Mc 13, 24-32

GospelMT 1:18-25
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
“Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins.”
All this took place to fulfill
what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,
which means “God is with us.”
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home.
He had no relations with her until she bore a son,
and he named him Jesus.

Meditacion:
Amen

In today's reading, Jose changes his life.
Without doubt or in his imagination, never saw or thought to be the father of the Savior of the World .. his plans with Maria were much more modest and common.
And yet, Jose only did what he thought and understood God wanted from Him.
I do not grumble, I do not cry out to God because his wife was pregnant and his life was not what He had imagined ... I only obey God's will.
And this is the lesson we should learn today, a week from Christmas. The value of acceptance and humility.
Today we have the opportunity to imitate Joseph's confident attitude of obedience. For example, if you intend to make a critical or denigrating statement about someone who is absent, but your conscience tells you not to and decides not to say anything, it is the Lord, who asks you not to get carried away by the murmuring. Or maybe you have not wanted to call a friend to apologize for something you did, but you feel the impulse to make that call inside yourself; It is the Lord, who asks you not to let yourself be dominated by inaction. Perhaps you are at Mass and the thought arises in your mind that God wants you to spend a little more time in prayer; It is God who asks you to decide to lead a more constant life of prayer.
Of course, you can not always know what will be the result when you decide to follow those inspirations of God and put them into practice, and often the things that happen are not what we expected. José knows it well! But, if we follow in his footsteps, we will see that when we dedicate ourselves to trust in the Lord and accept his guidance, life can be difficult, but it is always satisfying.
Maybe one never knows what God is going to accomplish through one; but we can be certain that, if we do not follow Joseph's example, we probably will not be able to experience the joy and satisfaction he had. Obedience to God does not have to be complicated, nor is it supposed to be a heavy burden; because it is, in fact, our duty.
"Heavenly Father, teach me to be like Joseph, to put myself in your hands and learn to do your will." Amen
