sometimes so human, we think that if we do more in the Parish, we should "be more important". It is enough that they give us any small charge so that we can walk and show our pride here and there ... and do not say anything if the Diocese decides to take us to another level ... in that case we will not see our parishioners anymore. we will go through life, showing our shamelessness.

I have a news ... this does not work for Jesus. And he says it clearly here ... the bigger one, the smaller one must be made; the titles and obligations should make us more accessible, more friendly, more at service ...

"Become like one of these little ones because the smallest is the greatest" Jesus wants to tell us.

And then make a second distinction ... do not reject the different, do not reject the brother who "seems" not to agree with what we believe. do not mistreat the "different" or "different" because "he who is not against you, is with you" or, more widespread of the Gospel of Mark yesterday ... "Do not forbid it, because there is no one who does miracles in my name, which is then able to speak ill of me, everyone who is not against us is in our favor "

Then friends ... the evangelizing social scale of Jesus begins with prayer and follows through the service and acceptance of the other as my brother also.

Today, Saint Teresa of Jesus, patron saint of missions, is celebrated. It seems contradictory that a saint who lived her life locked in the cloister of a convent could be the patron of the missions, a way of life and action that supposes a life full of external activity. This is what we have often opposed in the Church: the life of contemplation and the life of action, when they are absolutely complementary models of life, not only in the heart of the Church in which there are vocations to a life consecrated to prayer and other to action, but in the heart of the life of the Christian, where the commitment for the proclamation of the Gospel must always be balanced with an intense life of prayer as an expression of closeness with the Master (no one gives what he does not have). Saint Therese of the Child Jesus dedicated her life to prayer for the Church and the missions, and through that effortful prayer she became a reference of love and dedication for the evangelizing mission of the Church.

"Lord Jesus, teach me to be simple. Help me not to desire the power of money or be important, but rather to serve with love and humility. "Amen
