Mt 11, 20-24

En aquel tiempo, Jesús se puso a reprender a las ciudades que habían visto sus numerosos milagros, por no haberse arrepentido. Les decía:

"¡Ay de ti, Corozaín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran realizado los milagros que se han hecho en ustedes, hace tiempo que hubieran hecho penitencia, cubiertas de sayal y de ceniza. Pero yo les aseguro que el día del juicio será menos riguroso para Tiro y Sidón, que para ustedes.

Y tú, Cafarnaúm, ¿crees que serás encumbrada hasta el cielo? No. Serás precipitada en el abismo, porque si en Sodoma se hubieran realizado los milagros que en ti se han hecho, quizá estaría en pie hasta el día de hoy. Pero yo te digo que será menos riguroso el día del juicio para Sodoma que para ti''.

Jesus began to reproach the towns
where most of his mighty deeds had been done,
since they had not repented.
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum:

Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.

For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom,
it would have remained until this day.
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."

Meditacion:

Jesus se lamenta hoy de la suerte de tres ciudades que no hicieron caso de su palabra.

Les dice que en ellas se han realizado muchos milagros y no han servido para cambiar su rumbo.

La situacion no ha cambiado mucho en nuestros dias. Dios sigue actuando y haciendo milagros en nuestras ciudades pero parecen no ser suficientes para cambiar el corazon de sus habitantes.

¿No deberíamos pensar así también hoy en día? Tal vez no sepamos qué hacer cuando vemos noticias sobre la violencia y las injusticias que se cometen en nuestras ciudades, pero ¡podemos hacer oración! Podemos rezar con devoción y pedirle al Señor que transforme nuestros barrios y vecindarios, por ejemplo pidiendo por intenciones como éstas:

Por los funcionarios elegidos: “Señor, bendice a nuestros gobernantes. Ayúdales a cumplir su labor con humildad y justicia y servir a los más necesitados de ayuda y atención.”

Por las escuelas: “Padre, bendice a los maestros. Concédeles sabiduría y un corazón compasivo para formar bien a nuestros hijos. Ayuda a sus alumnos a aprender y crecer física e intelectualmente.”

Por nuestros vecindarios: “Señor, bendice a cada hogar de mi vecindario y llénalo con tu paz. Que cada familia llegue a ser una pequeña iglesia, donde los padres y los hijos se amen mutuamente y se ayuden unos a otros. Que cada hogar sea un refugio para resguardarse de las tentaciones y los peligros.”

Por nuestra Iglesia: “Espíritu Santo, bendice a nuestro obispo, al párroco y los empleados de nuestra parroquia y a todos mis hermanos de la congregación. Ayúdanos a demostrarnos bondad y espíritu de servicio. Concédenos tu fortaleza para convertirnos en testigos de tu amor, y danos sabiduría y valor para hablar a otros de lo que tú has hecho por nosotros.”

Por la paz en nuestro diario vivir: “Señor, forja la paz y la unidad en nuestro barrio o ciudad. Repara el daño provocado por la discriminación, la pobreza, la delincuencia y la violencia. Señor, haz que la luz de tu amor ilumine hasta los lugares más oscuros.”

“Amado Señor Jesús, concédeme la gracia de rezar todos los días por mi familia, mi ciudad y mi país.” Amen

Jesus today laments the fate of three cities that ignored his word.

He tells them that many miracles have been performed in them and they have not served to change their course.

The situation has not changed much in our days. God continues to act and perform miracles in our cities but they do not seem to be enough to change the hearts of their inhabitants.

Should not we think that way too today? We may not know what to do when we see news about the violence and injustices that are committed in our cities, but we can pray! We can pray with devotion and ask the Lord to transform our neighborhoods and neighborhoods, for example asking for intentions like these:

For elected officials: "Lord, bless our rulers. Help them to carry out their work with humility and justice and serve those most in need of help and attention. "

For the schools: "Father, bless the teachers. Give them wisdom and a compassionate heart to shape our children well. It helps your students learn and grow physically and intellectually. "

For our neighborhoods: "Lord, bless each home in my neighborhood and fill it with your peace. Let each family become a small church, where parents and children love each other and help each other. Let each home be a refuge to guard against temptations and dangers. "

For our Church: "Holy Spirit, bless our bishop, the parish priest and the employees of our parish and all my brothers in the congregation. Help us to show kindness and a spirit of service. Grant us your strength to become witnesses of your love, and give us wisdom and courage to speak to others about what you have done for us. "

For peace in our daily life: "Lord, forge peace and unity in our neighborhood or city. It repairs the damage caused by discrimination, poverty, crime and violence. Lord, let the light of your love illuminate even the darkest places. "
