Piedras...

Jn 8, 51-59

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: “Yo les aseguro: el que es fiel a mis palabras no morirá para siempre”.

Los judíos le dijeron: “Ahora ya no nos cabe duda de que estás endemoniado. Porque Abraham murió y los profetas también murieron, y tú dices: ‘El que es fiel a mis palabras no morirá para siempre’. ¿Acaso eres tú más que nuestro padre Abraham, el cual murió? Los profetas también murieron. ¿Quién pretendes ser tú?”

Contestó Jesús: “Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada. El que me glorifica es mi Padre, aquel de quien ustedes dicen: ‘Es nuestro Dios’, aunque no lo conocen. Yo, en cambio, sí lo conozco; y si dijera que no lo conozco, sería tan mentiroso como ustedes. Pero yo lo conozco y soy fiel a su palabra. Abraham, el padre de ustedes, se regocijaba con el pensamiento de verme; me vio y se alegró por ello”.

Los judíos le replicaron: “No tienes ni cincuenta años, ¿y has visto a Abraham?” Les respondió Jesús: “Yo les aseguro que desde antes que naciera Abraham, Yo Soy”.

Entonces recogieron piedras para arrojárselas, pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del templo.

GospelJN 8:51-59

Jesus said to the Jews:
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever keeps my word will never see death." 
So the Jews said to him,
"Now we are sure that you are possessed.
Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say,
'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.'
Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? 
Or the prophets, who died?
Who do you make yourself out to be?" 
Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing;
but it is my Father who glorifies me,
of whom you say, 'He is our God.'
You do not know him, but I know him.
And if I should say that I do not know him,
I would be like you a liar.
But I do know him and I keep his word. 
Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day;
he saw it and was glad." 
So the Jews said to him,
"You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?"
Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
before Abraham came to be, I AM."
So they picked up stones to throw at him;
but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.

Meditacion:

En estos ultimos dias de Cuaresma desde la Parroquia estamos llevando a cabo una campaña vocacional en Latinoamerica. Buscamos que mas hombres y mujeres reconozcan el llamado vocacional y decidan seguir a Jesus desde el ejercicio del sacerdocio o el diaconado.

En general, hemos recibido muchas preguntas, hay muchas ganas de entregarse a Jesus  pero tambien han aparecido algunos que nos insultaron profundamente y otros que si hubieran podido, nos habrian apedreado.

El mensaje de Jesus sigue siendo revolucionario, incomodo y dificil de aceptar para algunos, a 2000 años de su muerte y resurreccion.

Jesus comprendia a los que querian perseguirlo y asesinarlo; su discurso les cambiaba la vida, las creencias y, mas importante, la forma de ver la vida de cada dia.

Con Jesus el pecado era evidente, no habia forma de ocultarlo; como cuando estamos ante el sagrario y nos sentimos expuestos.

Jesus nombra a Abraham. Abrahán es modelo del creyente porque su fe está vivificada por la caridad y por la humildad. Cuando acoge hospitalariamente a los misteriosos personajes (el mismo Dios) en el encinar de Mambré, por ejemplo, su “regateo” con Dios intercediendo a favor de las ciudades que estaban llenas de pecadores, el ponerse en segundo plano ante su sobrino Lot, dejándole elegir primero, dándole la tierra más fértil….

Jesús se revela como el Hijo de Dios, por eso osa decirles a los judíos que él es anterior a Abraham.

Reconocer a Jesús como el Señor, como el Hijo de Dios, es una de las cosas que tenemos que pedirle al Espíritu de Dios que nos regale en esta Cuaresma. Mientras no reconozcamos a Jesús como el Señor, los cambios en nuestra vida no serán profundos. Seremos como los que oían a Cristo y cogían piedras para tirárselas. Nos hace mucha falta. Para ir hasta el final.

“Señor Jesús, muéstranos al Padre. Te rogamos que siempre seamos capaces de reconocer tu presencia en nuestra vida y siempre seamos fieles a tu voluntad.” Amen

In these last days of Lent from the Parish we are carrying out a vocational campaign in Latin America. We seek that more men and women recognize the vocational call and decide to follow Jesus from the exercise of the priesthood or the diaconate.

In general, we have received many questions, there is a lot of desire to give ourselves to Jesus but some people have also appeared who insulted us deeply and others who, if they could, would have stoned us.

The message of Jesus is still revolutionary, uncomfortable and difficult for some to accept, 2000 years after his death and resurrection.

Jesus understood those who wanted to persecute and kill him; his speech changed their lives, their beliefs and, more importantly, the way they see each day's life.

With Jesus, sin was evident, there was no way to hide it; as when we are before the tabernacle and we feel exposed.

Jesus names Abraham. Abraham is a model of the believer because his faith is enlivened by charity and humility. When he hospitably welcomes the mysterious characters (the same God) in the holm oak woods of Mambré, for example, his "bargaining" with God interceding in favor of the cities that were full of sinners, putting himself in the background before his nephew Lot, leaving him choose first, giving it the most fertile land ...

Jesus reveals himself as the Son of God, so he dares to tell the Jews that he is prior to Abraham.

Recognizing Jesus as the Lord, as the Son of God, is one of the things we have to ask of the Spirit of God that he gives us in this Lent. As long as we do not recognize Jesus as the Lord, the changes in our life will not be profound. We will be like those who heard Christ and picked up stones to throw at them. We really need it. To go to the end.

"Lord Jesus, show us the Father. We pray that we will always be able to recognize your presence in our life and always be faithful to your will. "Amen
