Reconciliate primero

Mt 5, 20-26

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Les aseguro que si su justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, ciertamente no entrarán ustedes en el Reino de los cielos.

Han oído que se dijo a los antiguos: No matarás y el que mate será llevado ante el tribunal. Pero yo les digo: Todo el que se enoje con su hermano, será llevado también ante el tribunal; el que insulte a su hermano, será llevado ante el tribunal supremo, y el que lo desprecie, será llevado al fuego del lugar de castigo.

Por lo tanto, si cuando vas a poner tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene alguna queja contra ti, deja tu ofrenda junto al altar y ve primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y vuelve luego a presentar tu ofrenda.

Arréglate pronto con tu adversario, mientras vas con él por el camino; no sea que te entregue al juez, el juez al policía y te metan a la cárcel. Te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último centavo".

GospelMT 5:20-26

Jesus said to his disciples: 
"I tell you, 
unless your righteousness surpasses that
of the scribes and Pharisees,
you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.

"You have heard that it was said to your ancestors,
You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.
But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother
will be liable to judgment,
and whoever says to his brother, Raqa, 
will be answerable to the Sanhedrin,
and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna.
Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar,
and there recall that your brother
has anything against you,
leave your gift there at the altar,
go first and be reconciled with your brother,
and then come and offer your gift.
Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court.
Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge,
and the judge will hand you over to the guard,
and you will be thrown into prison.
Amen, I say to you,
you will not be released until you have paid the last penny."

Meditacion:

El evangelio de hoy nos describe un Jesus inusualmente severo, que nos advierte sobre la necesidad del perdon y la aceptacion.

Hay algo muy interesante en lo que dice. Fijense "Les aseguro que si su justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, ciertamente no entrarán ustedes en el Reino de los cielos". Los escribas y fariseos eran lo mejor de la sociedad judia, los que cumplian con todos los mandamientos y leyes.

Diriamos hoy dia que eran los clerigos de ese tiempo.

Pero Jesus nos pide ser mas que ellos y nos pide un compromiso mayor que el que esta escrito en los mandamientos.

Jesus nos esta pidiendo una real conversion de corazon donde trates a tu vecino/amigo/compañero de trabajo como te gustaria que te trataran a ti.

Jesus nos pide que amemos a toda la creacion como nos amamos a nosotros mismos y a nuestro Dios.

Y lo hace con mucha severidad, advirtiendo que las ofrendas son muy lindas pero no tienen ningun valor si estas enojado con alguien.

Una vez mas vemos que son las acciones que hacemos para nuestro projimo y no las oraciones declamadas o los gestos "para los demas" los importantes.

Debemos leer mucho mas el sermon de la montaña para comprender que los mandamientos son meramente el "piso", lo minimo y es el sermon el que nos enseñara a ser cada dia mejores.

“Gracias, Espíritu Santo, por habitar en mi corazón. Gracias por tu presencia en mí para que yo sepa depender de ti, de tu fortaleza y tu gracia para ser un cristiano fiel y obediente.” Amen

Today's Gospel describes an unusually severe Jesus, who warns us about the need for forgiveness and acceptance.

There is something very interesting in what he says. Notice "I assure you that if your justice is not greater than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you certainly will not enter the Kingdom of heaven." The scribes and Pharisees were the best of Jewish society, those who complied with all the commandments and laws.

We would say today that they were the clerics of that time.

But Jesus asks us to be more than them and asks us for a commitment greater than that which is written in the commandments.

Jesus is asking us for a real conversion of heart where you treat your neighbor / friend / coworker as you would like them to treat you.

Jesus asks us to love all creation as we love ourselves and our God.

And he does it very severely, warning that the offerings are very nice but they have no value if you are angry with someone.

Once again we see that it is the actions we do for our neighbor and not the declaimed prayers or gestures "for others" the important ones.

We should read much more the sermon of the mountain to understand that the commandments are merely the "floor", the minimum and it is the sermon that will teach us to be better every day.

"Thank you, Holy Spirit, for dwelling in my heart. Thank you for your presence in me so that I can depend on you, your strength and your grace to be a faithful and obedient Christian. "Amen
