Vayan y proclamen

Mt 10, 7-15

En aquel tiempo, envió Jesús a los Doce con estas instrucciones: ‘Vayan y proclamen por el camino que ya se acerca el Reino de los cielos. Curen a los leprosos y demás enfermos; resuciten a los muertos y echen fuera a los demonios. Gratuitamente han recibido este poder; ejérzanlo, pues, gratuitamente.

No lleven con ustedes, en su cinturón, monedas de oro, de plata o de cobre. No lleven morral para el camino ni dos túnicas ni sandalias ni bordón, porque el trabajador tiene derecho a su sustento.

Cuando entren en una ciudad o en un pueblo, pregunten por alguien respetable y hospédense en su casa hasta que se vayan. Al entrar, saluden así: ‘Que haya paz en esta casa’. Y si aquella casa es digna, la paz de ustedes reinará en ella; si no es digna, el saludo de paz de ustedes no les aprovechará. Y si no los reciben o no escuchan sus palabras, al salir de aquella casa o de aquella ciudad, sacúdanse el polvo de los pies. Yo les aseguro que el día del juicio, Sodoma y Gomorra serán tratadas con menos rigor que esa ciudad”.

Jesus said to his Apostles:
"As you go, make this proclamation:
'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.
Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts;
no sack for the journey, or a second tunic,
or sandals, or walking stick.
The laborer deserves his keep.
Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it,
and stay there until you leave.
As you enter a house, wish it peace.
If the house is worthy,
let your peace come upon it;
if not, let your peace return to you.
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words—
go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.
Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment
than for that town."

Meditacion:

Todos nosotros, como miembros y embajadores de Cristo, tenemos el encargo de cooperar en la proclamación de la buena nueva, curar a los enfermos y rechazar a Satanás. Dios nos ha dado el regalo más extraordinario de todos: la salvación gracias a la muerte de Jesús, pero a pesar de no merecer tan sublime don, somos hijos de Dios y estamos llamados a edificar el Cuerpo de Cristo sirviendo en la Iglesia y llevando al Señor a cuantos podamos, especialmente los más indiferentes.

Jesús, como Maestro que es, adiestra a los suyos en el arte de evangelizar. Les instruye con pocas consignas, pero fundamentales, para encarar de manera adecuada la misión. Él no quiere a su lado funcionarios a disgusto, ni trabajadores a sueldo, ni propagandistas agresivos, ni virtuosos de la oratoria, ni profesionales en la venta ambulante. Los quiere agradecidos y generosos. Por ello les recomienda con encarecimiento la gratuidad. Ese valor que se está volviendo hoy raro y costoso, porque nadie da nada por nada. Todos buscan intereses ocultos. Como la religión se puede convertir también en negocio de compra-venta, no deberíamos olvidar algunos principios fundamentales.

Ni Jesús el Señor ni su Reino son propiedad de nadie. Ni siquiera de la Iglesia. No hay lugar para el monopolio. Tampoco puede convertirse en objeto de negocio. No se puede adquirir como artículo de lujo. A nadie le está permitido esconderlo cuidadosamente para evitar su pérdida o deterioro. El Reino está pensado para ser compartido, comunicado, difundido,... a todos. Particularmente a los que no pueden pagar con nada; ni siquiera con méritos propios.

El mensaje es, sin lugar a dudas, regalo. Es don. Vale muchísimo, pero no cuesta nada. Se recibe como una muestra del “amor loco” de Dios. Su gestión no entra en la lógica comercial del intercambio. Se recibe, por sorpresa, como una “muy buena suerte”. El evangelizador lo administra, pero no lo puede retener en propiedad. Ni siquiera puede exigir privilegios al administrarlo. No lo recibe en virtud de sus méritos o de sus esfuerzos como servidor del evangelio, aunque los tenga y muchos.

El Reino es valioso y suficiente. Por ello, cuando se recibe el encargo de transmitirlo, hay que deshacerse de estorbos innecesarios (monedas de oro, de plata o de cobre; morral para el camino, dos túnicas, sandalias, bordón,...). El Reino relativiza todo lo demás. Recompone la estimativa con la que se valora la realidad desde los criterios del Señor. Y eso debe visibilizarse, mostrarse, exhibirse, hacerse visible, dejarse notar... La pobreza se convierte así en el ingrediente necesario de la gratuidad y en la más inequívoca manera de anunciar el Reino. Donde está tu riqueza allí está tu corazón.

