Lc 21, 20-28
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Cuando vean a Jerusalén sitiada por un ejército, sepan que se aproxima su destrucción. Entonces, los que estén en Judea, que huyan a los montes; los que estén en la ciudad, que se alejen de ella; los que estén en el campo, que no vuelvan a la ciudad; porque esos días serán de castigo para que se cumpla todo lo que está escrito.
¡Pobres de las que estén embarazadas y de las que estén criando en aquellos días! Porque vendrá una gran calamidad sobre el país y el castigo de Dios se descargará contra este pueblo. Caerán al filo de la espada, serán llevados cautivos a todas las naciones y Jerusalén será pisoteada por los paganos, hasta que se cumpla el plazo que Dios les ha señalado.
Habrá señales prodigiosas en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas. En la tierra las naciones se llenarán de angustia y de miedo por el estruendo de las olas del mar; la gente se morirá de terror y de angustiosa espera por las cosas que vendrán sobre el mundo, pues hasta las estrellas se bambolearán. Entonces verán venir al Hijo del hombre en una nube, con gran poder y majestad. Cuando estas cosas comiencen a suceder, pongan atención y levanten la cabeza, porque se acerca la hora de su liberación''.

know that its desolation is at hand.
Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.
Let those within the city escape from it,
and let those in the countryside not enter the city,
for these days are the time of punishment
when all the Scriptures are fulfilled.
Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days,
for a terrible calamity will come upon the earth
and a wrathful judgment upon this people.
They will fall by the edge of the sword
and be taken as captives to all the Gentiles;
and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles
until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
"There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay,
perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
People will die of fright
in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
But when these signs begin to happen,
stand erect and raise your heads
because your redemption is at hand."

Meditacion:
Para los que como yo ya están un poco cansados de lo apocaliptico que suena el evangelio diario en estos dias, les comento que en pocos dias, una vez entrado al Adviento, el evangelio se pondra un poco mas suave.
Hoy contemplamos este pasage donde Jesus profetiza la destruccion de Jerusalen, cosa que sucedio en el año 70 despues de Cristo. La ciudad fue invadida y destruida, el pueblo judio llevado como esclavo y el templo destruido; nunca mas fue vuelto a reconstruir.
Cuando leemos este pasaje y vemos la destruccion, el dolor y la guerra que sucederan al final de los tiempos, no podemos dejar de inquietarnos.
Logicamente, nos inquieta el hecho de nuestros seres queridos y, practicamente, toda nuestra realidad arrasada.
Pero el evangelio termina con una frase esperanzadora "Cuando estas cosas comiencen a suceder, pongan atención y levanten la cabeza, porque se acerca la hora de su liberación''. O sea que Dios nos deja la esperanza de la liberacion de nuestros pecados y la vida eterna en el cielo.
Visto este pasaje sin fe, suena dificil que hacerlo carne en nuestra vida diaria pero visto a los ojos de la fe, sabemos que, cumpliendo con nuestras practicas espirituales y creciendo en nuestro conocimiento, nada debemos temer.
Y creo este es el punto del evangelio de hoy. No temamos, es mas, alegremonos por la venida final de nuestro Salvador que nadie sabe cuando sera, pero que vendra, eso es seguro.
Mientras tanto, oracion, mision y vivir esta vida con la alegria serena de nuestra salvacion final.
"¡Maranatha! ¡Ven Señor Jesús! Te esperamos con los brazos abiertos, porque sabemos que vendrás a buscar a tus fieles para llevarlos contigo al cielo.” Amen

For those who like me are already a little tired of the apocalyptic that the daily gospel sounds in these days, I tell you that in a few days, once entered into Advent, the gospel will get a little softer.
Today we contemplate this passage where Jesus prophesies the destruction of Jerusalem, something that happened in the year 70 after Christ. The city was invaded and destroyed, the Jewish people taken as a slave and the temple destroyed; it was never rebuilt again.
When we read this passage and see the destruction, pain and war that will happen at the end of time, we can not stop worrying.
Logically, we are disturbed by the fact of our loved ones and, practically, all our devastated reality.
But the gospel ends with a hopeful phrase "When these things begin to happen, pay attention and lift up your head, because the hour of your deliverance is coming." So God leaves us hope for the release of our sins and the eternal life in heaven.
Seen this passage without faith, it sounds difficult to make flesh in our daily life but seen in the eyes of faith, we know that, fulfilling our spiritual practices and growing in our knowledge, we should fear nothing.
And I believe this is the point of today's gospel. Do not fear, it is more, let us be happy for the final coming of our Savior that nobody knows when it will be, but that it will come, that is for sure.
Meanwhile, prayer, mission and live this life with the serene joy of our final salvation.
"Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus! We are waiting for you with open arms, because we know that you will come to look for your faithful ones to take them with you to heaven."
