Le dijo Felipe: "Señor, muéstranos al Padre y eso nos basta". Jesús le replicó: "Felipe, tanto tiempo hace que estoy con ustedes, ¿y todavía no me conoces? Quien me ha visto a mí, ha visto al Padre. ¿Entonces por qué dices: 'Muéstranos al Padre'? ¿O no crees que yo estoy en el Padre y que el Padre está en mí? Las palabras que yo les digo, no las digo por mi propia cuenta. Es el Padre, que permanece en mí, quien hace las obras. Créanme: yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mí. Si no me dan fe a mí, créanlo por las obras.
Yo les aseguro: el que crea en mí, hará las obras que hago yo y las hará aún mayores, porque yo me voy al Padre; y cualquier cosa que pidan en mi nombre, yo la haré para que el Padre sea glorificado en el Hijo. Yo haré cualquier cosa que me pidan en mi nombre''.

Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

Meditacion:
La vida actual se distingue por el aislamiento de las personas. Hemos pasado a ser una sociedad individualista, que se absorbe en sus aparatos electrónicos, ignora la necesidad de las relaciones interpersonales y todo lo quiere en forma instantánea. Hemos perdido el contacto con el universo. Pero si prescindimos del resto de la creación, ¿cómo vamos a relacionarnos con Dios, el Creador? El Salmo 19 (18) nos recuerda que el firmamento está constantemente hablándonos de la gloria de Dios y que el Señor anhela tener comunión con sus hijos.
El que es devoto escucha la llamada del Espíritu Santo a construir la Iglesia y responde afirmativamente. Tal persona, sensible a Dios y a las necesidades de los demás, está en contacto con la criatura, la creación y el Creador.
Los santos nos hacen recordar el significado de la verdadera integración de la espiritualidad en la vida diaria. Los apóstoles Felipe y Santiago, a quienes honramos hoy, son muestra de este contacto con Dios y el prójimo. Felipe fue uno de los doce discípulos de Jesús. Cuando Cristo lo invitó a seguirlo, él aceptó y además trajo consigo a Natanael (Juan 1, 45-46). Felipe buscaba sinceramente a Dios, y quería saber a ciencia cierta si Jesús era realmente el Mesías que el pueblo judío venía esperando desde hacía siglos. Viendo esta buena disposición, el Señor decidió afirmar claramente que él era uno con el Padre. Felipe es, pues, para nosotros un modelo de todo el que escucha la llamada de Dios, responde y continúa creciendo espiritualmente dedicándose a adorar al Altísimo con todo su ser.
La Escritura dice que Santiago llegó a ser obispo de la Iglesia en Jerusalén (Gálatas 2, 9).
San Pablo buscó la aprobación de Santiago y de las otras autoridades de la Iglesia para la misión que él y Bernabé cumplían entre los gentiles, mientras los otros evangelizaban a los judíos. Aprendamos pues a ser agradecidos con Dios por la generosidad que tuvo al crearnos a nosotros y al mundo entero, y por tener un plan para reunir a toda la humanidad bajo la protección de su amor y su misericordia.
“Señor, ayúdame a estar atento a tu voluntad y actuar como discípulo tuyo en este mundo en cualquier función, oficio o vocación que me hayas dado.”

The current life is distinguished by the isolation of people. We have become an individualistic society, which is absorbed in its electronic devices, ignores the need for interpersonal relationships and wants everything instantaneously. We have lost contact with the universe. But if we dispense with the rest of creation, how are we going to relate to God, the Creator? Psalm 19 (18) reminds us that the firmament is constantly talking about the glory of God and that the Lord longs to have communion with his children.
The one who is a devotee hears the call of the Holy Spirit to build the Church and answers affirmatively. Such a person, sensitive to God and to the needs of others, is in contact with the creature, the creation and the Creator.
The saints remind us of the meaning of the true integration of spirituality in daily life. The apostles Philip and James, whom we honor today, are a sign of this contact with God and neighbor. Philip was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. When Christ invited him to follow him, he accepted and also brought Nathanael with him (John 1: 45-46). Philip sincerely sought God, and wanted to know for sure if Jesus was really the Messiah that the Jewish people had been waiting for centuries. Seeing this willingness, the Lord decided to affirm clearly that he was one with the Father. Philip is, therefore, for us a model for everyone who hears the call of God, responds and continues to grow spiritually, dedicating himself to adore the Most High with all his being.
The Scripture says that James became the bishop of the Church in Jerusalem (Galatians 2, 9).
Saint Paul sought the approval of James and the other authorities of the Church for the mission that he and Barnabas fulfilled among the Gentiles, while the others evangelized the Jews. Let us learn then to be grateful to God for the generosity he had in creating us and the whole world, and for having a plan to gather all humanity under the protection of his love and his mercy.
"Lord, help me to be attentive to your will and act as your disciple in this world in whatever function, office or vocation you have given me."