Hay que repartirlo gratis, sin tener miedo a que se acabe. No le es permitido al evangelizador regatear con el Reino, ni subir su precio ni siquiera en un céntimo. No exige justificantes de buena conducta, o carnet de pertenencia eclesial.

Sin embargo, a veces, aunque el Espíritu Santo habita en nuestro corazón, nos dejamos dominar por la timidez o el temor al qué dirán, porque no queremos ser tachados de “fanáticos”. Pero esto no nos importaría si comprendiéramos bien cómo es el inefable amor de Dios y la majestad de su poder, ni si nos convenciéramos de que por la pura misericordia de Dios podemos salvarnos, porque Jesús murió y resucitó por todos, y los que creen en su muerte reciben, por el Bautismo, el poder de su resurrección (Romanos 6, 4-5).

De manera que hemos de confiar en el poder del Espíritu de Dios que vive en nosotros, más que en nuestras propias fuerzas. Cuando lo hagamos, seremos instrumentos que Dios podrá usar y así haremos presente entre nosotros el Reino que Cristo ha inaugurado. Hermano, ¿confías tú en que Cristo vive en ti por el poder del Espíritu Santo y que te ha infundido gracia y poder como fruto de su muerte y su resurrección? Él ciertamente lo ha hecho.

“Señor Jesús, ayúdame a trabajar para que el Reino de Dios sea una realidad aún mayor para mí y para todos los que yo encuentre cada día.” Amen

All of us, as members and ambassadors of Christ, are charged with co-operating in proclaiming the good news, healing the sick and rejecting Satan. God has given us the most extraordinary gift of all: salvation thanks to the death of Jesus, but despite not deserving such a sublime gift, we are children of God and we are called to build the Body of Christ by serving in the Church and leading Lord to all we can, especially the most indifferent.

Jesus, as a Master who is, trains his people in the art of evangelizing. He instructs them with few slogans, but fundamental, to face the mission adequately. He does not want disgruntled officials at his side, or hired workers, or aggressive propagandists, or virtuosos of oratory, or professionals in street vending. He wants them grateful and generous. For this reason he recommends them with gratuity. That value that is becoming rare and expensive today, because nobody gives anything for nothing. Everyone looks for hidden interests. As religion can also become a buying and selling business, we should not forget some fundamental principles.

Neither Jesus the Lord nor his Kingdom are property of anyone. Not even from the Church. There is no place for monopoly. Nor can it become a business object. It can not be purchased as a luxury item. Nobody is allowed to hide it carefully to avoid its loss or deterioration. The Kingdom is meant to be shared, communicated, spread, ... to all. Particularly those who can not pay with anything; not even with its own merits.

The message is, without a doubt, a gift. It is gift. It's worth a lot, but it costs nothing. It is received as a sign of God's "crazy love". Its management does not enter into the commercial logic of the exchange. It is received, by surprise, as "very good luck". The evangelizer administers it, but can not retain it in property. You can not even demand privileges when you administer it. He does not receive it by virtue of his merits or his efforts as a servant of the gospel, even though he has them and many.

The Kingdom is valuable and sufficient. Therefore, when you receive the order to transmit it, you have to get rid of unnecessary obstructions (gold, silver or copper coins, backpack for the road, two tunics, sandals, staff, ...). The Kingdom relativizes everything else. Recommends the estimate with which the reality is valued from the criteria of the Lord. And that must be visible, shown, exhibited, made visible, be noticed ... Poverty thus becomes the necessary ingredient of gratuity and the most unequivocal way to announce the Kingdom. Where your wealth is, there is your heart.

You have to distribute it for free, without being afraid of it ending. The evangelist is not allowed to bargain with the Kingdom, nor raise its price even by a penny. It does not require proof of good conduct, or membership card of the Church.

However, sometimes, although the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts, we let ourselves be dominated by shyness or fear of what they will say, because we do not want to be labeled "fanatics". But this would not matter to us if we understood well the ineffable love of God and the majesty of his power, nor if we were convinced that by the pure mercy of God we can be saved, because Jesus died and rose again for all, and those who believe in His death receives, through Baptism, the power of his resurrection (Romans 6: 4-5).

So we have to trust in the power of the Spirit of God who lives in us, more than in our own strengths. When we do, we will be instruments that God can use and we will make present among us the Kingdom that Christ inaugurated. Brother, do you trust that Christ lives in you by the power of the Holy Spirit and that he has given you grace and power as the fruit of his death and resurrection? He certainly has.

"Lord Jesus, help me to work so that the Kingdom of God is an even greater reality for me and for all those that I find every day." Amen
