Proclamen el Reino

Mt 10, 1-7

En aquel tiempo, llamando Jesús a sus doce discípulos, les dio poder para expulsar a los espíritus impuros y curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.

Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: el primero de todos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y su hermano Juan, hijos del Zebedeo; Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el publicano; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo; Simón, el cananeo, y Judas Iscariote, que fue el traidor.

A estos doce los envió Jesús con estas instrucciones: “No vayan a tierra de paganos, ni entren en ciudades de samaritanos. Vayan más bien en busca de las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos”.

Jesus summoned his Twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the Twelve Apostles are these:
first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew;
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip and Bartholomew,
Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot
who betrayed Jesus.

Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
"Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.'"

Meditacion:

Hoy leemos de "La palabra entre nosotros"

Cuando Jesús envió a sus discípulos a predicar, les dijo que fueran solamente “en busca de las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel” (Mateo 10, 5-6). Cristo vino a salvar a toda la humanidad, pero sentía un amor especial por los de su propio pueblo, el pueblo escogido de Dios. El Señor sabía que cada suceso de la historia de Israel apuntaba hacia su venida, y quería cumplir lo que Dios les había prometido.

Probablemente Jesús tenía otra razón más para restringir a los apóstoles primero a su propio pueblo. ¿Qué mejor manera de aprender la evangelización básica que comenzar con sus hermanos en la fe? Ellos habían crecido con los mismos rituales y tradiciones, así que sabían cómo hacerlo. Posiblemente era bueno que ellos no tuvieran que lidiar desde el principio con las complejidades de las diferentes religiones y filosofías paganas, pues así podrían concentrarse en los principios básicos de proclamar el Evangelio.

Los apóstoles tenían que empezar de alguna manera, al igual que nosotros. Y el mejor lugar para empezar es en nuestra propia casa, con nuestras familias y comunidades, las personas que ya conocemos. Como nos lo recuerda Pablo, Dios desea que hagamos el bien a todos, “especialmente a nuestros hermanos en la fe” (Gálatas 6, 10).

La misión de evangelizar a quienes viven en medio de nosotros es igual de importante que la obra misionera que se realiza a miles de kilómetros. De alguna manera, es incluso más importante. Si no predicamos el Evangelio en nuestros hogares, ¿quién lo hará? Si nuestros familiares y vecinos no descubren a Cristo en nosotros, ¿dónde lo encontrarán?

Hermano, si piensas que es imposible evangelizar a las personas que conoces, especialmente aquellas que conoces muy bien, podemos decirte que esa simplemente no es la realidad. Tu familia te ama y solo tienes que hablarles con bondad y paciencia.

Tal vez no hables de una manera muy elocuente o persuasiva o no puedas dar el testimonio más eficaz; pero no es necesario que seas perfecto. Simplemente necesitas mostrarte como alguien que se preocupa por la salvación de los demás y para ello deseas compartir el amor de Dios. Y eso es algo que cualquiera puede hacer. Así que no dejes pasar el tiempo; busca las oportunidades que te presente el Espíritu Santo y simplemente comparte lo que está en tu corazón.

“Amado Jesús, ayúdame a compartir tu amor con aquellos que están más cerca de mí.” Amen

Today we read of "The word among us"

When Jesus sent his disciples to preach, he told them to go only "in search of the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Matthew 10: 5-6). Christ came to save all humanity, but he felt a special love for those of his own people, the chosen people of God. The Lord knew that every event in the history of Israel pointed to his coming, and he wanted to fulfill what God had promised them.

Probably Jesus had another reason to restrain the apostles first to his own people. What better way to learn basic evangelization than to begin with your brothers in the faith? They had grown up with the same rituals and traditions, so they knew how to do it. Possibly it was good that they did not have to deal with the complexities of the different pagan religions and philosophies from the beginning, so they could concentrate on the basic principles of proclaiming the Gospel.

The apostles had to start somehow, just like us. And the best place to start is in our own home, with our families and communities, the people we already know. As Paul reminds us, God wants us to do good to all, "especially to our brothers in the faith" (Galatians 6, 10).

The mission of evangelizing those who live in our midst is just as important as the missionary work that is carried out thousands of kilometers away. In a way, it is even more important. If we do not preach the Gospel in our homes, who will? If our relatives and neighbors do not discover Christ in us, where will they find it?

Brother, if you think it is impossible to evangelize the people you know, especially those you know very well, we can tell you that that is simply not reality. Your family loves you and you just have to speak with kindness and patience.

Maybe you do not speak in a very eloquent or persuasive way or you can not give the most effective testimony; but it is not necessary that you be perfect. You simply need to show yourself as someone who cares for the salvation of others and for that you want to share God's love. And that is something that anyone can do. So do not let time pass; Look for the opportunities that the Holy Spirit presents to you and simply share what is in your heart.

"Beloved Jesus, help me share your love with those who are closest to me." Amen
