Cuaresma

Mt 6, 1-6. 16-18

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Tengan cuidado de no practicar sus obras de piedad delante de los hombres para que los vean. De lo contrario, no tendrán recompensa con su Padre celestial.

Por lo tanto, cuando des limosna, no lo anuncies con trompeta, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y por las calles, para que los alaben los hombres. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando des limosna, que no sepa tu mano izquierda lo que hace la derecha, para que tu limosna quede en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará.

Cuando ustedes hagan oración, no sean como los hipócritas, a quienes les gusta orar de pie en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las plazas, para que los vea la gente. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando vayas a orar, entra en tu cuarto, cierra la puerta y ora ante tu Padre, que está allí, en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará.

Cuando ustedes ayunen, no pongan cara triste, como esos hipócritas que descuidan la apariencia de su rostro, para que la gente note que están ayunando. Yo les aseguro que ya recibieron su recompensa. Tú, en cambio, cuando ayunes, perfúmate la cabeza y lávate la cara, para que no sepa la gente que estás ayunando, sino tu Padre, que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve lo secreto, te recompensará''.

1 'Be careful not to parade your uprightness in public to attract attention; otherwise you will lose all reward from your Father in heaven.

2 So when you give alms, do not have it trumpeted before you; this is what the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win human admiration. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward.

3 But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing;

4 your almsgiving must be secret, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.

5 'And when you pray, do not imitate the hypocrites: they love to say their prayers standing up in the synagogues and at the street corners for people to see them. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward.

6 But when you pray, go to your private room, shut yourself in, and so pray to your Father who is in that secret place, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.

16 'When you are fasting, do not put on a gloomy look as the hypocrites do: they go about looking unsightly to let people know they are fasting. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward.

17 But when you fast, put scent on your head and wash your face,

18 so that no one will know you are fasting except your Father who sees all that is done in secret; and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.

Meditacion:

Hoy comenzamos tiempo de cuaresma. Es un tiempo de reflexion, de conversion, de arrepentimiento y de retorno a nuestras fuentes naturales, al amor de Dios.

Es un tiempo de hacer un alto en nuestra vida diaria y reflexionar sobre hacia donde vamos, iniciar cambios que nos ayuden a madurar en nuestra fe catolica y abandonar vicios antiguos.

Yo recuerdo cuando pequeno la cuaresma se vivia con un sentido mas de penitencia y dolor por la muerte de Jesus, hoy, ese concepto ha evolucionado hacia un sentido mas de renovacion, de reflexion y de retorno.

Es por eso que en esta cuaresma es realmente muy importante la confesion. Debemos ir a confesarnos, debemos abandonar esos viejos vicios, por los proximos 40 dias debemos trabajar, primariamente, nuestra madurez espiritual.

Y como lo haremos? de la mano de la oracion, el ayuno y la abstinencia.

Debemos disciplinar nuestro cuerpo como una forma de oracion. No es necesario pasar hambre pero si podemos, por ejemplo, dejar de tomar tanto cafe o no comer chocolate o algo que nos guste.

No se piden sacrificios que pongan en riesgo la salud de las personas, son pequenas cosas que nos ayuden a crear una disciplina de oracion y abstinencia. Lo otro es la oracion, cada dia, dedicar unos minutos a orar en familia o en privado; leer un pasaje de la biblia; si no tienen una, seguro tienen un telefono donde pueden surfear y buscar algo online.

Y por ultimo, no se olviden que hoy se va a la Iglesia; en el signo del sacerdote de marcarnos en la frente con ceniza es un recordatorio que al final de nuestra vida solo somos polvo, de alli venimos y alli iremos.

Sientanse libres de pasar esta reflexion a quien quieran, es otra manera de difundir nuestros conocimientos catolicos. 

“Señor y Salvador mío, en esta Cuaresma, me comprometo a renovar mi entrega a ti, para recibir la vida nueva que tú nos prometiste.” Amen

Today we begin the Lenten season. It is a time of reflection, of conversion, of repentance and of returning to our natural sources, to the love of God.

It is a time to stop in our daily lives and reflect on where we are going, initiate changes that will help us to mature in our Catholic faith and abandon old vices.

I remember when little Lent lived with a more sense of penance and pain for the death of Jesus, today, that concept has evolved towards a more sense of renewal, reflection and return.

That is why in this Lent confession is really very important. We must go to confession, we must abandon those old vices, for the next 40 days we must work, primarily, our spiritual maturity.

And how will we do it? by the hand of prayer, fasting and abstinence.

We must discipline our body as a form of prayer. It is not necessary to go hungry but we can, for example, stop drinking so much coffee or not eat chocolate or something that we like.

We do not ask for sacrifices that put people's health at risk, they are small things that help us create a discipline of prayer and abstinence. The other is prayer, every day, dedicate a few minutes to pray as a family or in private; read a passage from the bible; if they do not have one, they sure have a phone where they can surf and search for something online.

And finally, do not forget that today you are going to the Church; in the sign of the priest to mark us on the forehead with ashes is a reminder that at the end of our life we are only dust, from there we come and go there.
