Misericordia

Mt 12, 1-8

Un sábado, atravesaba Jesús por los sembrados. Los discípulos, que iban con él, tenían hambre y se pusieron a arrancar espigas y a comerse los granos. Cuando los fariseos los vieron, le dijeron a Jesús: "Tus discípulos están haciendo algo que no está permitido hacer en sábado".

El les contestó: "¿No han leído ustedes lo que hizo David una vez que sintieron hambre él y sus compañeros? ¿No recuerdan cómo entraron en la casa de Dios y comieron los panes consagrados, de los cuales ni él ni sus compañeros podían comer, sino tan sólo los sacerdotes?

¿Tampoco han leído en la ley que los sacerdotes violan el sábado porque ofician en el templo y no por eso cometen pecado? Pues yo digo que aquí hay alguien más grande que el templo.

Si ustedes comprendieran el sentido de las palabras: Misericordia quiero y no sacrificios, no condenarían a quienes no tienen ninguna culpa. Por lo demás, el Hijo del hombre también es dueño del sábado''.

GospelMT 12:1-8

Jesus was going through a field of grain on the sabbath.
His disciples were hungry
and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him,
"See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath."
He said to them, "Have you not read what David did
when he and his companions were hungry,
how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering,
which neither he nor his companions
but only the priests could lawfully eat?
Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath
the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath
and are innocent?
I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.
If you knew what this meant, I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
you would not have condemned these innocent men.
For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."

Meditacion:

Los judíos ofrecían muchos sacrificios de animales en el templo y también hacían sacrificios personales, como el ayuno, pero lo que Jesús reprobaba eran los sacrificios que hacían los fariseos con la creencia de que el hecho de cumplir los rituales de la Ley los haría santos ante Dios. La ley exigía numerosas prácticas rituales, como lavamientos, ayunos y sacrificios de animales, y prohibía hacer labores en el día de reposo, tales como trabajar, viajar o preparar alimentos. Todo esto supuestamente justificaba a las personas ante Dios, aunque eran, como vemos, prácticas externas a la persona.

Pero la misericordia es una actitud interna que exige un cambio de mente y corazón, que lleva a mirar con compasión y bondad a los que sufren, como lo hacía Jesús. Consciente del estado miserable de nuestra condición humana causada por el pecado y sus efectos, Cristo demostró la misericordia suprema al hacerse hombre, asumiendo el castigo que merecían nuestros pecados y muriendo para que fuéramos perdonados y recibiéramos el don de la vida eterna.

Al igual ahora muchas veces nosotros vamos apurados a nuestras practicas espirituales.... que misas o congresos o exposicion del Santisimo o colaborar en la Parroquia pero en el camino dejamos de lado muchos hermanos que podrian necesitar de nuestra misericordia.

Jesus lo dice bien claro: no desea sacrificios (quien tiene ganas de matar un cabrito en sacrifio? o tal vez dos pichones?) pero si desea ver "sacrificado" nuestro orgullo, nuestra envidia, nuestros malos sentimientos que nos alejan del que sufre.

La misericordia es una actitud, algo que debe estar siempre en nuestra vida diaria.

La misericordia la recibimos de Cristo por medio de su cruz. Cuando nos damos cuenta de que su sacrificio de amor es muchísimo más eficaz que cualquier cosa que se haya ofrecido a Dios en el Templo de Jerusalén, podemos recibir y tener hacia nuestro prójimo, la misma compasión que hemos recibido nosotros. Quizás continuaremos haciendo lo mismo que antes, pero lo haremos con humildad, procurando servir a Dios. Esto le dará un colorido de amor a nuestras devociones.

“Señor Jesús, transforma mi corazón, te lo ruego. Ayúdame a atesorar la misericordia que has tenido conmigo, y líbrame de hacer sacrificios vanos. Padre Santo, concédeme tu fortaleza para servirte a ti y a tu pueblo.” Amen

The Jews offered many sacrifices of animals in the temple and also made personal sacrifices, such as fasting, but what Jesus disapproved of were the sacrifices made by the Pharisees with the belief that doing the rituals of the Law would make them holy. God. The law required numerous ritual practices, such as washing, fasting, and animal sacrifices, and prohibited work on the Sabbath, such as working, traveling, or preparing food. All this supposedly justified people before God, although they were, as we see, practices external to the person.

But mercy is an internal attitude that requires a change of mind and heart, which leads to look with compassion and kindness to those who suffer, as Jesus did. Aware of the miserable state of our human condition caused by sin and its effects, Christ demonstrated the supreme mercy in becoming man, assuming the punishment that our sins deserved and dying so that we would be forgiven and receive the gift of eternal life.

Likewise now many times we go in a hurry to our spiritual practices ... what masses or congresses or exposition of the Blessed or collaborate in the Parish but on the way we leave aside many brothers who could need our mercy.

Jesus says it very clearly: he does not want sacrifices (who wants to kill a kid in sacrifice or maybe two pigeons?) But if he wants to see "sacrificed" our pride, our envy, our bad feelings that take us away from the sufferer.

Mercy is an attitude, something that should always be in our daily life.

We receive mercy from Christ through his cross. When we realize that their sacrifice of love is far more effective than anything that has been offered to God in the Temple of Jerusalem, we can receive and have towards our neighbor, the same compassion that we have received. Perhaps we will continue doing the same as before, but we will do it with humility, trying to serve God. This will give a colorful love to our devotions.

"Lord Jesus, transform my heart, I beg you. Help me to treasure the mercy that you have had with me, and save me from making vain sacrifices. Holy Father, grant me your strength to serve you and your people. "Amen
