Jn 13, 16-20

En aquel tiempo, después de lavarles los pies a sus discípulos, Jesús les dijo:

"Yo les aseguro: el sirviente no es más importante que su amo, ni el enviado es mayor que quien lo envía. Si entienden esto y lo ponen en práctica, serán dichosos.

No lo digo por todos ustedes, porque yo sé a quiénes he escogido. Pero esto es para que se cumpla el pasaje de la Escritura, que dice: El que comparte mi pan me ha traicionado. Les digo esto ahora, antes de que suceda, para que, cuando suceda, crean que Yo soy.

Yo les aseguro: el que recibe al que yo envío, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me ha enviado".

When Jesus had washed the disciples' feet, he said to them:
"Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.

Meditacion:

Hoy meditamos con el Padre Adrian del Prado:

«Yo soy el Enviado», dice el Señor. Al terminar de lavar los pies de sus discípulos, cuando ya se cernía sobre Él la sombra de la traición, Jesús da un paso al frente y pronuncia unas palabras de confianza para con sus amigos que, en realidad, son una profunda y sincera confesión personal. Humanamente, todo parecía nublarse sin remedio. Aunque solo uno de ellos fuera a venderlo, casi todos iban a abandonarlo. Y la terrible idea de saberse ignorado por aquellos a quienes tanto quería podría haber torcido su discurso o violentado sus gestos. Pero no. Él volvió a llamarlos y a enviarlos. Volvió a confiar y a confiarse. Y, al hacerlo, se manifestó de nuevo ante el mundo como el Enviado del Padre convertido en Siervo de todos los hombres. En sus rodillas y en sus palabras el amor estaba ya venciendo la muerte.

¡Bendita proeza, vivir honradamente en medio de la guerra...! Y qué admirable sentido de la fraternidad, aquel que nos hace capaces de sentirnos enviados de paz cuando estamos sometidos a la humillación. En esto —especialmente en esto— jamás seremos los discípulos mejores que el Maestro, que subió a la cruz con el perdón colgando de los labios. Sin embargo, tampoco seremos nunca verdaderos discípulos los que no busquemos el modo de vivir reconciliados y entregados cuando arrecie el temporal. Al fin y al cabo, la cruz es la única forma cabal de existencia cristiana.

A veces pienso que aquí tiene nuestra fe su mayor piedra de tropiezo y, al tiempo, su piedra angular. Que la pasión —sufrimiento y donación; o mejor, donación en el sufrimiento— no es un misterio más de la vida de Cristo —importante, cómo no, pero uno más—, sino el misterio mismo de Cristo y del cristiano: su entraña y la nuestra. Asumir que creer es padecer de forma oblativa es lo más evidente de nuestra fe y quizá también lo más desusado. Nuestra riqueza más alta y nuestro olvido más común.

No por casualidad anuncia Pablo a Jesús, «y este crucificado», también a aquellos que, por tradición, educación y sensibilidad, debieran recibir con más facilidad su mensaje, su obra, su persona, su misterio. Nunca estamos tan sobradamente cerca del Crucificado como para abrazar su muerte con la Paz del Resucitado.

“Padre celestial, gracias por cumplir tus promesas. Ayúdame a ver cada aspecto de mi vida como parte de tu plan para mí.” Amen

And the terrible idea of ​​knowing that he was ignored by those he loved so much could have twisted his speech or violated his gestures. But no. He called them back and sent them. He trusted again and trusted. And, in doing so, he manifested himself again before the world as the Apostle of the Father converted into the Servant of all men. On his knees and in his words, love was already conquering death.

Blessed feat, live honestly in the middle of the war ...! And what an admirable sense of fraternity, the one that makes us capable of feeling sent as peace when we are subjected to humiliation. In this - especially in this - we will never be better disciples than the Master, who climbed the cross with forgiveness hanging from his lips. However, we will never be true disciples who do not seek the way of living reconciled and delivered when the storm worsens. After all, the cross is the only true form of Christian existence.

Sometimes I think that our faith has its greatest stumbling block and, at the same time, its cornerstone. That passion - suffering and donation; or better, donation in suffering - it is not another mystery of the life of Christ - important, of course, but one more - but the mystery of Christ himself and of the Christian: his heart and ours. To assume that to believe is to suffer oblatively is the most evident of our faith and perhaps also the most unusual. Our highest wealth and our most common forgetting.

It is not by chance that Paul announces Jesus, "and this one crucified", also to those who, by tradition, education and sensitivity, should more easily receive his message, his work, his person, his mystery. We are never so close to the Crucified as to embrace his death with the Peace of the Risen One.
