Mt 10, 34–11, 1

GospelMT 10:34—11:1
Jesus said to his Apostles:
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth.
I have come to bring not peace but the sword.
For I have come to set
a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
and one's enemies will be those of his household.
"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me,
and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
and whoever does not take up his cross
and follow after me is not worthy of me.
Whoever finds his life will lose it,
and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
"Whoever receives you receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet
will receive a prophet's reward,
and whoever receives a righteous man
because he is righteous
will receive a righteous man's reward.
And whoever gives only a cup of cold water
to one of these little ones to drink
because he is a disciple–
amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward."
When Jesus finished giving these commands to his Twelve disciples,
he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns.
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth.
I have come to bring not peace but the sword.
For I have come to set

Meditacion:
Amen

Reading today's Gospel in light of all the problems we are experiencing with the immigrant currents in different countries of the world, it seems as if Jesus had gone ahead of his time, prophesying what we are experiencing now.
The option of following Jesus is difficult and it raises many practical decisions that will not always be easy for our families, friends, and above all, for ourselves.
Sometimes it seems to me that Jesus wants us to break up, to reduce ourselves to the minimum expression as humans, abandoning all pride, rancor, possessions, and even our families, to put it at his feet and only live in the search for his love.
It's radical, I know, raised in that way it seems like it's better to forget everything and live every day focused on us, in a narcissistic existence.
But ... (there is always a but) we can not forget that we are souls in elevation and that this life is to learn, change, improve and it is only a step towards eternal life.
God has given us and gives us everything we are or have, we can not forget about that. And the last answer will always be the love of God.
Welcoming Christ does not mean that you should invite every person you meet to have a coffee or dinner. It simply means being attentive; it means trying to be receptive and courteous to those with whom you have your way; it means not letting yourself be carried away by the first impression you have and paying attention to what they say and do. And in the event that someone causes you discomfort or irritation, it means at least trying to be willing to excuse and accept it.
The church is a perfect place for this to happen. Even when we have a common faith, we do not all share the same opinions. That is, you can meet at Mass with someone who does not share your political tendencies, or who never seems to smile at anyone, or whose clothing does not seem right to you. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, take a deep breath and try to listen to what he says and ask the Lord what he wants to say to you through that person.
If the new member of the parish you just met did not impress you, someone with whom you do not think you have anything in common, calm down and let Jesus surprise you. Never forget that the Lord likes to catch his people "off guard" and talk to them through "unexpected" messengers.
"Beloved Jesus, grant me the grace to see you in all the people I meet today." Amen
