La anunciacion

Lc 1, 26-38

En aquel tiempo, el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una ciudad de Galilea, llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con un varón de la estirpe de David, llamado José. La virgen se llamaba María.

Entró el ángel a donde ella estaba y le dijo: "Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo". Al oír estas palabras, ella se preocupó mucho y se preguntaba qué querría decir semejante saludo.

El ángel le dijo: "No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia ante Dios. Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo; el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre, y él reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reinado no tendrá fin".

María le dijo entonces al ángel: "¿Cómo podrá ser esto, puesto que yo permanezco virgen?" El ángel le contestó: "El Espíritu Santo descenderá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra. Por eso, el Santo, que va a nacer de ti, será llamado Hijo de Dios. Ahí tienes a tu parienta Isabel, que a pesar de su vejez, ha concebido un hijo y ya va en el sexto mes la que llamaban estéril, porque no hay nada imposible para Dios". María contestó: "Yo soy la esclava del Señor; cúmplase en mí lo que me has dicho". Y el ángel se retiró de su presencia.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin's name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
"Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel,
"How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.

Meditacion:

Es difícil no conmoverse ante la sencillez de la entrega por parte de Maria al ángel.

Maria solo hace una pregunta respecto a como iba a ser posible ese milagro y una vez que el angel le explica, ya no hay dudas en su corazon o en su mente.

Necesitariamos un angel hoy que bajara a nosotros y nos tocara con un mensaje similar? Estariamos nosotros dispuestos a dejarnos llevar por el mensaje y, por sobre todas las cosas, confiar en Dios?

Todos sabemos que fue lo que sucedio luego con Maria... no la tuvo facil con San Jose e hizo falta una segunda intervencion divina para que las cosas se encauzaran entre ellos.

La aceptacion de Maria nos sigue mostrando hoy, a tantos anos de lo ocurrido, como Dios sigue presente en nuestra vida a traves de la accion del Espiritu Santo. 

Todos hemos sido escogidos por Dios para realizar su obra. 

Ser escogido por Dios significa que el Todopoderoso tiene un plan y una finalidad para tu vida; es decir, que eres valioso y también lo es tu misión en esta vida. Cada uno de nosotros, dice el Papa Francisco, “es una misión, planeada por el Padre para reflejar y personificar… el Evangelio” (La llamada a la santidad, 19).

Hoy, al celebrar la singular función que tuvo la Virgen María en el designio divino, pídele a Dios que te permita ver cuán especial eres para él y te muestre el amor inimaginable con que te ha amado desde la creación del mundo.

“Santa María, Madre de Dios, ruega por mí para que yo comprenda que mi Padre también me ha escogido a mí para algo especial.” Amen

It is difficult not to be moved by the simplicity of the delivery by Mary to the angel.

Maria just asks a question about how that miracle was going to be possible and once the angel explains it, there are no longer doubts in her heart or in her mind.

Would we need an angel today to come down to us and touch us with a similar message? Would we be willing to let ourselves be carried away by the message and, above all, trust in God?

We all know what happened next with Maria ... he did not have it easy with San Jose and it took a second divine intervention for things to be channeled between them.

The acceptance of Mary continues to show us today, so many years of what happened, how God is still present in our lives through the action of the Holy Spirit.

We have all been chosen by God to carry out his work.

Being chosen by God means that the Almighty has a plan and purpose for your life; that is, you are valuable and so is your mission in this life. Each of us, says Pope Francis, "is a mission, planned by the Father to reflect and personify ... the Gospel" (The call to holiness, 19).

Today, as we celebrate the unique role of the Virgin Mary in divine design, ask God to let you see how special you are for him and show you the unimaginable love with which he has loved you since the creation of the world.

"Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me so that I understand that my Father has also chosen me for something special." Amen
