Fe & pecado

Lc 17, 1-6

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "No es posible evitar que existan ocasiones de pecado, pero ¡ay de aquel que las provoca! Más le valdría ser arrojado al mar con una piedra de molino sujeta al cuello, que ser ocasión de pecado para la gente sencilla. Tengan, pues, cuidado.

Si tu hermano te ofende, trata de corregirlo; y si se arrepiente, perdónalo. Y si te ofende siete veces al día, y siete veces viene a ti para decirte que se arrepiente, perdónalo".

Los apóstoles dijeron entonces al Señor: "Auméntanos la fe". El Señor les contestó: "Si tuvieran fe, aunque fuera tan pequeña como una semilla de mostaza, podrían decirle a ese árbol frondoso: 'Arráncate de raíz y plántate en el mar', y los obedecería".

"Things that cause sin will inevitably occur,
but woe to the one through whom they occur.
It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck
and he be thrown into the sea
than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
Be on your guard!
If your brother sins, rebuke him;
and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he wrongs you seven times in one day 
and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,'
you should forgive him."

And the Apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."
The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry tree,
'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."

Meditacion:

Bueno comenzamos la semana con este evangelio un poco condensado... demasiadas ideas y cosas en poco espacio.

Hay un par de cosas que debemos meditar primero.... una, que pecar es algo que no podemos evitar, especialmente, en un mundo tan secular, materialista e individualista como el que vivimos.

"Ojo con provocar pecado en otra persona" nos dice Jesus "mas vale colgarse una piedra de molino que ser ocasion de pecado.. para la gente sencilla" Y aca tenemos un punto importante.. Jesus se referia a la gente sin una fe profunda, impresionable, que, naturalmente, tiende a creer sin mucho conocimiento, esa fe de pueblo como decimos a veces.

Muchas personas son engañadas en su fe por otras cegadas por su soberbia o su orgullo... mucho cuidado a quien siguen!, mucho cuidado con quien se forman en la fe! 

Luego sigue esta parte sobre ofensa y fe... Los apostoles piden fe y sin duda, sin fe pecar es mucho mas facil porque perdemos ese norte verdadero que el Dios y nos alejamos de El.

Jesus tambien manda a perdonar sin limite, pero claro, sin fe el perdon es complicado tambien.

Corregir al hermano no es tarea fácil; además todos somos pecadores. Sólo cuando corregimos con una gran dosis de humildad y cariño hay alguna probabilidad de éxito; no hay que confundir corrección con reproche agresivo. Y el pedón indefinido (¡hasta siete veces en un día a la misma persona!) implica generosidad, enorme amplitud de corazón, la profunda y gozosa experiencia de haber sido uno mismo perdonado por el Padre. Sin ejercicio de perdón y de corrección fraterna una comunidad no crece.

El dicho de Jesús referente al poder de la fe debe de haber sido muy repetido en la iglesia primitiva; en el evangelio de Mateo lo encontramos hasta dos veces (17,20 y 21,21). En nuestro contexto, parece que el evangelista habla de la necesidad de fe para que sean posibles las prácticas de fraternidad a que acaba de exhortar: corrección y perdón (en vez de indiferencia y rencor). La fe debe de equivaler aquí a una honda identificación con los ideales de Jesús y una firmeza tan fuerte en las propias convicciones, que a uno le den confianza en que puede realizar obras grandes, cooperar así a la construcción de la comunidad. ¡Pues, vamos allá! 

“Señor Jesús, concédeme la gracia de perdonar a quienes me han ofendido y enséñame a no hacer mal uso de mi libertad en mi caminar contigo.” Amen

Many people are deceived in their faith by others blinded by their arrogance or their pride ... be very careful who they follow !, be very careful with whom they form in faith!

Then follows this part about offense and faith ... The apostles ask for faith and without doubt, without faith sin is much easier because we lose that true north than God and we distance ourselves from Him.

Jesus also commands forgiveness without limits, but of course, without faith, forgiveness is complicated as well.

Correcting the brother is not an easy task; besides we are all sinners. Only when we correct with a large dose of humility and affection is there any chance of success; do not confuse correction with aggressive reproach. And the indefinite pedon (up to seven times in a day to the same person!) Implies generosity, enormous breadth of heart, the deep and joyful experience of having been oneself forgiven by the Father. Without exercise of forgiveness and fraternal correction a community does not grow.

The saying of Jesus concerning the power of faith must have been repeated in the early church; in the Gospel of Matthew we find it twice (17,20 and 21.21). In our context, it seems that the evangelist speaks of the need for faith so that the practices of brotherhood he has just exhorted are possible: correction and forgiveness (instead of indifference and resentment). Faith must here amount to a deep identification with the ideals of Jesus and a firmness so strong in one's own convictions, that one be given confidence that one can perform great works, thus cooperate in the construction of the community.
