Lc 11, 29-32

En aquel tiempo, la multitud se apiñaba alrededor de Jesús y comenzó a decirles: "La gente de este tiempo es una gente perversa. Pide una señal, pero no se le dará más señal que la de Jonás. Pues así como Jonás fue una señal para los habitantes de Nínive, lo mismo será el Hijo del hombre para la gente de este tiempo.

Cuando sean juzgados los hombres de este tiempo, la reina del sur se levantará el día del juicio para condenarlos, porque ella vino desde los últimos rincones de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón, y aquí hay uno que es más que Salomón.

Cuando sea juzgada la gente de este tiempo, los hombres de Nínive se levantarán el día del juicio para condenarla, porque ellos se convirtieron con la predicación de Jonás, y aquí hay uno que es más que Jonás".

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them,
"This generation is an evil generation;
it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it,
except the sign of Jonah. 
Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites,
so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
At the judgment 
the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation 
and she will condemn them,
because she came from the ends of the earth
to hear the wisdom of Solomon,
and there is something greater than Solomon here. 
At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation
and condemn it,
because at the preaching of Jonah they repented,
and there is something greater than Jonah here."

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy es uno de esos que se entiende mejor si se lee primero la primera lectura en la cual el profeta Jonas es mandado por Dios a la ciudad de Ninive para decirles que si no se arrepentian y cambiaban de vida, la ciudad seria destruida. Los habitantes de la ciudad, incluido su Rey, creyeron y se arrepintieron y Dios los perdono.

Por eso Jesus dice "Pues así como Jonás fue una señal para los habitantes de Nínive, lo mismo será el Hijo del hombre para la gente de este tiempo".

Nosotros tambien somos asi, buscamos signos, milagros en nuestras vidas sin ver la presencia real de Jesus entre nosotros.

Y luego hace dos advertencias respecto a cuando "la gente de este tiempo" sea juzgada y tambien nos toca esto porque asi como "la reina del Sur" (se refiere a la Reina de Saba que visito a Salomon para conocerlo) y "los habitantes de Ninive" se conviertieron con solo la palabra del profeta Jonas y el Rey Salomon, nosotros (y los judios de ese tiempo) tenemos acceso directo al Hijo de Dios encarnado y que pago nuestros pecados, muriendo en la cruz.

En otras palabras, dejemonos de andar buscando razones y arrepintamonos, confesemos nuestros pecados y volvamos al amor del Padre.

Dejemos de tratar de justificar nuestras acciones.

La próxima vez que te des cuenta de que quieres justificar tus acciones, deja tu orgullo de lado y corre hacia tu Padre. No permitas que la culpa te abrume, pero tampoco trates de culpar a otro ni de justificarte. Simplemente dile a Dios: “Padre, sé que he pecado y me arrepiento. Te pido perdón.” Recuerda que Dios se deleita cuando le pides perdón, no porque quiera condenarte ni hacerte sentir más culpable, sino porque está dispuesto a perdonarte y estrecharte en sus brazos. Él nunca te alejará de su presencia.

“Gracias, Padre, porque sé que me perdonas y me abrazas con tu misericordia. Lléname de tu gracia, Señor, para acudir a ti cada vez que tropiece y caiga.” Amen

Let's stop trying to justify our actions.

The next time you realize that you want to justify your actions, leave your pride aside and run to your Father. Do not let guilt overwhelm you, but do not try to blame another or justify yourself. Simply tell God: "Father, I know that I have sinned and I repent. I apologize. "Remember that God delights when you ask for forgiveness, not because he wants to condemn you or make you feel more guilty, but because he is willing to forgive you and hold you in his arms. He will never take you away from his presence.
