No se inquieten...

Mt 6, 24-34

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Nadie puede servir a dos amos, porque odiará a uno y amará al otro, o bien obedecerá al primero y no hará caso al segundo. En resumen, no pueden ustedes servir a Dios y al dinero.

Por eso les digo que no se preocupen por su vida, pensando qué comerán o con qué se vestirán. ¿Acaso no vale más la vida que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido? Miren las aves del cielo, que ni siembran, ni cosechan, ni guardan en graneros y, sin embargo, el Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿Acaso no valen ustedes más que ellas? ¿Quién de ustedes, a fuerza de preocuparse, puede prolongar su vida siquiera un momento?

¿Y por qué se preocupan del vestido? Miren cómo crecen los lirios del campo, que no trabajan ni hilan. Pues bien, yo les aseguro que ni Salomón, en todo el esplendor de su gloria, se vestía como uno de ellos. Y si Dios viste así a la hierba del campo, que hoy florece y mañana es echada al horno, ¿no hará mucho más por ustedes, hombres de poca fe?

No se inquieten, pues, pensando: ¿Qué comeremos o qué beberemos o con qué nos vestiremos? Los que no conocen a Dios se desviven por todas estas cosas; pero el Padre celestial ya sabe que ustedes tienen necesidad de ellas. Por consiguiente, busquen primero el Reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas se les darán por añadidura. No se preocupen por el día de mañana, porque el día de mañana traerá ya sus propias preocupaciones. A cada día le bastan sus propios problemas".

"No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes?
Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.
They do not work or spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field,
which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow,
will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, 'What are we to eat?'
or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?'
All these things the pagans seek.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil."

Meditacion:

Hace mucho tiempo que los mercados han dejado de ser «de abastos». En realidad, no buscamos en ellos lo que nos basta para vivir hoy sino lo que nos asegura no tener que sufrir nunca carencia alguna. Todo es más caro en estos nuevos mercados; al igual que el precio de la propia vida. Porque hemos sido creados para la dependencia sencilla y no para la independencia exuberante. La seguridad plena –que, en realidad, no existe– se compra a precio de libertad mermada. Y cuando la libertad sale por la puerta, la vida huye por la ventana.

He aquí por qué nos resultan tan radicales y tan contraculturales los discursos de Jesús y de Pablo que hoy nos ofrece la liturgia. «Te basta mi gracia; la fuerza se realiza en la debilidad» (2Cor 12,9). «Ya sabe vuestro Padre del cielo que tenéis necesidad de todo eso. Sobre todo buscad el reino de Dios y su justicia; lo demás se os dará por añadidura» (Mt ). Ambas son frases de una sabiduría incalculable: la de quien sabe ver lo grande en lo sencillo y lo mucho en lo único. Ningún sabio ha necesitado más cuando realmente lo ha sido. Porque el corazón que se abre sinceramente a Dios termina por vivir sencillamente de su Palabra y por obrar con un ánimo indiviso en favor de su amor. En este sentido, a un corazón tal le basta para entregarse la gracia del Señor, le basta con saber que Dios se cuida de aquellos a quienes ama.

Todos –aun quienes más saciados están y más riqueza acumulan en esta tierra– experimentamos en algún momento el abismo de la existencia. Entonces, cuando nos cercan las preguntas últimas, ¿cuál es nuestro descanso? ¿Cuál nuestra esperanza? ¿Dónde tenemos nuestro abasto? Dejemos que sea el Señor mismo quien nos cuestione. Quizá un día nos descubramos maravillados musitando las palabras de la Santa: Solo Dios basta...

“Padre celestial, pongo en tus santas manos todas mis preocupaciones.” Amen

It's been a long time since the markets have ceased to be "in supply". In reality, we do not look for what is enough for us to live in today, but what assures us that we will never have to suffer any shortage. Everything is more expensive in these new markets; like the price of one's life. Because we have been created for simple dependence and not for exuberant independence. Full security - which, in reality, does not exist - is bought at the price of reduced freedom. And when freedom comes out the door, life flees out the window.

This is why the discourses of Jesus and Paul that the liturgy offers us today are so radical and so countercultural. «My grace is enough for you; Strength is realized in weakness "(2 Cor 12,9). «Your Father in heaven already knows that you need all this. Above all seek the kingdom of God and his justice; the rest will be given to you in addition "(Mt). Both are phrases of incalculable wisdom: that of one who knows how to see the great in the simple and the great in the unique. No wise man has needed more when he really has. Because the heart that opens up sincerely to God ends up living simply by his Word and by acting with an undivided spirit in favor of his love. In this sense, to such a heart is enough to surrender the grace of the Lord, it is enough to know that God cares for those he loves.

Everyone - even those who are most satiated and more wealth accumulate on this earth - experience at some point the abyss of existence. Then, when the last questions surround us, what is our rest? What our hope? Where do we have our supply? Let it be the Lord himself who questions us. Maybe one day we discover ourselves in awe, whispering the words of the Saint: Only God is enough ...
