Tanto amo Dios al mundo...

Jn 3, 16-21

"Tanto amó Dios al mundo, que le entregó a su Hijo único, para que todo el que crea en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna. Porque Dios no envió a su Hijo para condenar al mundo, sino para que el mundo se salvara por él. El que cree en él no será condenado; pero el que no cree ya está condenado, por no haber creído en el Hijo único de Dios.

La causa de la condenación es ésta: habiendo venido la luz al mundo, los hombres prefirieron las tinieblas a la luz, porque sus obras eran malas. Todo aquel que hace el mal, aborrece la luz y no se acerca a ella, para que sus obras no se descubran. En cambio, el que obra el bien conforme a la verdad, se acerca a la luz, para que se vea que sus obras están hechas según Dios''.

God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned,
but whoever does not believe has already been condemned,

And this is the verdict,
that the light came into the world,
but people preferred darkness to light,
because their works were evil.
For everyone who does wicked things hates the light
and does not come toward the light,
so that his works might not be exposed.
But whoever lives the truth comes to the light,
so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.

Hoy leemos a "La palabra entre nosotros":

La buena noticia del Evangelio consiste en que Dios Padre nos amó tanto que envió a su Hijo único al mundo y estuvo dispuesto a sacrificarlo para salvarnos de la muerte segura a la que nos llevaban irremediablemente nuestros pecados y maldades. En efecto, gracias a la muerte y la resurrección de Jesucristo, todo el que crea en él puede experimentar la vida del mundo venidero ahora mismo, en esta vida.

¡Qué increíblemente generoso e ilimitado es el amor de nuestro Dios! Y es un amor que crece y se amplía cada vez más en nuestra vida. Es como un pequeño arroyo que va creciendo hasta hacerse un río grande y caudaloso. Nuestro Padre quiere que su amor fluya de nosotros para que seamos portadores de su gracia. La condenación cede ante la misericordia, y el odio ante la compasión. Tanto quiso el Padre adoptarnos como hijos suyos que entregó a su propio Hijo para salvarnos de la muerte eterna.

A veces quizás nos dejamos llevar por la impaciencia, cuando vemos que nos cuesta practicar la caridad en forma constante, y nos parece que nuestra fe es muy débil cuando nos comparamos con algunos santos y personajes bíblicos. Sin embargo, el poder de la vida eterna está en nuestro interior, aun cuando no lo aprovechemos ni vivamos de acuerdo con él. Pero si nos decidimos a confiar plenamente en la vida nueva que Cristo ganó para nosotros, podemos empezar a recibir la fuerza necesaria para vivir entregados a Dios a pesar de las dificultades.

Hoy la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de San José Obrero, patrono de los trabajadores, fecha que coincide con el Día Mundial del Trabajo. Esta celebración litúrgica fue instituida en 1955 por el Papa Pío XII, que en aquella oportunidad pidió que “el humilde obrero de Nazaret y padre adoptivo de Jesús, además de encarnar la dignidad del obrero, sea también el solícito guardián de ustedes y sus familias… Que sea para todos los obreros del mundo, especial protector ante Dios y defensa en las penalidades y los riesgos del trabajo.”

Todos somos obreros en la viña del Señor, por eso pidámosle al Señor que nos conceda una comprensión más profunda y clara de su gran amor y su protección.

“Padre santo, te agradecemos infinitamente por darnos la vida eterna mediante tu Hijo Jesús. Ayúdanos, Señor, a vivir cada día como verdaderos cristianos.” Amen

How incredibly generous and unlimited is the love of our God! And it is a love that grows and expands more and more in our life. It is like a small stream that grows until it becomes a large and mighty river. Our Father wants his love to flow from us so that we can be bearers of his grace. Condemnation yields to mercy, and hatred to compassion. The Father wanted so much to adopt us as his children that he gave his own Son to save us from eternal death.

Sometimes we may get carried away by impatience, when we see that it is difficult for us to practice charity constantly, and it seems to us that our faith is very weak when we compare ourselves with some saints and biblical characters. However, the power of eternal life is within us, even if we do not take advantage of it or live according to it. But if we decide to trust fully in the new life that Christ won for us, we can begin to receive the necessary strength to live surrendered to God despite the difficulties.

Today the Church celebrates the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, employer of the workers, date that coincides with World Labor Day.
