Jn 8, 21-30
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: “Yo me voy y ustedes me buscarán, pero morirán en su pecado. A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir”. Dijeron entonces los judíos: “¿Estará pensando en suicidarse y por eso nos dice: ‘A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden venir’?” Pero Jesús añadió: “Ustedes son de aquí abajo y yo soy de allá arriba; ustedes son de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo. Se lo acabo de decir: morirán en sus pecados, porque si no creen que Yo Soy, morirán en sus pecados”.
Los judíos le preguntaron: “Entonces ¿quién eres tú?” Jesús les respondió: “Precisamente eso que les estoy diciendo. Mucho es lo que tengo que decir de ustedes y mucho que condenar. El que me ha enviado es veraz y lo que yo le he oído decir a él es lo que digo al mundo”. Ellos no comprendieron que hablaba del Padre.
Jesús prosiguió: “Cuando hayan levantado al Hijo del hombre, entonces conocerán que Yo Soy y que no hago nada por mi cuenta; lo que el Padre me enseñó, eso digo. El que me envió está conmigo y no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que a él le agrada”. Después de decir estas palabras, muchos creyeron en él.
Los judíos le preguntaron: “Entonces ¿quién eres tú?” Jesús les respondió: “Precisamente eso que les estoy diciendo. Mucho es lo que tengo que decir de ustedes y mucho que condenar. "I am going away and you will look for me,
but you will die in your sin.
Where I am going you cannot come."
So the Jews said,
"He is not going to kill himself, is he,
because he said, 'Where I am going you cannot come'?"
He said to them, "You belong to what is below,
I belong to what is above.
You belong to this world,
but I do not belong to this world.
That is why I told you that you will die in your sins.
For if you do not believe that I AM,
you will die in your sins."
So they said to him, "Who are you?"
Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning.
I have much to say about you in condemnation.
But the one who sent me is true,
and what I heard from him I tell the world."
They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father.
So Jesus said to them,
"When you lift up the Son of Man,
then you will realize that I AM,
and that I do nothing on my own,
but I say only what the Father taught me.
The one who sent me is with me.
He has not left me alone,
because I always do what is pleasing to him."
Because he spoke this way, many came to believe in him.

Meditacion:
Esta semana veremos y leeremos mucho sobre Jesus en su "descubrimiento" respecto a quien es El.
Despues de 3 años de predicacion, Jesus esta terminando su mision, solo le queda ir a Jerusalen, adonde entrara en gloria el proximo domingo, domingo de ramos.
Pero antes de marchar aun tiene tiempo para advertirnos que nuestros propios pecados nos condenaran.
“Muchos creyeron en Él”. Qué fuerza en la Palabra de Jesús, que cambia la vida de muchas personas, dos mil años después de su presencia entre nosotros. Y no solo la de los santos. También la de muchos que andan en búsqueda de una vida mejor.
Con sus palabras y con sus obras, Jesús va revelando su identidad más profunda. Poco a poco, va diciendo que es el Hijo de Dios. Con sus palabras y con sus obras, los “signos”, como los llama el Evangelio joaneo.
Pero el pueblo hebreo se muestra poco dispuesto a cambiar. Le pasa a Jesús lo que le pasaba a Moisés en la primera lectura. A pesar de todo lo que ha hecho Dios por su pueblo, siempre hay descontentos, que arrastran a muchos detrás de ellos. Y se produjo el castigo divino, con las serpientes.
Moisés tiene que salir en defensa del pueblo, para evitar su extinción. Y levantar una serpiente de bronce, para que no murieran muchos en el camino. El nuevo Moisés, Jesús, también será levantado. Y, desde lo alto de la cruz, con su sufrimiento y su muerte, nos da la salvación.
Muy pronto vamos a contemplar la cruz, el Viernes Santo. Mirándola, adorándola, podemos recordar que sus heridas nos han curado. Y que hasta ese punto amó Dios al mundo, hasta entregarnos a su Hijo. Contempla la cruz, cuando te sientas cansado. Cristo te mira desde lo alto, para mostrarte el camino.
“Amado Señor, yo creo en ti y en ti confío. Me arrepiento de todas las veces que te he ofendido a ti y a mis semejantes. Perdóname mis pecados y lléname de tu amor, te lo ruego, porque sé que tú eres el único que puede librarme.” Amen

This week we will see and read a lot about Jesus in his "discovery" of who He is.
After 3 years of preaching, Jesus is finishing his mission, he only has to go to Jerusalem, where he will enter in glory next Sunday, Palm Sunday.
But before leaving, he still has time to warn us that our own sins will condemn us.
"Many believed in Him." What strength in the Word of Jesus, which changes the lives of many people, two thousand years after his presence among us. And not only that of the saints. Also that of many who are in search of a better life.
With his words and his works, Jesus reveals his deepest identity. Little by little, he goes on saying that he is the Son of God. With his words and with his works, the "signs", as the Joao Gospel calls them.
But the Hebrew people are unwilling to change. It happens to Jesus what happened to Moses in the first reading. In spite of all that God has done for his people, there are always discontents, which drag many behind them. And there was divine punishment, with the serpents.
Moses has to come out in defense of the people, to prevent their extinction. And raise a bronze serpent, so that not many died on the way. The new Moses, Jesus, will also be raised. And, from the top of the cross, with his suffering and death, he gives us salvation.
Very soon we are going to contemplate the cross, Good Friday. Looking at it, worshiping it, we can remember that its wounds have healed us. And that up to that point God loved the world, even giving us his Son. Contemplate the cross, when you feel tired. Christ looks at you from above, to show you the way.
"Beloved Lord, I believe in you and in you I trust. I regret all the times I have offended you and my fellow human beings. Forgive my sins and fill me with your love, I beg you, because I know that you are the only one who can deliver me. "Amen
